Welcome to the World of Scotia, and our adaptation of this Epic Tragedy Macbeth. Usually when you hear the name of the Title, Macbeth, you think, I shouldn’t say that...something creepy might happen well folks its time sit back and enjoy the ride The original script Macbeth is reviewed as one of Shakespeare’s most intense, impactful, and iconic Tragedies. It is frequently cited as a pinnacle of his work alongside Hamlet and King Lear, but why? Critics often focus on its intense study of ambition, guilt, paranoia, and the human cost of violence, characterized by supernatural elements and blood – soaked drama. Its iconic language renowned for its exceptional poetry features many famous lines that have become central to the English language. Written during the reign of King James, at the time, it was widely believed that King James was a direct descendant of Banquo, and Shakespeare specifically tailored it to the king’s heritage, beliefs, obsession of witchcraft, and personal anxieties With that we fast forward 420 years An immeasurable amount of productions have gone up, which consistently ranks the show among the top 4 most-produced Shakespearean works globally.
It has been my pleasure to direct this show, and my honour to carry the torch of developing this production of Macbeth which now we pass over to this incredible cast whom have spent the last 100 days rehearsing, memorizing, and sharpening these distinct characters in this piece for you all to enjoy The torch is now also carried by all the crew for this show, headed up by the amazing Samantha Mason, the crew keep the sets flowing in sync with the many various scenes over 2 different worlds that the show takes place in, and elevating the production are lights and sound for the show designed to help you feel the human condition and help to provide a high level of entertainment for you to enjoy
I feel very fortunate to have such a talented and supportive crew that have supported myself and also lent their expertise to bring you this awesome show, not only the crew in the backstage but also the professional House Tech team at King's Theatre and of course the awesome Janet Larkman Being able to continue to tell this story at King's has been a dream come true and I'd like to thank them for welcoming us and for being a pleasure to work with
I’m dedicating this production to my mom Nancy Watkins who was my biggest fan who sadly passed away in 2022. Mom was a huge influence for me getting into and staying involved in “show business” and supporting me over the years. This one ’ s for you mom Finally thanks to my wife Shannon and my girls Az and Maddie for supporting me and forgiving me for the time put in over the last 4 months Thank you "The threads of fate are spun, dark deeds will answer, thus it will be done."
