We asked all of our GCSE students in their ver y first lesson “ how do you become a successful entrepreneur?” and allowed them the whole term to gain k nowledge and enterprise experience in order to be able to answer this enquir y question. Once a month, we saw our K ings’ communit y come together in the form of our business breakfast mornings.

Parents were invited to share their business exper tise and experience with students allowing them to have the k nowledge they were learning in class come to life. Tycoon gave all students at K ings’ the oppor tunit y to develop their enterprise sk ills and gain the experience of star ting up their own busines. We had teams from KS2 all the way up to KS5 tak ing par t. The creativit y, hard work and amazing enterprise sk ills of our students was evident at the K ings’ winter festival, with 12 student businesses operating on the night. We were thrilled to see our KS5 team, Spec trum, go for ward to win the overall Tycoon International Competition.

K-Fac tor was an event the Business BTEC students planned and ran at the end of Term 2 as par t of their course. There was significant planning behind the scenes and the run up included promotion days, meeting sponsors and organising rehearsals. The talent show was an amazing success and it was a great showcase for the new BTEC courses, which are hands- on vocational courses. I t was a ver y proud moment for our depar tment and we can’t wait to run

it again next year! Miss Keating Head of Secondary Business
