Welcome to our very first International Kingfisher Family News! Every quarter we will be aiming to keep people up-to-date with all that Jesus Christ is doing in terms of growing the Kingfisher Family around with the world, which is quite a task as things are expanding so rapidly.

The prophet Zechariah once declared: Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand." (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.)

(Zechariah 4:10, NLT) He was referring to the rebuilding of the Temple - an enormous task that seemed overwhelming. This verse could well be applied to the vision given to us 25 years ago to build an international family of churches and ministries that would see lost people reached around the world, people who would have their lives transformed through coming into a relationship with Jesus Christ and become fully devoted followers of Him. It seemed like an overwhelming, completely unlikely vision - and yet, 25 years later, we see

that vision being worked out in Africa, in India, in the Philippines, in Macau, in Europe, as churches are planted, leaders are trained and equipped, humanitarian projects impact desperate lives.

Although many churches have been planted under the umbrella of Kingfisher, particularly in Africa and India, Kingfisher is not a denomination. We are equally as comfortable blessing, encouraging and resourcing existing churches and ministries as we are in launching new projects that use the name ‘Kingfisher’. Our desire is to be a blessing in God’s Kingdom throughout the world in whatever shape or form is relevant.

This year has been one of great growth for the International Family. God is on the move, taking the small beginnings and causing them to grow and impact an increasing number of people around two world.

• In Malawi, six new pastors were recently ordained to launch out into pastoral ministry • In Mozambique, 12 pastors were ordained, as the work in that country continues to expand despite the ongoing civil war • In the Philippines, 30 pastors graduated from the leadership training program (level 1 - ‘Called to Leadership’), 38 people were baptised and a further 38 children were dedicated • In Macau, we were invite to speak with a group of pastors about the vision God has given us at Kingfisher, and Pastor Edwin Alfaro has begun to lead his church (Living Word Bible church) in the Kingfisher Discipleship training course.

• In Spain, a group of churches - The Fellowship of the King - has asked to come under the oversight of Kingfisher, as they minister along the south coast of Spain both to locals and to expats.

• In India, exciting things are happening in the Punjab, a region that straddles northern India and Pakistan. New churches are opening, people are coming to the Lord and we will be visiting that area later this year to hold leaders training events and evangelistic meetings.

WHATEVER YOU DO FOR ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE… We are privileged at Kingfisher to be able to respond to various needs around the world through our annual Harvest Appeal. Whether this is focussing on mosquito nets in Africa, the earthquake disaster in Nepal or the refugee crisis across Europe, we aim to do all we can each year to express the love of God in real, practical ways to those who have the least and are often overlooked. In 2016 we gave generously over £2000 to provide for the education of the children of a remote tribe in the Philippines - the Dumagat - and to provide them with ginger seeds to plant and grow crops to sell in future years.

What sustains and empowers all of this are the prayers of the saints. This is the third year of our International Day of Prayer initiative - one day when all the believers in the Kingfisher International Family commit to coming together in prayer to lift each country up, to intercede for the Lord to bring about great breakthroughs and pour out great blessing. We launched a prayer initiative earlier in the year called ‘Adopt A Country’, which gives people the opportunity to focus on a particular country in the International Family and become a prayer warrior for that country. Recently, our National Director in Malawi, Charles Mithowa, was burgled, with many of his possessions being taken. We shared this with many in the family around the world via social media and it was wonderful to see people immediately praying for Charles and his family, in India, in the Philippines, in the UK. We are a family, and family supports each other, cares for each other, prays for each other. In that instance and so many other instances, we experienced the power of synergy - the spiritual power that is released when brothers and sisters come together in earnest prayer.

Do you have a heart for this world, but wonder what possible difference you could make? Do you long to see God’s Kingdom growing in this world, as more and more lost people come to find a saving, transforming relationship with Jesus Christ and rise up to become fully devoted followers of Him? Do you want to see thousands of believers who are in the midst of revival in their own countries praying earnestly for you in your local church? The vision: To unite thousands of Christians around the world to pray on one day, for Church, community, nation, and our world.

Launched in 2013, this powerful day focusses the prayers of believers around the world in prayer for each other and for this world. This year more than at any time in living memory, the world needs the believing, passionate, committed prayers of Christians. Believers around the world are being persecuted for their faith, by terrorist groups such as ISIS, but also by governments that are militantly opposed to the Christian faith. We pray for each other believing that "If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. " (Matthew 18:-9, NLT) We stand together in the midst of uncertainty and persecution to encourage and uphold each other. But this Day of Prayer has a greater aim: to see thousands coming into the Kingdom of God as they say ‘yes’ to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We are praying on 23rd June for a global harvest of souls, that the Great Commission would sweep over our countries and bring revival to our nations!Don’t let this God-given opportunity pass you by! Be part of a day that will impact this world and make history. Pray in your church, pray in your small group, pray in your family, pray wherever you are. We don’t pray because it is the only thing we can do - we pray because it is the BEST thing we can do!

Launched in January 2017, this initiative encourages people to become prayer warriors for a particular country. Whilst the International Day of Prayer gives us all the opportunity to pray for all countries in the International Family, the Adopt A Country initiative gives people the opportunity to focus in-depth on one particular country that the Lord has placed on their heart and ‘stand in the gap’ for that country. Each Prayer Warrior is provided with a Prayer Update every quarter to keep them informed about how prayers are being answered and what specifically needs their prayers at that particular time.

Every country in the International family is covered in prayer - your country is being prayed for by intercessors and you can join them and become part of this initiative. Meeting key people in the International Family There are thousands of amazing people involved in Kingfisher International Family, but starting here we are going to meet some of the key leaders. In this issue we meet Simon Haq, the National Director of Kingfisher in India Simon is an evangelist and church planter, who has overseen the growth of Kingfisher in India since its launch in 2011. Called to preach the Gospel and plant churches, Simon has been used by Jesus Christ to bring thousand of people faith. He travels extensively both in India and abroad, speaking at evangelistic events and has a particular passion to see Hindus come to faith in Christ. Simon has been the National Director of Kingfisher in India for the past three years. As well as being our National Director, Simon is the CEO of Christian Family Association in India.

Dumagat Education Project Arising from the Harvest Appeal of 2016, where money was raised in part to provide school equipment for the children of the Dumagat tribe, a vision was birthed to provide ongoing support for the children to enable them to receive an elementary school education in Bulak, the village at the top of the mountain, with exercise books, pens, pencils and other equipment provided. In addition the vision was to provide accommodation for those children who are attending Sibug Elementary school, in the town of Sibug at the bottom of the mountain.

We asked for people to become sponsors of this project, committing just ÂŁ5 per month over a five year period. Over 30 people responded and we have been able to establish the Dumagat Education Project so that all the children can receive the education they deserve.

The Future: where is the International Family headed?

This year I have been on a world tour of countries where Kingfisher International Family is active. The Philippines and Macau in April, Malawi and the boarder with Mozambique in May, India in early November and Spain in late November. I have been doing this out of a conviction that, is summed up by Numbers 9:15-17,

Increasingly we are being asked to provide guidance, training and oversight from communities of believers around the world.
