“ What I enjoyed about this visit was using the vir tual realit y headsets to see what Dubai was like before all the development and as a deser t. This experience really enhanced my k nowledge of the UAE.” Gabriel Marie A van Erck, Year 7

We star ted the year with great success in H istor y with our GCSE results gaining the best in the school and in the UAE, with a special mention to Annabelle Johnson for gaining the award for the best results in the world. We have been on a journey of analysis and arguing our way through the pages of the past. Our KS3 students brought to life the battle of Hastings, delved into their own historical past and engaged in lively debates on whether the First World War was significant or not. Our KS4/5 students had the oppor tunit y to engage in a H istor y masterclass with Rehan K han, who discussed how historical research can formulate the basis

for some of the best fic titious writings our world has seen. We also were for tunate enough to have Oral H istor y from M r and M rs Hoare about their time in the British Army during the time of the Berlin Wall, whilst also showing how they can adapt their historical sk ills in many different fields. As always the histor y team has been blown away by the minds and ideas of our budding historians.

“Achieving these awards was unexpec ted; therefore, I would first like to thank my teacher Ms Adams, my peers and family for suppor ting me through my GCSEs. Although as a subjec t histor y fascinates me, the amount of information, key dates and names were challenges I faced whilst studying for these exams. However, they were a catalyst for my motivation to succeed. I hope to achieve more k nowledge and awards such as these in the future.” Annabelle Johnson, Year 12
