A SOCIALIZED HOUSING UNIT

RAMMED EARTH CONSTRUCTION

The paramount priority in this project revolves around the conceptualization and execution of a residence utilizing locally sourced and sustainable materials. Furthermore, meticulous attention has been devoted to the ergonomic and anthropometric planning of the dwelling's interior spaces. Additionally, the housing unit derives advantages from the natural ventilation facilitated by the utilization of jalousie-type windows. Shed-type roofing has been employed to optimize the ingress of natural sunlight into the residence.

Natural ventilation offers numerous advantages, including humidity control, costsavings, improvedhealth, and access to natural light. Jalousie window vents, in particular, play a pivotal role in reducing indoor temperatures, serving as a vital component of this system by allowing a substantial inflow of fresh air when open.

Elevated slabs, through their heatabsorbing or radiating properties, contribute to indoor comfort regulation, delivering heating or cooling effects. This temperature control feature is especially valuable in regions characterized by significant day-nighttemperaturefluctuations.

PHILIPPINE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM A PROPOSAL

The Pearl of the Orient Seas, a Philippine International Museum, is situated on a half-hectare parcel of land adjacent to the coastal expanse of Dubai. It draws its design inspiration from the renowned Tubbataha Reefs of the Philippines, which are celebrated as one of the world's most pristine coral reef ecosystems, symbolizing the innate splendor of the nation and its people.

EXTERIOR PERSPECTIVE

The architectural embodiment of the Pearl of the Orient Seas is characterized by its enveloping facade adorned with vivid coral-like patterns, complemented by gracefully undulating wave-shaped roofing.

The museum's distinctive features include imposing slanted columns, gracefully suspended cable-supported roofing, and conspicuous doubleheight ceilings.

The primary objective of this museum is to serve as a comprehensive showcase of the Philippines' natural beauty, cultural heritage, traditions, geographical diversity, and the remarkable unity that enables this archipelagic nation to function harmoniously as a singular entity.

STEEL

Given the scale of the project, steel emerges as an efficacious solution, owingtoitslightweightcharacteristics and adaptability to various geometric configurations within the project. Steel can be tailored to suit diverse processing methods, including welding, bending, and flattening, in accordance with the specific project requisites.

CONCRETE

FIBER GLASS

Fiberglass shall be incorporated into the project due to its inherent capacitytobearsubstantialloadsand withstand diverse weather conditions. Additionally, its adaptability for fabrication into various shapes renders it ideally suited for the specificrequirementsofthisproject.

Concrete emerges as the most suitable choice for this project when considering its superior qualities in terms of tensile strength, resistance, and compressive strength. Both castin-place and precast concrete will be employed in this project, contingent upon the specific construction processandprojectrequirements.

PTFE COATED GLASS FABRIC

PTFE-coated glass fabric shall be employed in this project to ensure resilience in the face of extreme temperatures. This material not only boasts ease of maintenance but also exhibits complete immunity to UV degradation. Moreover, it promises to provide effective thermal insulation, aligning it with the project's specific requirements.

STRUCTURAL CONCEPT:

CABLE STAYED ROOF CONSTRUCTION

In recent years, architectural trends in Dubai have undergone a profound transformation. The city's construction landscape has evolved towards simplicity, with a predominant use of concrete and glass in structural elements, complemented by the incorporationofsteelrebarto reinforce the concrete.

Remarkably, the aggregate length of this rebar, if laid endtoend, wouldspanmore than a quarter of the Earth's circumference.

The construction of contemporary architecture in Dubai primarily relies on materials such as glass, silicon, and aluminum to compose the exterior facades of iconic structures. In addition to conventional building materials like concrete and steel, modern architectural endeavors embrace advanced and cutting-edge design principles and materials. Notably, exposed concrete, metal, and glass are employed to fashion structuresthattranscendmerefunctionalityandserveasepitomesofarchitecturalexcellence.

A PROPOSED RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND INNOVATION CENTER WITH EDUCATIONAL CENTER AND TRAINING FACILITY

RAMON, ISABELA

THE PROBLEM AND THE PROPOSAL

The Philippines is rich in fisheries and aquatic resources. In 2010, it was reported that the country was “the fifth top fish producer in the world” (Tevez & Ragaza, 2014). Among the subsectors which contribute to the country’s fisheries industry is aquaculture which is defined as the “cultivation and farming of aquatic plants and animals in inland, coastal and marine areas” (Tevez & Ragaza, 2014).

In this proposed infrastructure, a space for an aquaculture research, extension, and training for development as well as a capacity building will be included. This space will serve as the Isabela’s center and pioneer the fishery advancement, knowledge development and technology transfer. There would also be different fish processing activities and capacity building in line with the country’s aquaculture goals and initiatives as indicated in the CNFIDP.

In Isabela, aquaculture is one of its thriving industries (Province of Isabela, 2015). Since 2012, the aquaculture industry has had the support of the provincial government through subsidies they provide to local farmers. The industry in the province grew through “inland fishing through 1,108 hectares of developed freshwater fishponds and 450 hectares of fish cage culture at Magat Dam Reservoir”.
