Welcome to our 2024 Autumn Issue of Kingdom Woman Magazine! We’re overjoyed to give you another glimpse into our community and hope our previous issues have inspired and encouraged you.

Fall is the perfect time to pray that God’s command in nature reflects your personal life.

With leaves turning into bright autumn hues, pray that God’s perfect timing will reveal the undeniable beauty that His hand is on your life. I once heard a good friend say, “You are going to like what your life looks like when God completes His work.” And oh, how beautiful it will be!

Autumn takes me back to my time living in Virginia near the mountains, where the fall foliage was at its peak. While driving down the streets, picturesque hues of orange, yellow, red, and green flood the trees. But let’s not forget the leaves that fall to the ground as a reminder that there comes a time when certain things must fall off of us. And just as the fallen leaves are replaced, we cannot fret to release what’s needed as God renews our losses, bringing us something fresh, new, and often even better. Take a moment to embrace the crisp, clean air of fall as you meditate on the Creator. Take joy in embracing this season, and remember, when it’s your time, your life will reflect the beautiful hues that only the Creator brings.

“This is a Whole New Generation!” a millennial’s perspective of Judas’ betrayal

A little laughter lightens the day

It's amazing to see the unique flavor God has infused into every person and ethnicity. In the rich diversity of His creations, we often find humor in the different perspectives each culture brings to life. In this issue's segment, I’m switching things up by sharing a story from an African American young lady who posted a video reimagining how she would have handled Judas betraying Jesus.

Before we dive into the story, I need to give a shoutout to “sisterscheckin” on TikTok, as they posted the video in a reel. Before we go into the details, let’s get familiar with a few colloquialisms from the African American community. ‘Thug Thizzle’ is a phrase that means ‘doing what you do well or sticking to your personal script.’ ‘Fixin-to ‘—pronounced ‘fittina’—is a term used to express getting ready to do something.

And ‘day’ is the pronunciation for ‘they.’

Now let’s dive in. Picture a millennial African American young lady reenacting the biblical story of Judas’ betrayal with passionate hand movements and a solid urban accent. The title of the post, 'This is a Whole New Generation,' sets the stage for the unique and humorous take on this biblical story. She starts by saying: "God really did His "Thug Thizzle" when He picked His disciples, because personally, it couldn't be me! You ain't "fittina" sit up while I'm eating my lemon pepper wings and tell me that somebody at this table "fittina" betray You. Where dey at?..... (while moving around, looking in various directions as if she's looking for the one who will betray Jesus). She adds, “Who is it? Put a name on it!.......

Put a name on it!..... Who's snitching?

Who's snitching? I'm telling you, it would have taken the WHOLE army to get me off of Judas!!!.." Then she breaks out into a simulated fight, saying, "Let my hair go!

Let my hair go!" [1]

The reel got over 250,000 views. I could hardly contain myself when watching it.

If you watch the original video, you must bleep out one word in the simulated fight between the young lady and Judas. I must point out that we do not subscribe to harsh language.

Beyond that, there is a greater picture; this young lady will fight for the kingdom's sake!

In the same way, let us not forget Peter, who, in a heated moment, cut off a Roman soldier's ear, and Jesus repaired it on the spot! Peter also denied Jesus three times, yet in all this and more, Jesus chose Peter as a church leader and called him the "rock of the church."

So, I pray that you find joy and humor in this scenario. Keep laughing, as there’s always room for smiles and fun, even within the church.

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose" (Romans 8:28 AMP).

In life's journey, everyday experiences can offer profound insights into our spiritual path. Allow me to share a recent lesson that resonated deeply with me. One Saturday morning, my daughter and I visited a familiar shopping center with our favorite stores. Exiting one store, we headed toward a completely different but familiar shopping center.

However, we missed what we thought was the closest exit to our intended destination.

My daughter was driving, and frustration escalated as she exclaimed, "Now I have to drive all the way down this long road just to make a Uturn." Seeking to ease her frustration, I suggested, "Turn left at the next intersection. Skeptical but willing, she followed the advice and while on this new road she kept driving straight. Much to our surprise, we found ourselves exactly where we wanted to be –much quicker than the traditional route.

Wrong Turns & Right Destinations

The lesson? Life often brings us what seems like 'missed opportunities' and unexpected detours, leaving us disheartened. When we make mistakes or people exit our lives, we may feel like we've missed the exit to our destination, thinking we can't reach it. But when God sees that we're relying on something more than Him, He shows us there's a better route—in many cases, a shorter path. It’s a route that only He maps out. What seemed like a missed turn is actually a "new route" leading to deeper trust in God. So don't worry about the detours or exits.

In other words, God "causes all things to work together for our good." So, keep driving down the road of life. Keep trusting, knowing that when you make a wrong turn, or someone exits, God has the power to help you 'arrive' at your divine destination.

Fiery Faith!

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6).

God has always been with me.

