TED LOUGHER Headmaster
A heartfelt welcome to King’s and to another exciting edition of Centenary Soccer! We are thrilled to bring together so many gifted teams and their fans for two days filled with energy, sportsmanship, and passion for the beautiful game.
To the players: give your all, support one another, and show respect to your opposition. Whatever happens on the pitch, whether you win, lose, or draw, the true measure of success will be the integrity, teamwork and spirit you display. To the fans: please back our referees, encourage every team, and make yourselves heard: your generous enthusiasm really lifts those on the pitch.
I am hugely grateful to all the coaches for their tireless dedication in guiding and inspiring these young athletes. My thanks also go to our grounds staff for maintaining such superb facilities at Kingsway, and to our catering team for ensuring everyone is well looked after. Please do enjoy the refreshments available.
I wish you all a wonderful time and look forward to sharing this special celebration of football with you. With very best wishes.

RULES
1. Squads may consist of up to 10 players with matches following a 6v6 format. It is encouraged that all squad members get equal playing time.
2. All matches will be 8 minutes one way.
3. No Heading – There will be no deliberate heading of the ball. Any deliberate heading of the ball will result in an indirect free kick. An indirect free kick is taken from the spot where the ball was deliberately headed. However, if a player deliberately heads the ball inside their own penalty area, the referee will stop play and award an indirect free kick to the opposing team from the nearest point on the edge of the penalty area where the offence occurred.
4. Kick-ins/dribble-ins – Instead of a throw-in, a pass-in / dribble-in is awarded. The ball must be stationary on the touchline at the point where it left the pitch and all opponents must stand at least 5 yards from the point on the touchline where the pass-in or / dribble-in is to be taken from. A goal cannot be scored directly from a pass-in. The ball must touch another player before a goal can be awarded (players cannot dribble-in and then shoot).
5. There will be no offsides, roll on subs can be taken with the referee’s permission and no back passes allowed.
6. Goalkeepers cannot kick from hands, they must either roll, throw or play from the ground.
7. All attacking players must retreat to the halfway line at a goal kick for U8 and U10 Tournaments only.
8. Please ensure you are at your pitch before the end of the preceding match.
9. There will be 3 points awarded for a win and 1 for a draw.
10. Places will be decided on points for, goal difference, goals for, head-to-head result and, if needed a sudden death penalty shoot-out.
11. If the knock-out matches are tied at the end of normal time, there will be a penalty shoot-out of 3 per team followed by sudden death penalties. Different players must take these.
12. All players must wear shin pads.
