I am a first-generation Australian born to Lebanese and Syrian parents who has lived in Clarinda for nearly 20 years. I hold a Bachelor of Software Engineering from Monash University and currently work as a Technical consultant. I am incredibly humbled and honoured to be given the trust of our community to represent them for the next 4 years and I will work tirelessly to prove that trust is not misplaced.
As a lifelong local, I have a deep understanding of the needs of our community and what locals want to see achieved in the future. During my previous three terms on Council, I have worked hard to deliver results for the Bunjil Ward area, including a significant investment in family and children’s services, the delivery of a district-level netball facility at Dales Park in Oakleigh South, the new Westall Hub in Clayton South and traffic-calming measures and improved parking management for safer streets. I have worked hard to protect the Green Wedge for agriculture, recreation and rural landscapes, and actively worked to close tips and waste transfer stations to improve amenity. In this term, I aim to further progress the Sandbelt Open Space - Chain of Parks project, specifically the delivery of the Elder Street South Reserve in Clarinda and the Victory Road Reserve in Clayton South. Council will undertake a Masterplan for the delivery of sporting facility upgrades at Namatjira Park, namely for cricket, gridiron and bowls. I will also work to preserve neighbourhood character with further strategic work being undertaken on the Housing Strategy.
My promise is, that I will not be a silent Councillor but proactively handle issues by listening to residents and working with community groups. Now is a pivotal time for our community to come together and overcome one of the biggest challenges we will have to face in our collective lifetimes. I am prepared to step up and work with all Councillors in addressing these next steps through a comprehensive Covid Recovery Plan to ensure we come out the other side stronger, more connected and prepared for the future. I look forward to supporting the delivery of key projects like the Moorabbin Renewal project, progressing the Chain-of-Parks project and working on the Housing Strategy as well as expand our support for our pensioners.
New Councillor and Karkarook Ward representative Cr Hadi Saab was elected as Deputy Mayor.
First elected in 2008, I have served as a Councillor for 12 years, including two years as the City’s Mayor in 2019-2010 and 2027-2018. Professionally, I have previously worked as a social housing policy advisor in the community housing section, a union official and political staffer. I am passionate about social participation, multiculturalism, the environment and the arts.

Hello Patterson Lakes, Carrum and Bonbeach residents of Banksia Ward, thank you to each person who voted for me and supported me in the council election. It is much appreciated! Supporting local business: if you can please support our local restaurateurs and eateries, including Carrum Beach Shack and Yo-Gainz who recently opened on the Nepean Hwy. With many struggling, as Station Street's Freddie's Kitchen owneroperator, Farid Mansour said "it is not about the dollar spent, it is about the relationship." Co-owner, Nino Cuciniello of Patterson Lakes’ Ercolano enthused, "we are ready to embrace customers again in a new ‘COVIDnormal." Life after lockdown: a perfect lockdown escapade is the nearby Craft and Co winery and Melbourne Cable Park, which in addition to our beach, river and nearby wetlands, create an action-packed playground. One of our star attractions are the Christmas decorations adorning canalfronting properties, but please ensure that your navigational lights function. From ballet on the water to creating some spectacular airborne magic, Southern Waters Ski Show Team’s free Christmas event from 4-6pm on 20 December at the National Water Sports Centre, will keep many entertained. A little bit about me: I am a longtime Patterson Lakes resident, with an interest in waters sports, the arts and music. While I have already made representations on various issues, as one of six new Councillors I am still learning the processes. I wish everyone a happy Christmas and look forward to meeting you all.

I have served as a Kingston Councillor for the last four years and worked hard to deliver the best outcomes for our community, from reduced council rates and protecting two-storey height limits to improvements to sporting and community facilities. As a local resident, family man and business owner, I understand the challenges which confront us especially as we move to post COVID-19 recovery. I will support local businesses which create more jobs and provide the environment for our families and businesses to thrive. I will also focus on managing the council budget effectively to continue delivering infrastructure and much-needed projects whilst keeping rates low, protecting our area against overdevelopment, continuing to transform our landfill sites into parks, fixing the recycling crisis, connecting walking trails and bicycle paths, upgrading sporting facilities and advocating for reducing the aircraft noise.
I am a small business owner and have been a resident of Kingston for over 30 years. I hold a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne. I am the current Vice Chair of the South Metro Junior Football League, Victoria’s biggest junior football league for boys and girls. I was a long-term volunteer at Mentone Little Athletics and Mordialloc-Braeside Junior Football Club, where I was honoured to be made a life member in 2012. I also served on Parkdale Secondary College School Council and am a past board member of Chisolm TAFE. I am committed to using my time to make a real change, by consulting and listening. I will listen to our residents and community groups and genuinely work on your behalf. I believe it is important council utilises its resources in an efficient and focussed manner to achieve the best outcomes possible. My focus is on ensuring that our sporting grounds, libraries, beaches, local parks and community facilities are well managed and at the best standard we can achieve. I understand the current pressure on local traders particularly in the difficult COVID environment. Shopping strips should be a place you want to visit with enough parking available. I am focused on making Kingston the best place for its residents.

