A Message from the CEO MAKE THE MOST OF THE WARMER MONTHS WITH KINGSTON ARTS’ ALFRESCO EVENTS, MUSIC & EXHIBITIONS The arrival of warmer weather signals the start of Kingston Arts’ summer program with the ever- popular Maker’s Market returning in December with around 100 artisan stallholders, food trucks and live music just in time for Christmas shopping.

The Lens Mist Photography Award and Exhibition is also on again, with the competition inviting artists to capture an image evoking Port Phillip Bay and responding to the theme Our changing environment. Entries are now open with the top 20 finalists to be exhibited at the Mordialloc Food, Wine and Music Festival and at DFO Moorabbin in March.

The much-loved Pop Up Bar makes a comeback on Friday nights in February in front of the Kingston City Hall with its food trucks and family-friendly live music attracting crowds each year.

Midsumma muliebrity & other collaborations EXPANDED PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALISON BENNETT Kingston Arts presents muliebrity & other collaborations, expanded photography by Alison Bennett as part of Midsumma Festival 2017.

The exhibition will feature a new work, muliebrity, exploring feminine identity and expression in queer culture.

Bennett’s practice explores the performance and technology of gender identity and considers the convergence of biological and digital skin as virtual prosthesis.

Her work has gained widespread publicity, featuring in ABC TV’s Australian Story, The New York Times, Mashable, The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, Motherboard, The Creators Project, KillScreen and The Guardian’s ‘best Australian photographs of 2015’.

Human Rights Day ‘Seeking Safe Haven: The Refugee’s Plight’ KINGSTON FOR HUMAN RIGHTS Kingston for Human Rights celebrates Human Rights Day on December 10 2016 with the screening of the Australian documentary feature film Mary Meets Mohammad. The winners of the annual Kingston for Human Rights Children’s Art Competition will also be announced with art works exhibited in G3 Artspace based on this year’s theme Seeking Safe Haven: The Refugee’s Plight.
