We grew up spending weekends in Somers and holidays in Coffs Harbour (always stopping for a snap with the Big Banana), idolising the golden era of Aussie surf culture. Mambo was our holy grail—loud, proud, and a little cheeky. We weren’t hanging ten, but we sure wished we were.
Now, we’re diving headfirst into a summer of fun with Mambo to rediscover our roots — celebrating the art, the misfits, and the rebellious spirit that turned a bunch of troublemakers into one of Australia’s most legendary creative collectives.
This collab is a nostalgic ride through sun-bleached summers, beach bums, and boardshort dreams. So slip, slop, slap, and get ready to ride this wave of pure 90s Aussie goodness.

Reg Mombassa is a musician, painter, writer, poet, humanist, sage, dispenser of arcane wisdom, and much loved national treasure. He is also a founding member of legendary Australian rock band, Mental As Anything. Reg joined Mambo in 1986.
Reg has exhibited extensively throughout Australia and overseas. His work can be found in the permanent collections of every major Australian gallery including the MCA in Sydney and the National Gallery of Australia. In 2000 Reg designed both the ‘Heroes’ segment for the Sydney Olympics closing ceremony and the poster for the 2000 Paralympic Arts Festival. Legend? Much so! Not to mention the irreverent original Puppies artwork, featured here in the Mambo x Kip&Co collection.
