Amaranta De Francisci is an Italian painter and illustrator known in her country particularly for her highly personal images of Italian cities, but for this exhibition she will create drawings of Portsmouth and the Kings Theatre in her colourful and unique style.

Cantando Glee is for anyone between the ages of 8 and 16 who has a passion for performing arts and singing. At every rehearsal you will learn how to safely warm up your voice and rehearse songs from a variety of different genres and the musicals. Cantando Glee perform in at least 2 concerts a year. It’s a great way to learn new skills, make new friends and perform on stage

WEDNESDAY

Babies naturally use gestures to communicate before their first words. Baby signing encourages these natural gestures and helps your baby to communicate before speech.

Mindful Living Club (Last Wednesday of each month) 7pm – 8.30pm

Specially written and adapted songs focus on daily routines like mealtimes and bedtimes and the things children love, like animals and vehicles.

We also use props, pictures, instruments and toys to make a fun and stimulating experience for your baby.

Cantando, Age 16+ 7.30pm – 9.30pm Joining a choir can be a fantastic way to leave the chores of every day behind you and for just one evening a week do something for yourself whilst making new friends and singing! There are no auditions or fees to join. As part of Cantando Female Voice Community Choir you will perform in at least 2 concerts per year. !

KINGS youth THEATRE IS

We take a look back on just some of the highlights of 4 great years and see how the group has grown...

Saturday 24th April 2010 Kings Youth Theatre is launched Two fledgling groups of strangers come together to explore the performing arts – only 20 in the junior group and 11 in the seniors followed by a trip to see Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the Kings.

What did we get up to in 2011: We had a fantastic performance of Alice in Wonderland and members of the senior group attended the National Youth Festival at Chichester Festival Theatre. Plus our very first show at the Kings – Dracula the alternative pantomime!

And 2012: We had our inaugural performance at the ‘Pupils Oscars’ and performed two new stage plays written by local writers as well as conducting ‘Dickens Story Tours’ of the Kings. This was also our first year of performing at A Victorian Festival of Christmas.

2013 – Our busiest year yet!

A group of our senior students represented Portsmouth at the Caen International Festival performing in Caen Market Square to local residents. We performed the hit musical Oliver, attended the Southsea Show and Youth Theatre members earned places in the choir of touring West End show, Joseph.

And this year so far...

We launched our ‘Leading Lights’ group for those members that really wish to challenge themselves in the performing arts and had their inaugural performance at the Kings Open Day in January.

Preparations are underway for our next 2 shows: ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘Oh what a lovely war’ in conjunction with Victoryland Theatre School.

booking INFORMATION Booking Information: You can reserve tickets without payment for 3 days (but not within 3 days of the performance).

Tickets will be held for collection from the Box Office if booked and paid for within 5 days of the performance.

Boxes will usually be released for sale 1 week before the performance date.

Always check your tickets for the start time and to ensure you have the right performance. Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable point but it may not be possible to seat you in your allocated seat until the interval. Some shows do not admit latecomers – this is stated by the performance.

Enjoy the show!

If your performance falls outside of our normal opening hours, the Box Office will open 90 minutes before and remain open for 30 minutes beyond the show start time.

We have a number of bars where you can purchase hot and cold refreshments which open one hour before the performance start time.

You may also order your interval drinks on arrival. Only alcohol purchased on the premises may be consumed and can’t be taken outside the building. Glasses and glass bottles can’t be taken into the auditorium but we can provide plastic glasses.

Accessibility The Kings Theatre is committed to improving accessibility for all of our patrons. We have wheelchair and level access via the Albert Road entrance and provide wheelchair spaces in the Stalls area. The accessible Matcham Bar and toilet are located at the rear of the Stalls.

You may transfer from a wheelchair to a seat on arrival as long as in the unlikely event of an emergency you are able to exit the building without the use of a wheelchair.

Unfortunately the theatre can not provide access for mobility scooters – for those wishing to travel to the theatre in a mobility scooter these would need to be left outside the building.

Infra-red hearing systems are available for Front Stalls and Dress Circle areas, for those using a T position hearing aid or with provided earpiece for performances with amplified sound.
