The CCC is a race lasting more than 10 hours, with a very important athletic component.

I'm convinced that it will be a very fast race. I think the keys will be to minimize errors, keep a close eye on how things develop, and read how the race unfolds in order to make the best decisions at all times.

I think the key is to arrive feeling that you're 100% prepared. When I do that, my mind tends to handle the race well, and I feel indestructible. My strong point is my temperament. I love to overcome challenges, and I'll give it my all to make it happen.

For me, running the UTMB is a dream. I think it's the queen of long-distance events in Europe, and that I'm on the right track for a great performance at the competition. My dream is to win the race. I know it will be difficult, as the level will be very high. At least 10 women will share this same dream, so I'll have to fight hard and believe in myself.

We plan out the season to be in peak form for this race. In view of how we really crushed the other goals this season, I'm confident that the CCC will be no different. Expectations are high. Physically, I'm better than ever. A good finish in Chamonix is any mountain athlete’s dream.

For me, the key will be to run my race. Not getting distracted by your fellow competitors is easier said than done. Mastering your mind in an ultra race is everything. It's almost impossible to run the perfect race, so I'm sure there will be some tough parts.

Running with a team like BUFF® is an advantage. I was lucky to become acquainted with the team at the Vall de Boí. The positive atmosphere and their willingness to help make the runners feel very comfortable, allowing them to focus on nothing but their running".

"Planificamos la temporada para tener un pico de forma en esta carrera. Viendo cómo hemos clavado los otros objetivos de la temporada, tengo la confianza de que en la CCC también será así. Las expectativas son altas. Físicamente estoy en el mejor momento de mi vida. Hacer un buen resultado en Chamonix es el sueño de cualquier atleta de montaña.

Para mí la clave será hacer mi carrera. Parece fácil, pero es muy difícil no fijarte en tus rivales. El control mental en una carrera ultra lo es todo. Es casi imposible hacer la carrera perfecta por lo que seguro que pasaré por momentos difíciles.

Es un extra correr con un equipo como el de BUFF®. Tuve la suerte de conocer al team en la Vall de Boí. El buen ambiente y las ganas de ayudar hacen que el corredor se sienta muy cómodo y que sólo piense en correr".

Originally, my partner, Justin Grunewald, and my daughter, Rylan Grunewald, were supposed to come with me. Justin was supposed to race in the CCC, but, with the most recent travel recommendations, we decided to have one of us stay home with our daughter. I will be 7.5 months postpartum on race day, and I'm in the best shape I can be in given that I had a baby this year. Since having our daughter, my expectations for myself have not changed. I’ve always tried to do the best I can with what I have, and that's exactly what I've done to train for CCC this year. If I run a smart race, I think I can podium. Just 7.5 months after having a baby, I think that would be pretty awesome!

My entire perspective on running has changed since having our daughter. It has made me a happier, grittier person, and that goes a long way in this sport. The key things for me will be to enjoy the day and run my own race. The races I’ve run have been more enjoyable than any other ones I've done in my 8 years running trails. If I stay positive, focus on how I'm feeling, and run the best that I can, then I will be happy with the outcome.

BUFF® is such a great support team. They helped me have such a great race in 2019, and I know that will be the case this year. I remember Sergi saying he would rather have good people on the team than the best athlete, if he had to choose. BUFF® happens to have both, but knowing that's where they stand makes me thankful to be a part of such a great team and company".

"En un principio, teníamos pensado que mi pareja, Justin Grunewald, y mi hija, Rylan Grunewald, vendrían conmigo. Justin iba a competir en la CCC, pero con las recomendaciones de viaje más recientes, decidimos que uno de nosotros se quedaría en casa con nuestra hija. El día de la carrera, habrán pasado 7 meses y medio desde el parto, y estoy en la mejor forma posible para haber tenido un bebé este año.

Desde que nació, mis expectativas no han cambiado. Siempre he tratado de dar lo mejor que tengo, y eso es exactamente lo que hice para entrenar para la CCC. Si hago una carrera inteligente, creo que puedo subir al podio. ¡Sería genial tan solo 7 meses y medio después de tener un bebé!

