TALK WITH KINGS

We have had an amazing year in Mathematics, star ting with excellent results from the summer examinations, par ticularly from our A-Level M athematicians and Fur ther M athematicians. A special mention for our early entr y GCSE students who per formed brilliantly and have gone on to be the schools first GCSE Statisticians this year. A huge thank you must also go to our Year 12 students and in par ticular Noor Daudi for successfully organising the depar tment ’s most comprehensive peer mentoring programme yet.

We have been on an exciting journey, each year group has per formed admirably in the Dubai M aths Super League whilst in school we have seen some intriguing mathematical investigations along with some excellent exhibitions of problem solving across the year groups. Year 7 in par ticular impressed with the variet y of approaches on display as they tried to calculate how many descendants of a girl would attend a family reunion par t y 100 years af ter her 12th bir thday. Both the students and staff had their mathematical curiosit y piqued by our whole school “Go Low or Go Home” competition, the corridors and classrooms buzzed with discussions about strategy as pupils used their logic sk ills to tr y to become the overall champion.

Finally, a fond farewell to our Year 13 students, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Mr Bradwell Head of Secondary Maths

“M athematics has been ver y enjoyable. From day one as a student who wasn’t confident or comfor table, I have been able to overcome the challenges I had encountered during GCSE M aths while tak ing on the new challenges presented by A-Level. Learning new topics and principles while building on things that I had learnt previously was a lot of fun. “ Pranav Kalra, Year 12 “ This year, I have really enjoyed the diverse topics in both M athematics and Statistics. I t has helped me develop new interesting and valuable sk ills that I will take for ward into A-Level, universit y, my job(s) and for the rest of my life. I do not think I would be the person that I am today without M athematics.” Antoine Christian-Gabriel Mauger, Year 11
