Winds in various direction is reduced to single due to the height of the tree

Tree being the main determinant factor of micro-weather in site

Althought the sun’s path is clear of buildings, sunlight hitting the surface is remotely less due to the density of tree branches

As my site locates at the middle of two slopes, the view have an extended effect

As covered with tree branches and the extending view of the slopes, the site become interesting, the spacial experience of here is not found in other places in TKU. I decided to takes this advantage, design a pavilion that hopefuly let the people aware the of this unique space.

As many forms of resting there may be， conidering the tight scedule of both staffs and students, high demand of seats, I chose “sit” as the form of resting in my Pavilion.

Case Study : Hall-like Pavilion - Ba_Lik

Architect : Vallo Sadovsky Architects Loacation : Bratislava, Slovakia Area : 30.9 sqm Finished : 2009

Hlavné Square

Although Ba_Lik is located in a crowded passage, it’s hall-like nature prevented crowed situations.

Ba_Lik is composed of 5 elements, can come in different form and sizes, which is the result of studying demands of each activities.

Ba_Lik’s 5 components are usually combinedto a hall shape，the narrow part in the middle helps accelerating people’s speed.

With no stantard way of placing parts, free is it’s advantage.

After deciding the programsďźŒ I starts to work on the forms. As tree being the highlight of my site, I studied tree branchand root’s growing and use these as the source of forming my pavilion.

Case Study : Form and Function - Visual Permeability Pavilion

Stacking layers of wood composed the right ergonomics for use.

Dierent angles and arc forming dierent use of space.

Form and function forged in one, creating a beautiful streamline curve.

The density of layer are based on whether the part will be used or not.
