A Message from our Principal Mr John Attwater “I am excited to introduce our new International Performance Pathways in Music, Science and Creative Arts. These innovative programmes of study are designed especially for 15–16-year-old students looking to benefit from a UK boarding school education from Year 11 through to the end of Sixth Form. The Pathways are a set of high-performance 3-year programmes developed to give students greater flexibility, focus and differentiation in their studies. Each allows them to study subjects which they enjoy and which they have already identified as being important for their future studies and career choice. Importantly, the Pathways give students significant advantage as they apply for university. Each Pathway will equip them with the skills and confidence they need to be leading global citizens, and to make a meaningful difference to the world around them. We look forward to receiving applications, and to welcoming students to King’s Ely. The opportunities that await each and every one of them as they travel along their chosen Pathway, are both unique and exciting.”
“King’s Ely offered the perfect balance between academic excellence and personal development. I think the small class sizes really gave me the opportunity to have one-to-one support from the teachers, which helped develop my thinking skills and fostered my passion for my subjects.” Allison, now studying Medicine, University of Manchester

“I came to King’s in Y11 and studied Music, Textiles and Maths A levels. My most memorable experience was playing a concerto in Ely Cathedral with a wonderful orchestra – it was the most amazing opportunity and inspired me to continue my musical career.” Sayuri, now studying Classical Piano at London Guildhall School of Music and Drama
“My son Cyrus was given significant guidance and support during the university application process, and is now studying Chemistry, at University College London, his first-choice university. I’m so proud of him and his achievements, and his time at King’s has been fundamental to his success.” Donna, parent of Cyrus, now studying Chemistry at University College London
University Applications In developing plans for stand-out and successful university applications, students are • encouraged to think broadly about where and what they might like to study • given suggested super curricular work such as additional reading, work experience, project work, external courses, lectures, competition entries • supported in applying their supra curricular work to enrich their university applications

“The Fine Art Department has been central to my time here. I was consistently pushed beyond my comfort zone, encouraging me to approach art from unexpected perspectives and to set my ambitions high. Beyond the classroom, King’s Ely have given me the space to pursue my interests seriously. I founded and published Palette magazine and competed in the Cambridge Plein Air competition. I subsequently exhibited and sold my work at Modo Gallery in Cambridge. Three years on, I leave King’s Ely more confident, more independent, and proud of what I’ve built – academically, professionally and personally.” Moon, now studying History of Art at The Courtauld Institute in London
How to Apply We are looking for exceptional 15–16-year-old students who are motivated, curious and intellectually ambitious: who want to achieve, who can demonstrate ability and interest in their chosen subjects and who want to go to a leading university in their field. They should be looking to commit to a 3-year programme. Applications are open for September 2027 entry and will require • completion and return of the school’s standard King’s Ely Registration Form and Fee • submission of the separate Performance Pathway Application Form, including Music audition tapes, Creative Art portfolios or evidence of student’s interest in Science • evidence of English Language competency at B2.3 (as a minimum) • passing of the King’s Ely Password entrance assessments in English and Maths • attendance at an interview with our Director for International Students (either online or in person), followed by an interview which may include some practical tests or activities, with the relevant Head of Department
“Having been in King’s Ely for a year before Sixth Form, I think the move to Y12 was much easier as I didn’t have to adapt to a completely new environment before A-levels. Also, during my time in Y11, I made some great friends who also moved up to Y12 together, so the transition was very smooth.” PiaoPiao, currently studying Philosophy, University of Cambridge
