Mi'kmaq Voice from the East
k singer-songwriter and fiddler from Nova Scotia, Canada, whose music blends Celtic folk and traditional Mi'kmaq music. He is a member of the Wagmatcook First Nation.
Toney began his musical career as a drummer, but began learning the fiddle in the late 2010s. He met singer-songwriter Keith Mullins, with whom he planned to record an album but found their plans halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He made his debut at the virtual edition of the Celtic Colours festival in 2020, sharing the stage with Ashley MacIsaac.
Toney's debut album First Flight, released independently in 2021. He received a Canadian Folk Music Award nominee for ‘Indigenous Songwriter of the Year’ at the 17th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2022, and First Flight was reissued in March 2022 on Ishkōdé Records, a record label owned and operated by Amanda Rheaume and ShoShonna Kish.
His 2023 album Resilience received a Juno Award nomination for ‘Traditional Roots Album of the Year’ at the 2024 Juno Awards.
Keith Mullins is a singer, so instrumentalist, workshop father.

The Cape Breton native is also an incredibly talented musician who makes others sound better without getting much recognition himself (save his list of industry awards that include two ECMAs and six Music NS titles). After a quarter-century on the music scene, Keith is finally getting more notice as a solo artist in his own right. He launched his solo career in 2010 with the release of Localmotive Farm, followed by Island Sol in 2014, and The Heart of Everything in 2016.
His 2018 album Onward and Upward (with a couple more recordings in between) is upbeat and full of feel-good pop tracks, with groovy and contagious choruses. They were followed by
As a percussionist, guitar player, and vocalist, Keith has been described as a musical chameleon, and his influences include folk, pop, blues, hip-hop, and reggae.

Ryan’s versatility and passion for excellence allowed him to make a very successful living writing, performing, and producing music in Eastern Canada.
His songs have been recorded in the styles of bluegrass, country, jazz, and R&B. He has composed instrumental scores for film, as well as jingles for commercial radio, and has been awarded “Songwriter of the Year” for four consecutive years (2005-2009) by the ‘Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards’.
Roberts’ songs have been recorded by Rose Cousins, Kevin Davison, The Spinney Brothers, True Blue, Justin Carbone, the Jeanette Williams Band, and The Novelty Salesman, among other contemporaries.
Ryan spent some time in Nashville, Tennessee writing and recording material for his sophomore solo album, and performing with the bluegrass band Special Consensus.
