Randolph Communications Selected for State-Funded Broadband Expansion Project in Randolph County

June 16, 2025

Asheboro, NC –Randolph Communications has been named a recipient of the North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program. This state-funded initiative will allow Randolph Communications to extend its state-of-the-art fiber network to 434 locations that addresses a portion of Randolph County’s remaining underserved locations—bringing essential connectivity to rural families and small business owners who have long been without dependable broadband.

“Randolph Communications is honored to be chosen for this CAB-funded project,” said Kim Garner, CEO of Randolph Communications. “This investment empowers us to serve even more of our neighbors with the fast, future-ready fiber network they need—supporting remote work, online learning, telehealth, and the local economy.”

“We are excited about the opportunities the Creating Access to Broadband funding creates by significantly enhancing broadband access for our rural residents. This project reflects our commitment to bridging the digital divide, fostering economic growth, and improving the quality of life across our communities. We thank all partners and stakeholders whose support made this achievement possible. Together, we are building a more connected and equitable future for all residents,” stated Randolph County Government officials.

The CAB program, administered by NCDIT’s Division of Broadband and Digital Opportunity, is designed to speed up broadband deployment across North Carolina through collaborative public-private partnerships. It is supported by federal American Rescue Plan funding, local government contributions, and private provider investment.

As part of the project, Randolph Communications will deliver speeds up to 1GIG symmetrical, supporting everything from remote work and virtual learning, to streaming and smart home technologies so residents can engage seamlessly with today’s digital demands. This expansion underscores Randolph Communications’ long-standing commitment to rural broadband growth and to building a stronger, more connected future for Randolph County.

Randolph Communications is dedicated to improving the lives of its customers and communities they serve. Randolph Communications is proud of its more than 71 years of serving our neighbors and communities in, Alamance, Chatham, Davidson, Guilford, Lee, Moore, Montgomery and Randolph counties.

Two Days Two Ramps

Randolph Baptist Association reached out to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Staley NC. For assistance in building two Ramps for locals in the Community in need. Randolph Baptist Association cover the cost of all materials. There is no cost to the recipient. Mt. Pleasant guys plus one girl (Catheryn Thompson) understood the assignment. They got right to work, they went out and bought material and worked back to back Saturdays and completed both ramps!

The fifth year of Liberty's Juneteenth Celebration!

We have always enjoyed being a part of this community program at Paul Henry Smith Park. Thanks to everyone who came out today and for all those who make this program possible. We are proud that this program came out of a grant we received from the American Library Association to have deeper community conversations about how we can improve our services outside of our walls.

Paul Henry Smith Park is the location of where a Rosenwald School once stood- schools that were created in the 1920s and 1930s in the South for Black and African-American children. This makes the location for Liberty's Juneteenth so much more meaningful.
