FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2021 I am delighted to share with you some of the wonderful achievements of our Kinross Wolaroi students. I warmly congratulate the Class of 2021 on their exemplary results as well as on their substantial achievements throughout their time at our School. We are exceptionally proud of every one of our graduates and the fine young adults they have become. Despite the considerable challenges of the past two years their desire and determination to achieve were not diminished, which speaks volumes for their resilience and fine character. The richness and diversity of our broad educational offering is reflected in this document. This is a testament to our belief in educating the whole child for the whole of life. At Kinross Wolaroi our vision for learning encompasses every aspect of life and provides our students with opportunities to discover their passions within a challenging and inspirational educational setting. We passionately believe that enjoyment of learning and the wellbeing of our students must lie at the heart of a school. Students learn to think independently and develop a spirit of independence that will allow them to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The best education offers students at every age and stage a plethora of experiences to grow, develop and learn; to graduate with the confidence and capabilities to be the community’s next leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators – to be future ready, for whatever that future holds. We underpin this deep, rich learning environment with a wellbeing program that prioritises each student’s mental and physical health, and a school-wide commitment to our core values of Courage, Respect, Inclusiveness, Resilience and Commitment. Our students complete their education with a strong sense of self and a powerful sense of connection to their community. These outstanding performances of our students powerfully reflect upon the quality of our inspirational teaching staff. I congratulate our students for their dedication and desire for success, our staff for their ability to guide and motivate, and thank our parents for their limitless love and support: it is the culmination of these efforts that contribute to the success of our students. Kinross Wolaroi School achieved 80 high scores in the 2021 HSC across 687 entries by 123 students, achieving a success rate of 11.64%, an increase from 10.41% in 2020, against a median success rate for schools in NSW of 5.47%.*

HSC HIGH ACHIEVERS ALEX WILLIAMS | ATAR 99.05 Alex has been a boarding student at Kinross Wolaroi School since 2019. She is a diligent and intelligent student who is serious about achieving to her best ability. Studying a diverse range of subjects as well as the rigorous study of Extension subjects enabled Alex to develop a mastery of analysis and research which is fundamental to problem solving and development of initiative. Alex has been an active member of the School’s co-curricular programs. A talented musician, she played flute in both band and orchestra and was Band Leader. Alex was chosen to tour Italy and Croatia in the 2019 as part of the West of the Divide Music Tour. She was awarded a Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and has also actively participated in the School’s Volunteer Service Program providing service to Parkes Early Childhood Service and the School’s After School Care Service. It is apparent that Alex has risen to many demands placed upon her. She is a young woman of high integrity who thoroughly deserves the excellent results she has achieved.
EMMA CHOI | ATAR 98.95 Emma has been a day student at Kinross Wolaroi for 14 years. Emma has strong leadership capabilities, as evidenced by her position of Vice-Captain of Douglas House, her role as a Peer Support Leader and as 2IC of the Kinross Wolaroi School Cadet Unit. Emma is a highly-motivated student whose academic excellence and effort saw her achieve many awards during her time at the School. In addition to her academic achievements, Emma was actively involved in the co-curricular offerings at the School. She participated in Triathlon, Netball, Basketball and Water Polo, and also showcased her musical abilities in two school musicals. Additionally, she studied Piano, passing her 8th Grade exam with an A result and she was involved in the Chapel Band, Chamber Strings and Orchestra. Emma is an extremely impressive young woman who has a strong sense of commitment to all her endeavours.
WILLIAM RAWSON | ATAR 98.90 William has been a day student at Kinross Wolaroi for 13 years. He is a mature and impressive young man who has been a consistently high academic performer. William was Deputy Head Prefect and been instrumental in building a positive culture in Brown House, particularly as Director of the House Spectacular performance in 2020. William has participated fully in the co-curricular activities of the School receiving Full Colours for his efforts in ISA Tennis. He has also been a member of the Chamber Choir and Orchestra and has participated in Pedal Prix. William is a reliable and trustworthy young man of immense integrity and commitment.
JESSICA MOSELY | ATAR 98.50 Jessica Mosely has been a day student at Kinross Wolaroi School since 2016. Jessica was recognised for her strong leadership ability when she was appointed Head Girl Prefect, which has required her to organise and run assemblies and services, School events and to represent the School in many forums. Jessica is a highly motivated student who received many accolades over her time at the School. Jessica was appointed CUO of her own Platoon in Cadets, and has participated in the School Musical, public speaking, the Ten4Ten leadership program, Triathlon, Basketball, Water Polo and Netball. Each year, she consistently demonstrated commitment to and independence in learning, a positive attitude to her education and an exemplary record of task completion.
ELIZABETH KWA | ATAR 97.55 Elizabeth Kwa has been a day student at Kinross Wolaroi School for thirteen years. In 2021 Elizabeth maintained the leadership positions of School Prefect, Brown House Captain, Music Vice-Captain, Head of Student Representative Council and Company Commander in Cadets. Elizabeth’s determination and achievement of excellence are evident across all aspects of both her academic and co-curricular involvement, consistently receiving awards for Academic Progress, Effort and Excellence. Her commitment to the holistic offering of the School saw her receive the Caltex Best All-Rounder Award, and a of host of prizes for Musical excellence and the Creative Arts. We thank Elizabeth for her impressive contribution to School life at Kinross Wolaroi.