Toda mi perspectiva sobre correr ha cambiado desde que tuve a nuestra hija. Me ha hecho una persona más feliz y valiente, y eso es muy importante en este deporte. La clave para mí será disfrutar del día y hacer mi propia carrera. Las pruebas en las que he competido han sido más agradables que cualquier otra carrera que haya afrontado en mis 8 años haciendo trail. Si me mantengo positiva, me concentro en cómo me siento y corro lo mejor que sé, estaré feliz con el resultado.

El equipo BUFF® es un apoyo muy importante. Me ayudaron a hacer una gran carrera en 2019 y sé que será lo mismo este año. Recuerdo que Sergi dijo que, si tenía que elegir, prefería tener buenas personas en el equipo que mejores atletas. BUFF® tiene ambos, y saber que ahí es donde están me hace sentir agradecida de ser parte de un equipo y una empresa tan grandes".

This will be the longest race I have run to date, so it will be important for me to pace myself.

Reaching the last climb with enough energy will be essential, for sure. The mental part will also be vital. It will be crucial to control my emotions and try to keep my usual, steady pace, which should help me pass a lot of runners in the second half of the race.

Esta será la carrera más larga que habré corrido hasta la fecha por lo que es importante una buena gestión. No me cabe duda de que llegar a la última subida con fuerzas será fundamental. La parte mental, también.

Será crucial controlar las emociones e intentar llevar mi habitual ritmo constante que me ayuda a ganar muchas posiciones en la segunda mitad de carrera.

I've spent the last few weeks in the Sierra Nevada training at high altitudes. I'm feeling very good, and I hope I can shine at the OCC. It will be the first time I've run in this competition, and I'm looking forward to it. The level will be very high. Personally, I want to run a good race, and it would be very nice to be on the podium at the end. That will be tough, but not impossible.

Being on the BUFF® team is an extra boost.

Their experience gives me peace of mind and confidence, which translates into better results. The atmosphere and sense of connection make it easy to do your very best".

"He pasado las últimas semanas en Sierra Nevada entrenando en altitud. Me encuentro muy bien y espero poder demostrarlo en la OCC. The weeks leading up to the race are vital to reach peak form. My goal is a Top-10 finish, or about 11 hours.

Achieving this would be very rewarding, as the CCC is one of my main goals this season.

The key will be to run my race and not focus on anyone else. This year the level is really high. On the ITRA ranking, the top 60 are over 800 points. This will surely mean a very fast race with a high percentage of runners dropping out. I'll try to stay at the head of the pack because I know that I have the necessary speed, but one thing is the strategy that you come up with at home, and another thing is when you're actually out there.

Being with the BUFF® team is a dream. It's my first year on it. A few weeks ago at the BUFF® Mountain Festival I saw how tight-knit and convivial the atmosphere was. I think I'm looking forward to staying at the accommodations even more than competing!".

"Las semanas previas a la carrera son vitales para llegar en un buen pico de forma. Mi objetivo es el TOP-10 o emplear unas 11 horas. Conseguirlo sería muy gratificante ya que la CCC es uno de los objetivos principales de mi temporada.

La clave será hacer mi carrera y no fijarme en nadie más. Este año, hay mucho nivel. Por ranking ITRA, los 60 primeros están por encima de 800 puntos. Eso, seguramente, se traducirá en una carrera muy rápida con un gran porcentaje de retirados. Intentaré ir en la cabeza de carrera porque sé que tengo el ritmo necesario, pero una cosa es la estrategia que piensas en casa y otra cuando ya estás en plena batalla.

Estar con el equipo BUFF® es un sueño. Es mi primer año en él. Hace unas semanas en el BUFF® Mountain Festival pude ver que el ambiente que se vive es muy familiar y acogedor. ¡Creo que tengo más ganas de convivir en el alojamiento que de competir!".

It's taken me a lot of work to get here, for different reasons, but every week I feel stronger for the TDS. I approach and train for races to do the very best I can, so making it onto the podium would make me very happy. Four months ago I couldn't even run for 20 minutes at a time. This would represent overcoming a major personal challenge.

