Local Pharmacy Stirs Excitement ! with $3.99 Prescription Club!

August 3, 2014 marks the 9th month since Liberty Family Pharmacy 9 Food Drive! opened its doors in Liberty. We decided to catch up with Don Haslam, 10 Taco Supper! the pharmacy manager, and ask how everything is going since opening in December and what are the store’s plans for the future? We were 10-12 Revival! surprised at the response we got. “We opened our doors December 3, 16 Museum Open! 2013. From that first month, our prescription count has more than 16 Auction! quadrupled. Every month our prescription volume and front store sales 16 Yard Sale! have grown exponentially. We don’t say this with arrogant pride, but with humble appreciation. We were happy but surprised to see the 16 Hot Dog Lunch! customers flock to us. We have also been surprised at the diversity of 16 School Supply ! the business we have picked up. We have the traditional, commercially Drive! insured patients that every pharmacy expects, but our non-insured prescription business has really taken off. We have even picked up 16 Ribbon Cutting! quite a few group homes and home-bound patients who appreciate the Tropica Tanning! free, local, same day delivery that we offer. Our compounding 16 Ramseur Summer ! business is beginning to show growth as well. We have begun making customized medicines for female hormone replacement as well as for Concert! treatment of fibromyalgia. Most important to our success so far is our 17-21 VBS! service. Don’t get me wrong, I firmly believe that the individuals that 21 Liberty Block Party! work in corporate pharmacies care for their customers like we do ours, 23 Billy Joe Royal ! but I believe that being independent from the multi-chain and “Wall Street” culture lets us make decisions that put Liberty and surrounding Music! 23 Debbies Customer! residents first. I don’t care what Wall Street thinks”, said Don. ! Apprec. Day! When asked why he thinks the non-insured prescription business has done so well, Don responded, “Walmart started its famous $4 22-23 Downtown prescription program in 2006. Some pharmacies followed with there Liberty School Kick own plan, others did not. We have our own prescription discount club. Off Chance To Win $$! respectively. Our drug lists aren’t identical, but similar. No two pharmacy’s lists are identical. Where people save the most money is when the medicine isn’t on either’s $4 list. For example, Walmart sells 30 clopidogrel (generic Plavix™), a blood clot prevention medicine and 30 atorvastatin (generic Lipitor™), a cholsterol reducing medicine, for $30 each; $60 per month if you are on both. Using our prescription discount club, the same medications can be purchased for around $16 and $18 respectively. If you are on both medicines and use our discount club plan, it will cost you $34 per month versus $60 per month with Walmart. In annual savings, that’s over $300 per year for just 2 medications.” If you or a family member are on several medications like these, the savings could be well over $1,000 per year!”!