I’m a local Dad who’s lived in Como-Ward for 15 years and have served as Chair of Save-the-Edgy since the Mentone Hotel closed. Save-the-Edgy successfully campaigned to protect the Heritage of the 130-yearold Mentone Hotel building, as well as dramatically reducing the scale of the residential development and securing a large hospitality space scheduled to open in mid-2021. I also founded Kingston-Save-Our-Streets (K-SOS), which saw Council receive approximately 1,600 submissions objecting to residential rezoning plans. I am committed to working on an improved Housing Strategy and better community consultation. My other priorities include a cleaner, greener and more accessible foreshore and streets, more open space and off-leash dog parks, improved safety and traffic management around schools, more funding for sporting clubs, more support for local traders to help
Thank you to the residents of Longbeach Ward for placing your trust in me once again, to continue to deliver for you. It’s been a pleasure to serve as Mayor for the past two years and deliver great outcomes for you and your family, such as upgrading local kinders, parks, playgrounds, sporting facilities and community centres, as well as completing drainage improvements, particularly through Chelsea, and planting over 10,000 trees. We have done this all within budget whilst maintaining a strong financial position. I will continue to fight for our community and to lower rates, whilst getting the basics right like improving traffic, parking, repairing roads and footpaths, protecting our environment, preventing inappropriate development, and supporting our community through economic recovery post-COVID. I’ll advocate for a purposebuilt local aquatic and recreation centre in the South of Kingston, as well as providing much-needed community facilities for our local sporting clubs and community groups. I’ll also advocate for enhancing community spaces to foster community connectedness by revitalising our shopping strips like Chelsea and Chelsea Heights, upgrading our playgrounds, walking and cycling tracks, and having more markets with local traders to support small businesses. If I can assist with anything over the next 4 years please don't hesitate to get in touch via phone, email, Facebook or even just say hello at the local shops. I look forward to working with you and achieving great outcomes for our great city!
I am an independent councillor who lives in Parkdale. My partner and I both serve the community in the emergency services. Marlie works as a local paramedic and I have a decade of service as a professional fire-fighter. I bring an open and balanced view in assessing our community’s needs, ensuring through extensive consultation you are always at the forefront of any decision making. I have a strong vision and will advocate for vital upgrades to our shopping precincts to help them grow during uncertain times, through better traffic and pedestrian management, parking and improved aesthetics. I will work to upgrade community facilities, childcare and elderly home care and install outdoor fitness equipment. Although rate rises are at times unavoidable, I will advocate for operational cost efficiencies, which is now more important than ever. I look forward to bringing about a transparent vibrant and functional Kingston.

Ready to bowl-in the summer Prepare for a busy summer of local sport in Kingston with cricket, baseball and athletics clubs all ready to open for their seasons following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Local sports grounds are also being booked up quickly for use by many sporting codes that traditionally play over winter, to train after months of lockdowns. This year, Council supported clubs by waiving fees and has overseen the construction of millions of dollars of new or upgraded sports grounds and pavilions across Kingston. Sports projects Council is delivering, include: • new pavilion at Aspendale Gardens Sports Ground (currently in the design phase)
• new pavilion at Chadwick Reserve, Dingley (starting next year) and brand-new oval (completed and in use) • completion of the Roy Dore Reserve Pavilion, in Carrum • completion of the Dales Park Pavilion, Oakleigh South • $5 million in sports lighting projects (to be rolled out over the next couple of years). Council is delighted that Jack Grut Reserve, in Mordialloc is now available for use, as works were completed in March, just ahead of lockdowns.
Siblings Ben and Grace are thrilled to get back to competitive sport.

I love our local community and been an amazing honour to serve as both Councillor and Mayor during my last term. During that time Council secured more open space locally, enhanced playgrounds, support the development of family and children hubs, increased tree plantings, refurbished community facilities and scout halls in need of disability and access improvements and supported local sporting clubs, including upgrades at local netball courts to enhance female participation. I will push to support local business through youth skills development and enhanced local employment opportunities and for Council to use local suppliers to support our local community. I will continue to fight on behalf of residents against inappropriatedevelopment, to supporting local festivals, markets and enhance local facilities (Including a new local aquatic centre). I also look forward to beautifying local footpaths, shopping strips and walking trails to beautify and enhance, along with upgrading disability access in community buildings.