I t's going to be the longest race I've ever run.

With all the intestinal problems that I've had as a result of my disease - ulcerative colitis my main challenge is managing my nutrition and digestion. I think I know how to handle adversity and psychologically recover from bad times.

BUFF® is not only a sports apparel company, but also a group of very good people with a great atmosphere and many years of experience in this sport. Having the technical support of Pau Zamora and knowing that I have a group of friends behind me inspires me to give my very best. In addition, my wife and 8-month-old son will be there, so I hope all that will help me compete the best I can".

"Me ha costado mucho trabajo llegar hasta aquí por diferentes motivos, pero cada semana me encuentro más fuerte para la TDS. Afronto y entreno las carreras para estar lo más arriba posible, así que un podio me haría muy feliz. Hace cuatro meses no podía correr ni 20 minutos seguidos.

Significaría un reto de superación personal.

Va a ser la carrera más larga que haya corrido jamás. Con todos los problemas intestinales que he tenido a raíz de mi enfermedad -colitis ulcerosa-, mi principal reto es conseguir controlar la nutrición y la digestión. Creo que sé sufrir y recuperarme psicológicamente de los momentos malos.

BUFF® no es sólo una empresa de material deportivo, sino un grupo de muy buena gente, con gran ambiente y muchos años de experiencia en este deporte. En ese sentido contar con el apoyo técnico de Pau Zamora y saber que tienes a un grupo de amigos detrás, me anima a dar lo máximo. Además, van a estar mi mujer e hijo de 8 meses, así que espero que todo eso me ayude a competir lo mejor posible".

I will definitely aim to arrive at the MCC in the very best shape I can, but, being so new to the sport, I'm still trying to find my best distance. I expect a fast race, as it seems like a very runnable course, so I will do more speed work than I usually would. A dream finish for me would be a top 5 in what I am sure will be a very strong field. It's only my first year racing, but in the future I have bigger dreams for the longer races at UTMB.

Definitivamente, intentaré llegar a la MCC en mi mejor forma posible, pero siendo tan nuevo en el deporte, todavía estoy tratando de encontrar mi mejor distancia. Espero una carrera rápida por lo que haré más trabajo de velocidad del que sería habitual. Un final soñado para mí sería un top-5. Es sólo mi primer año compitiendo, pero en el futuro tengo sueños mayores para las carreras más largas de UTMB.

I started running just after the first COVID lockdown ended in Spain.

We were allowed outside after months indoors. I did a bit of trail running, on and off, for off-season cross training, from cycling, but this was the first time I committed more time to it, and I haven't looked back. Trail running is such an amazing sport, so pure, and able to carry you far, and places few other sports can; from valleys, over mountain tops, and across flatlands. The transition was very difficult for me. Coming from cycling, I had a good aerobic base, which perhaps allowed me to run too much too soon. Also, as a lifelong athlete it is difficult for me to go slow in sport. I always tend to jump in headfirst.

The key factor will be the last third of the race, which seems flatter and faster. I will need to focus on the first uphill, pushing hard but staying within myself, as this is usually my stronger point. If I could get a bit ahead of the faster guys it would be great.

The support from the BUFF® team will be huge for me. As a newbie to the sport there is a wealth of knowledge there that they have very generously been sharing with me. I'm always more motivated being surrounded by a strong team, feeding off the energy and emotions of the group".

"Empecé a correr justo después del final del primer confinamiento en España. Se nos permitió salir tras meses encerrados. Hice un poco de trail running, de forma intermitente, para el entrenamiento cruzado fuera de temporada. Y ésta fue la primera vez que le dediqué más tiempo y ya no he mirado atrás. El trail running es un deporte increíble, puro y capaz de llevarte lejos a lugares donde pocos otros deportes pueden hacerlo: valles, cimas de montañas y llanuras. La transición fue muy difícil para mí, aunque, viniendo del ciclismo, tenía una buena base aeróbica, lo que quizás me permitió empezar a correr bien pronto. Además, como deportista de toda la vida, me resulta difícil ir lento en el deporte.

Siempre tiendo a saltar de cabeza.

