Exeat Weekends
When boarding pupils first arrive at King’s, parents and guardians are made aware that the school has 3 weekends, called Exeats, when it is closed. In the Michaelmas term, it closes for two weekends and in the Summer term the school is closed for the first May Day Bank Holiday (the first weekend in May).
Based on feedback from the parents and guardians of overseas boarders, for the academic year 2026-2027, our Senior boarding houses will remain open for pupils who wish to stay in school. As with normal weekends, pupils will be able to go into town, visit Cambridge or work in their dorms. Our kitchens will also remain open. The cost will be £125 per night- £250 per weekend, except May when it is £375: this is inclusive of VAT.
Depending on uptake we reserve the right to collapse houses to staff more effectively. Based on the current cost of guardians/host families and travel, we believe this offers a cost-effective alternative for those who would rather stay in school.
King’s Ely students consistently secure a place at their fir st c hoice univer sit y, not just in the UK, but across the world.