We are a resilient, thoughtful and active community and our sense of connection is our greatest strength. I am truly honoured by your decision to support me as your advocate for Wattle Ward. I will work hard to represent you, your views and be the change you want to see. We have an opportunity to build a collaborative, engaged Council with residents at the heart of decision making. I want to see you be a part of that. We are facing an unprecedented challenge with the significant impact of COVID. Now more than ever we need to see greater investment in our local shops. Investing in our community spaces matter also really matters. Facilities for our rapidly growing population of young families is vital. Last year I became a foster mum overnight to Kinder and school aged kids and I was struggling to find services until Kingston staff stepped up to help. It was life changing and that’s my vision for what Council can be. Climate change deeply concerns me. Green open spaces are so important - we need to see more spaces for us to come together as a community. Having worked with multicultural and Aboriginal communities I know firsthand why art is the lightning rod for community development and growth. Highett and Cheltenham are ready to take a big step up and become suburbs leading change for our future. We are stronger together and with our commitment to community building, I know we will achieve great things for Kingston over the next four years.
I’m a mother of two, wife, teacher and identical twin. I love Kingston and it has been my privilege to serve as your Councillor for the last eight years. Recently, we built new lifesaving clubs, planted over ten thousand trees, started new local sporting facilities, created a junior council and rolled out significant drainage projects. I enjoy sorting out issues that no-one else will and have a history of listening, fixing problems and implementing smart ideas. For a vibrant and active city, let’s make Kingston an exciting foodie’s capital, welcome innovation, support a bold Arts program, create new dog parks, cycle trails, adventure parks and improve sports facilities and playgrounds. I plan to push for no rate rises for two years and to reduce any red-tape and will be the go-to person for support small businesses through COVID. I will also be advocating for the development of the northern Aspendale Gardens wetlands to create new environmental spaces for our community to enjoy and provide cleaner water for the creek.

OUTDOOR DINING Since the easing of restrictions in Victoria, local hospitality businesses have rushed to take up outdoor dining options offered by Council including free Outdoor Dining and Footpath Trading permits and dining pop-up licences.
The owners of two local businesses share their experience of getting ready to trade again. Chefs Scott Horton (pictured below) and his wife Debbie have owned and run Nachos Cantina in Aspendale for 32 years. After restrictions eased they worked with Council to create a 1.7m x 12m outdoor dining space to seat up to 20 patrons. With Council's help they were able to relocate bike racks and use the footpath area at the front of a neighbouring business, allowing them to transform the area into an exciting outdoor dining space with barriers and umbrellas. Mr Horton said it was a small step but they couldn't wait to reopen. The business has also been working on a contactless menu experience to make dining safer and more efficient. Owners of Mordialloc brewing company Wolf and the Willows Scott and Renae McKinnon,
took early planning advice to create an expanded outdoor dining area around their business which can increase its capacity to 100 when allowed. To reopen, they've installed outdoor furniture and picnic tables, made by neighbouring business, All Purpose Fabrication. Mr McKinnon said they were really excited to open and glad they could source locallymade furniture as well. He said 2020 had made them realise the importance of supporting business locally, so they reached out to their neighbours. To support local business recovery, Council has waived the fees for all Outdoor Dining Licences and Footpath Trading Permits until 31 July 2021. We are also offering outdoor dining options through dining pop ups on Council-owned land. For more information, visit kingston.vic.gov.au/ outdoordining
Keeping clearways clear The Department of Transport is introducing changes to clearways. From 1 December 2020, clearways on arterial roads within 20km of Melbourne’s CBD will also include a tow-away zone – so vehicles blocking roads during peak times can be removed, reducing congestion and keeping you moving. This will apply to 12 clearways in Kingston on Warrigal Road, Centre Road, Nepean Highway and Clayton Road. For more information visit vicroads.vic. gov.au/towawayzones
Pokies shutdown benefits community It's estimated over $59 million of gambling losses have been saved thanks to the COVID-19 enforced closure of poker machines in Kingston since late March. The shutdown has not only helped people experiencing gambling harm but may have provided a welcome boost to the local economy as those dollars are spent elsewhere. Kingston Council’s Enough is Enough campaign seeks to minimise harm caused by gambling and promote other activities for people to enjoy.
