Competitive University Pathway Kingswood School has a strong history of success at the most competitive universities in the UK.
Our pathway ensures students are: INFORMED • Introductory presentations start in Year 11, with further sessions at the start of Year 12. • Students and parents understand the steps required to cover the relevant academic, super-curricular and co-curricular strengths. • Guest speakers from prestigious universities provide personal experience, case studies and further examples of latest developments in their fields. • Further presentations in the latter half of Year 12 ensure up-to-date preparation. PREPARED • An initial meeting with staff to discuss interests, options and signposting for actions. Additional meetings are arranged to monitor progress and offer further guidance. • Visits to colleges are arranged, in addition to specific Open Days. • Insights from alumni and academic staff at colleges are shared through the Kingswood network. • Heads of Department and our Competitive Universities team support students to enter relevant competitions such as the John Locke Institute essay competition or the Davidson Inventors Challenge. • Detailed guidance on additional reading lists is provided. EQUIPPED • Small group and one-to-one discussions with subject specialists to help hone additional knowledge. • Interview skills are honed through practice sessions with senior staff. • Practice papers and feedback input are offered during preparation for Admissions tests.