HSC HIGH ACHIEVERS FERGUS BALDWIN | ATAR 96.35 Fergus Baldwin was a day student at Kinross Wolaroi School for four years. His maturity and willingness to support his peers is a commendable character strength and those around him have enjoyed the benefits of that strength. Fergus was an outstanding participant in House activities and his co-curricular commitments included football, Cadets, athletics and success in ISA Tennis. Fergus also embraced the opportunity to explore and continually develop his aptitude for music across a multitude of ensembles, including Concert Band, Orchestra, Drum Corps and Concert Band.
DARCY MULLIGAN | ATAR 96.25 Darcy was a day student at Kinross Wolaroi for two years. He excelled in all his subjects, especially English. Darcy’s commitment to his studies was rewarded in 2020 when he was the recipient of the Rose Family Prize for Consistent Effort. He was an active member of the Basketball program and he was also part of the Fitness Group. He is a team player but can also take initiative and show impressive leadership when required. Despite only being at the School for two years, Darcy contributed well and maintained an attitude of academic rigour.
JAMES THOMPSON | ATAR 96.10 James Thompson joined Kinross Wolaroi School in 2014 as a day student. During his HSC year he impressed with the mature manner in which he approached his learning and showed that he was committed to making the most of opportunities to improve his overall academic performance. James demonstrated a particular flair for Mathematics and his work ethic and skill helped him secure impressive rankings in 2020 and 2021 examinations. In 2020, his respectful and caring mindset earned him the ‘David and Jean Prest Prize for Courtesy, Character and School Spirit’. In 2021, he received the great honour of serving as Head Prefect.
LARA O’BRIEN | ATAR 96.00 Lara O’Brien was a boarding student at Kinross Wolaroi School for six years. Lara was an outstanding student, devoted and diligent, who has made the most of all opportunities afforded to her at Kinross Wolaroi School. Lara is a highly motivated student who received numerous accolades over her time at the School. Lara’s passion for the environment was demonstrated in the 2019 Climate Strike and the Unicef Drought Summit, activism that was acknowledged with the CS Winchester Memorial Prize for Community Service in 2020. Lara lead her fellow students in community service and was actively involved in co-curricular activities including Water Polo, Hockey, Netball, Tennis, Rowing, Cadets and a TREE Internship.
MACKENZIE JONES | ATAR 95.95 Mackenzie Jones has been a day student at Kinross Wolaroi School for seven years. Mackenzie is a conscientious, highly motivated student with exceptional academic ability. She has been involved in all aspects of school life, particularly the co-curricular program. Mackenzie was appointed School Prefect for Community in 2021 because of her commitment to volunteering and she was also selected for the Ten4Ten Leadership Program. She is a talented sportswoman who has represented the school in Hockey, Netball, Rowing and Water Polo. Mackenzie is a humble, enthusiastic student who has achieved excellence in all that she has pursued.
HANNAH LEISK | ATAR 95.75 Hannah Leisk joined Kinross Wolaroi School in 2016 as a day student. Hannah is a highly motivated student whose academic achievements were regularly awarded. Hannah was selected for international student exchange to Scotland and later attended the French tour to Noumeah. In 2019 she was awarded the Best and Fairest Player in recognition of her positive contribution to her Hockey team. In addition, Hannah excelled in Basketball, was Captain of Richards House and was Cadet Under Officer in 2020. Hannah embraces each opportunity to its capacity and excels in engaging those around her and building positive relationships.

Elizabeth Kwa’s major Textiles project has been selected in the TEXstyle 2022 exhibition. Her work will be showcased with other major projects from around the state at the Muse (Ultimo TAFE) from 8 – 13 March 2022
