REMEMBERING MALCOLM OMEGA MERRITT

Malc “ 2000 - 2026 “MADE MAN

“We don't have much time.”

Malcolm Omega Merritt was born on July 20, 2000 in Montgomery, Alabama. Malcolm was a loving son, devoted father, protective brother, and loyal friend. Quiet by nature and laid back in spirit, he showed his love through his actions by his unwavering presence, his loyalty, and his willingness to show up for the people he loved.

On January 29, 2017, Malcolm professed his faith in Jesus Christ through baptism at Open Door Christian Faith Worship Center. His faith remained an important part of his life.

Malcolm attended Sidney Lanier High School, where he excelled both on the football field and in the Fire Science Program through the Montgomery Preparatory Academy for Career Technologies (MPACT). His dedication, discipline, and athletic ability earned him a football scholarship to Faulkner University, where he proudly continued his football career.

“Cherish the love we have.”

Malcolm had a passion for fitness and could often be found in the gym pushing himself to be stronger. He loved grilling for family and friends and had a profound appreciation for sports cars. Whether spending time with family, working, or working out in the gym, Malcolm's quiet confidence and dependable spirit spoke louder than words.

The greatest joy of Malcolm's life was being a father to his beloved daughter, Amourah K. Ellis. She was his greatest blessing, and he loved her wholeheartedly. Malcolm also shared a remarkable bond with his mother. Their relationship was built on unconditional love, trust, and unwavering support. No matter where life took him, he remained deeply connected to her.

The love between them was evident to everyone who knew them and reflected the kind of son Malcolm was.

On July 19, 2026, Malcolm departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, loyalty, and service that will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving mother, Dr. Aredia Merritt; his beloved daughter, Amourah K. Ellis; his sisters, Charleighdia Merritt, Dr. Quebe Merritt, and Zori Davis; his nephews, who were more like his brothers, Cedrick Merritt, Jacory CroskeyMerritt, and Tre Croskey-Merritt; his nieces, Brooklyn Bradford, Sydney Bradford, and Harlem Giles; his great-niece, Gabriela Merritt; his uncle, Virgil (Ann) Merritt; his aunts, Vernice (Sam) King, Joyce Garrett, and Zakiyyah Shakoor; his dear cousins, Jai (Jimmy) Williams, Al (Cassandra) Davis, Ryne Davis, Reginald Johnson, Demetrius Johnson, Catina Johnson, Brounetta Johnson, Lasandra Johnson, Shareef Merritt, Tanika Garrett, Ajai Garrett, Skailar Garrett, Decorian Webster, Keionna Green, Arianna Green, Jayla Johnson, Tayla Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Demarcus Blue, Raven Johnson, Jasmine Johnson; and a host of loving relatives, neighbors, friends (Big Cedrick Croskey), teammates, coworkers, gym family, church family, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

“Ma Dukes, how do I look?”

Malcolm's life reminds us that a person's impact is not measured by how loudly they speak, but by how faithfully they love. Though his journey here was far too short, the strength of his character, the depth of his love, and the memories he created will remain with us forever.
