AUTUMN 2020

NEW LOOK!

WELCOME Hello and welcome to our new-look Kingston Libraries What’s On brochure for autumn 2020. Today’s libraries are vibrant community spaces offering modern technology, learning spaces and plenty of events & activities. Our new brand reflects this and will be proudly showcased at our new Dingley Library when it re-opens after 12 months of improvement works. You’ll also see our new brand rolled out across all other Kingston Libraries over the next year. As the months start to get a little cooler, it’s the perfect time to head to your local library and get involved in some of the many exciting activities happening through autumn. Every Tuesday in March, Chelsea Library will be staying open until 9pm as part of the Chelsea Twilights program. Come along and check out some of the after-hours entertainment including movies, music and trivia challenges. I’m also looking forward to joining the National Simultaneous Storytime. Come and join me for a reading of Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford and some other fun activities. Cr Georgina Oxley Mayor

Kingston Libraries are excited to present to you our new brand! You will start to see it pop up all over Kingston in the coming months and featured on the face of the newly redeveloped Dingley Village Library!

WHAT’S ON

AUTUMN 2020

Author Talk: Bewildered

Crime Time with Candice Fox

Anzac Day: Our Returned Diggers

Laura Waters is a freelance travel writer and author of travel memoir Bewildered Leaving everything behind for 3,000km in the wilds of New Zealand. The story addresses many themes including overcoming anxiety, the healing power of nature and finding and following an authentic life path.

From Australia’s most exciting and original crime writer comes another electrifying thriller, Gathering Dark, set in Los Angeles and introducing a new – and decidedly unconventional – team of ‘detectives’: a convicted killer, a gifted thief, a vicious crime boss and a disillusioned cop searching for a missing girl.

Historian and lecturer Lucas Jordan, author of Stealth Raiders: A Few Daring Men in 1918, presents a talk about how diggers who returned from the WWI battlefields fared at home. Book sales and signing afterwards.
