In July, our live music program – Live at City Hall – returns to Moorabbin with ARIA award-winning artists Eskimo Joe and Ella Hooper . Australian music icons take to the stage as our flagship program continues to roll out throughout the year.
We are also delighted to host Melbourne’s best and brightest with SLAP. BANG. KISS. , a new production from the Melbourne Theatre Company and award-winning playwright, Dan Giovannoni.
Magnify , our artist-in-residence program, returns with new opportunities for visual artists. Magnify is a new initiative that encourages creation, collaboration, and career progression for artists in residence at one of our many venues.

Prepare for an intimate evening with rock legends Eskimo Joe as they embark on a national tour, gracing the stages of the nation’s most picturesque theatres. Witness the singer-songwriter in her element.
Ella Hooper’s solo career is flourishing. After three hit albums as the enigmatic frontwoman of Killing Heidi, the singer-songwriter is returning to her country roots.
Hooper’s 2023 album Small Town Temple , with its lyricdriven folk and Americana-influenced songs, was widely hailed as a new beginning for the artist.
Experience Hooper’s deeply personal songwriting and the warm sounds of guitar and banjo. She’ll be joined onstage by multi-instrumentalist Michael Hubbard and supported by artist Melody Pool.

Three explosive events capture the world’s attention.
SLAP. A video of 16-year-old Immi hitting a security officer goes viral. BANG. Sofia’s impassioned speech for victims of a school shooting makes international news. KISS. Two boys lock lips, attempting to set the world record for the longest kiss.
This Melbourne Theatre Company production tracks the interlocking stories of three teens who find themselves transformed into symbols of revolution. Exploring themes of activism and hope, SLAP. BANG. The Heart Whispers and Whirls
Delve into the rich folk traditions stretching from South Sudan to the Balkans in this transportive performance which unites multilingual stories, melodies and rhythms of distant homelands.
The Resonant Heart is an international ensemble comprising Sudanese poet Nyaluelit ‘Lizzy’ Kuoth, Indian classical sitarist Sarita McHarg, Iranian artists Vahideh Eisaei and Elnaz Sheshgelani, and the Balkan and Sephardic Jewish music trio SARAY Iluminado Femme.
The collective will perform an original composition featuring a kaleidoscopic array of poetry, song, dance and shadow puppetry. A Q&A with the artists will take place post-show. Questions in English, Hindi, Farsi, Nuer, Greek, Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian are welcome.

The Resonant Heart: Music Workshops
Learn music and storytelling from around the world in this series of workshops.
Singers of all levels are welcome at ‘The Beauty of Indian Songs’, where Dr Sarita McHarg teaches traditional Indian folk singing with lightness, ease and humour.
‘The Naghali (Persian Movement Theatre)’ workshop is also accessible for all. You’ll learn an ancient style of dramatic storytelling which centres on movement and the human voice.
In ‘The Songs from the Rose Garden’, you’ll delve into the melodies of Sevdah, a traditional vocal form from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Sephardic Jewish women’s songs. This one’s best suited to community musicians and professionals.

A heartwarming portrait of one of Australia’s most treasured entertainers.
Gold Logie winner Jeanne Little was the most popular woman on Australian television in the mid-1970s. The beloved performer, known for her infectious personality and flamboyant outfits, even sang for Princess Diana and toured shows worldwide playing Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe.
Dahlin! It’s The Jeanne Little Show stars Caroline Ferguson as the titular heroine, whose life is recounted seamlessly through song and story. Tracing Jeanne’s humble beginnings to her youthful years in London, to her marriage with Barry Little and her attempts to become a mother and TV star, this play is a loving ode to a fabulous Australian entertainment icon – a woman who did things her way.

Join performers Sam and Josie (Circus Oz, The Little Red Trapeze Company) in this rollicking children’s comedy brimming with daredevil stunts and hula-hoop hijinks.

Puppeteer Jenny Ellis has created a show peppered with fun environmental facts, allowing participants to learn about Australia’s fascinating satin bowerbird as they unravel the mystery at hand.

Puppetry of Paper Workshop
Scrunch, rip, twist, tear! How many things can you do with a piece of paper?
This workshop is based on Bunraku-style puppetry, a traditional Japanese form of theatre which involves multiple puppeteers working closely together to operate one puppet.
Jenny Ellis, a puppeteer of more than two decades, will show participants how to make a unique paper puppet. Participants will learn how to bring their creation to life, and come away with a range of skills that can be applied to any kind of puppetry.
This workshop is recommended for ages 3 and up. Adult supervision is required for children under 6.

Australia’s beloved street art festival, Wall to Wall, has invited Australian and international artists to transform the Mordi Village Industrial Precinct into an immersive outdoor gallery, reviving old walls with world-class murals.
Spend a day admiring large-scale works from Adnate, Smug, George Rose, Filthy Ratbag, Blo, Fred Battle (Zoer), Justine McAllister, Tommy Day, Drez, Jason Parker as well as Mordi Village resident Kyle Brightside.

If you’re a young artist aged 12–25, this is your chance to have your work shown in an exhibition — you might even score a prize.
The Youth Art Expo is a free event inviting you to share your talent with the world. Simply submit an artwork that explores the theme of ‘big dreams’. Any medium is welcome, whether it be painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art or anything else that brings your vision to life.