El factor clave será el último tercio de carrera, que parece más llano y rápido. Tendré que concentrarme en la primera subida, empujando, pero manteniéndome dentro de mí mismo, ya que éste suele ser mi punto más fuerte. Si pudiera adelantarme un poco a los hombres más rápidos, sería genial.

El apoyo del equipo de BUFF® es enorme para mí. Como novato en el deporte, hay una gran cantidad de conocimientos que han estado compartiendo muy generosamente conmigo. Siempre me motiva más estar rodeado de un equipo fuerte, alimentándome de la energía y de las emociones del grupo".

I feel well prepared for the CCC. I’ve trained doing trail running, climbing and cycling in a wonderful place: La Plagne. I've done some very long running workouts, which are something that I love. As for my goals, I'd like to finish with a smile and feeling good. I want to share this experience with my community and my friends.

Having done very long sessions for my preparation, I've worked on my mind when I feel like I'm breaking down. I know that one goes through mental ups and downs, and I'm prepared. I've worked a lot on it, creating a series of mental strategies. The first of them to achieve my goal is: run for yourself.

The other runners on the BUFF® team, and the brand itself, are a great source of support for me. I feel very good, and I hope to clock a good time, with their help. I'm proud to be tackling this race with BUFF®. I'll do the best I can".

MCC is a race that's very different from the ones I run the rest of the year. It's like a celebration for those of us who have to work during the week of the spectacle that is the UTMB. This race gives us a chance to feel like one of the runners that will cross the finish line in Chamonix.

If I look at the MCC from a competitive point of view, I think it's a race that suits me well.

It has a couple of very tough climbs, but the rest involves running, a lot. Being familiar with it, because I participated in 2019, gives me a big leg up. The end, on paper, seems easy, but in 2019 I fell back one position and ended up third, reaching the finish line completely exhausted. This year I'll try to pace myself to reach the last third of the race with something left in the tank.

This UTMB will mark 10 seasons that I've been representing BUFF®. It will be an honor to do so again. I don't feel any kind of extra pressure".

"La MCC es una carrera muy diferente a las que realizo durante el resto del año. Es como la fiesta para los que nos toca trabajar durante la semana del espectáculo que es UTMB. Esta carrera nos da la oportunidad de poder sentirte uno más de los corredores que cruzarán el arco de meta en Chamonix.

Si miro la MCC desde un punto de vista competitivo, creo que es una carrera que se adapta bien a mis características. Tiene un par de subidas muy duras, pero el resto es de correr mucho. El hecho de conocerla al haber ya participado en 2019 me da mucha ventaja. El final, sobre el perfil, parece fácil, pero aquí en 2019 perdí un puesto entrando finalmente tercero y llegando a meta completamente vacío. En esta edición trataré de dosificar para llegar entero al último tercio.

Con esta UTMB ya serán 10 temporadas las que llevo representando a BUFF®. Será un honor volverlo a hacer. No siento ningún tipo de presión extra".

e partnered with REPREVE® to develop a recycled polyester fabric for our products - made from clear plastic bottles that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. Over 23 million plastic bottles have been reused by BUFF® and we are still counting. In short, if we can give something a second life, we do!

os hemos asociado con REPREVE® para desarrollar un tipo de poliéster reciclado hecho con botellas de plástico transparente que, de otro modo, hubieran acabado en un vertedero. Más de 23 millones de botellas han sido recicladas, y seguimos sumando! Si podemos reutilizar cualquier cosa, para darle una segunda vida, lo haremos.

nything we can’t reuse in our own processes, we work to re-purpose in a different way. For example, the paper used in our design process becomes newspapers and leftover textile scraps are upcycled into carpeting for cars. BUFF® has recycled tons of textiles, cardboard and paper, nothing can stop us!

i no podemos reutilizar algo en nuestro proceso de producción, nos proponemos hacerlo de diferente manera. Por ejemplo, el papel que usamos al diseñar se convierte en periódicos; y los restos textiles, se convierten en alfombras para automóviles. BUFF® ha reciclado toneladas de textil, cartón y papel. ¡Y lo que nos queda!
