GINA BURGESS

From Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia), internationally recognized artist Gina Burgess is a multi-genre violinist, composer, yoga instructor, educator, and musician wellness facilitator.

A former member of the Juno nominated Iqaluit- based arctic rock band “The Jerry Cans”, a four- time ECMA award winner with the Hot Swing group “Gypsophilia”, and collaborator with numerous ensembles, Burgess is a sought after performer. Burgess’s original music has been described as ethereal, genrebending, and filled with Spirit.

Her latest project “ISNOW” won an ECMA for fusion recording of the year in 2024. This project reflects her diverse experience by mixing classical music with Celtic folk and incorporating contemporary Inuit throat singing with elements of jazz.

After years of touring the globe as a professional musician, Gina Burgess introduces an activity book that compiles the essential practices, insights, and exercises that have allowed her to maintain a healthy balance in an industry that once made her dizzy.

“One Note at a Time : A Musician’s Guide to Health on the Road” is full of simple, sustainable and accessible exercises to increase relaxation, bodily awareness, mental health and well being.

KING’STHEATRE

King's Theatre was built in 1921 by Arthur M. King, and has been at the heart of Annapolis Royal’s cultural community for over 100 years. In recent years we have completed more than $2 million in facility upgrades that includes new lighting, cinema projection, video capture, and sound -- you can expect crystal clear audio for both live shows and movies.

King’s Theatre’s mandate is to be a catalyst for creativity, social connection, learning, and excellence. Presenting live performances yearround, we offer all genres of music, theatre, contemporary dance, comedy, and spoken word. On screen there’s every kind of cinema, from blockbusters and indies to stage-toscreens. We offer workshops and opportunities for local residents to experience performing on stage, with a special emphasis on youth. With more than 200 events a year, King’s Theatre is one of the busiest small theatres in Canada.