But I must say, it hasn't always been easy. Yes, I've been through the fire, so let's talk about 'fiery faith.' I define 'fiery faith' according to Hebrews 11:1: "Substance or confidence in what we hope for, and the evidence or assurance of what we do not see." Naturally, faith is a firm trust, belief, or confidence in a person, thing, or concept.

Since anything that is 'fiery' relates to fire, my concept of fiery faith is a strong conviction ignited by an intense, powerful, and passionate belief that cannot be easily extinguished. It is an undying faith that shines boldly and vibrantly.

Faith Tried In The Fire!

I was concerned for my unborn child. People tried to get information to contact my husband. I remember having the worst headache and began to cry.

As the paramedics checked me, one of them said, "She is going into shock."

But then something happened: a petite woman with short blonde hair knelt beside me and said, "May the peace of God be upon you now. Rest in Him. He is right here with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Your baby will be fine.

Your baby will be born in 2000. Receive the peace of God!" And she left.

When I was pregnant with my son in May of 2000, I was hit by a drunk driver who ran through a stoplight. I was alone in my car and wearing a shirt that said, "Baby 2000," with an arrow pointing to my pregnant belly. After the airbag was deployed, I collapsed in the street because my body felt

When my husband arrived, I told him about the woman and asked him to find her.

After several minutes, he returned and said he couldn't find anyone fitting the description. I was transported to the hospital and felt at peace until I arrived in the

Emergency Room.

The commotion, cutting off my clothes, and police officers checking on me triggered my emotions. I began to fear for my baby because I felt no movement. But recalling the woman's words ignited my faith!

My faith was all I had at that moment, so I held on to it, trusting in God, the Great I AM, who can do anything but fail! After being placed in a private room, my OB-GYN came by to check on me and asked if I felt any movement.

When I informed her that I hadn't, she performed an

ultrasound. At first, I could not see what the monitor was showing, but the reaction on my physician's face said it all.

She turned the monitor toward me and said, "He is just fine." I began to see and feel movement. However, I had to remain in the hospital on bedrest for further observation. At that point, I needed no further reassurance. God protected me and my unborn child. Even today, I am overwhelmed with joy and gratefulness to God. My story could have been very different. It was indeed a test of my faith! I persevered through it with fiery faith by recalling the Word of God sent by His messenger.

I believe the petite woman with short blonde hair was an angel, a messenger sent by God to speak peace to my mind and ignite my faith. My son will soon be 24 years old; he is a college graduate and doing well. To God be the Glory!

Why We Need Faith Hebrews 11:6 emphasizes the importance of faith: "But without faith, it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." This reminds me of a quote from the late Evangelist Billy Graham on faith. He said,

"Everything we do is by faith."

[1] He explained that we trust and have faith in everyday things we often take for granted. For example, we believe the chair we are about to sit in will hold us up. We trust that the food prepared for us is safe. We drive our cars, believing we will reach our destination safely.

Graham said, "Take that same faith and put it in Jesus Christ, and you will know who Jesus really is."[2]

To cultivate strong faith, we must first know who He is. We must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, learn of Him through the Word of God, and develop a relationship with Him. Developing a relationship with God builds our faith and confidence in Him. The more we put our total confidence in God and His word, the more He will show us about Himself.

Cultivating strong faith is important because life's trials will test our faith. If we know God, the author and finisher of our faith, and trust His character, we know that no matter what we face, if we keep our faith strong, all things are possible to those who believe.

My Recent Leap of Faith

Faith’s Obstacle

At the beginning of the year, I stepped out on faith to host a ministry event that God had laid upon my heart. Despite not knowing how I would pull it off, God provided everything needed, and the event was powerful, with many attendees experiencing empowerment, healing, and deliverance. Following this event, I was struck by an unexplainable illness that affected my physical abilities and appearance.

Despite numerous medical visits, tests, and medications, no diagnosis was found, and nothing alleviated my symptoms.

Some things can hinder us from maintaining strong and unwavering faith: unbelief, fear, distractions, pride, and painful situations, such as the death of a loved one, loss of a job or separation and divorce, to name a few, as well as having a limited knowledge or understanding of God's Word and the lack of a prayer life.

These obstacles can cause us to have little faith or lose faith altogether.

After receiving prayer and prophetic words, I realized it was a spiritual attack due to my obedience to God. Frustrated with lacking medical answers, I turned to God and said, "God, I refuse to spend another dime and time seeking help from others.... instead of trusting You. I will reactivate my faith and trust You to heal. me!"

Next, I researched healing Bible verses, ceased taking the medications, made daily declarations, increased my prayer time, and in a few days, the symptoms were gone. To God be the glory!

Through this process, I learned something about myself. I trusted the doctors and medications more than God. Now, I know that while there is nothing wrong with seeking professional help, and doing practical things, don't neglect God in the process.

However, growing in God and knowing His Word builds and strengthens our faith. When we spend intimate time with God through a lifestyle of prayer, worship, and His word, He becomes the object of our faith. When He becomes the object of our faith, we become totally dependent upon Him for all things, trusting Him to bring us through every obstacle and challenge with victory.

4 Practical Things to Increase Your Faith When it comes to faith, we must recognize that there may be situations where our faith is challenged and could be stronger. In our walk with God, some things may be easier to trust Him with, while others may be more difficult, especially if past experiences didn't turn out as we prayed for. In those moments, be honest with God about your

feelings, and like the father in Mark 9:17-29 whose son needed deliverance, ask Jesus to "help your unbelief." Here are some practical steps to build your faith and produce a stronger and more consistent relationship with Him: 1.

Learn about God studying His word.

Dedicate time to pray, study, and worship God. Ask God to increase your faith in weak areas.

Exercise your faith, because, like a muscle it strengthens when used.

My Guiding Scriptures The following Scriptures collectively emphasize the power of trust and faith in God. Romans 8:28 reassures believers that all things work together for their good when they love God and are called according to His purpose.

Romans 15:13 speaks of the joy and peace that come from trusting in God, leading to an overflow of hope through the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 41:10 offers comfort, reminding us that God is with us, providing strength and help. Proverbs 3:5- 6 encourages complete trust in the Lord, promising He will guide our paths.

Psalm 37:4-5 highlights the importance of delighting in the Lord and committing our ways to Him, ensuring

our desires will be fulfilled.

Psalm 27:14 and 42:11 emphasize the need for patience and hope in God, who strengthens and uplifts us. Psalm 91:1-2 declares God as our refuge and fortress, where we find safety. Jeremiah 17:7 and Jeremiah 17:14 stress the blessings and healing of placing our hope and trust in the Lord. Ephesians 3:20 praises God's ability to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine through His power within us.

Lastly, 2 Corinthians 5:7 calls believers to live by faith and not by sight, trusting in God's unseen plans and purposes.

To this, I offer closing thoughts from Romans 10:17, which says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Through the Word of God, our knowledge of Him, and our relationship with Him, we can cultivate a deeper, more steadfast faith in our lives. Yes, faith comes from hearing the message, which is heard through the word about Christ (Romans 10:17, NIV). In the Scriptures, we learn about God—His character, attributes, and the miracles He performed. He is the Word. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the

Word was God" (John 1:1).

Additionally, God's Word tells us about His children and what's available to us. We are heirs and joint heirs with Christ.

God's Word hasn't changed, and neither has He. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. And indeed, it is not in His character or plan to hurt or harm His children.

According to Jeremiah 29:11, God prospers His children and gives us hope and a future.

So, when things happen that shake our faith or get us off course, remember that if God allowed it, it's for a reason.

Could it have come to draw us closer to Him or produce " fiery faith" that pleases Him? Whatever the case, when doubt and fear try to take control of your mind, recognize that it's not from God but the enemy.

God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Combat all negative forces with the Word of God. Keep a tight grip until you see what you are believing God for. Your faith and obedience to God will cause His promises to manifest! And your 'fiery faith' will ignite the faith of others as it glorifies God.

Though many refer to avocados as vegetables, they are actually fruits—specifically berries—from the Lauraceae plant family, which also includes the cinnamon tree.

The Problem Hey sis! Let's dive back into this much-needed subject. We've got some deep stuff to get into when it comes to intimacy, or in other words, sex. Yes, I said it because we all know the desire for sexual intimacy is real, even in the church! In Part 1, we talked about the first three words starting with 'P' – the 'Problem.' The Problem is the elephant in the room, the mask church women wear to appear as if they don't want sex.

This facade is an attempt to appear alright, as if we harbor no desire for the physical touch of a husband. We do this because we want people to call us holy. Meanwhile, there's an internal inferno burning. And you know what I mean. That's a 'Problem,' if not handled correctly.

One remedy we mentioned is "Going boldly to the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16) as boldly means freedom of speech. Picture talking to the Lord honestly and respectfully telling Him exactly how you are feeling on a given day, especially the

days when you want to jump in a bed with a man. I know this is direct, but if you avoid being honest with God, you might confide in the wrong person—someone who can't truly help you and might even cause more harm. For example, sharing these feelings with ex-lovers or the wrong friends can lead to disaster.

Remember, Satan wants you to turn to the wrong people, knowing they might push you closer to sin.

On the other hand, you'd be surprised how the Holy Spirit can help you if you rely on Him. Start with candid conversations with God. 20

Practically speaking, I once inquired how my physically fit sister stayed so fit. She responded, "I don't bring junk food, chips, and high-calorie snacks into my house. Why? Because I can't resist them." And I am afraid many of us are still bringing the wrong people into our environments. We think we can handle it, but we cannot.

Wait for the Holy Spirit to speak.

Establish a rhythm of prayer and fasting before you face your hottest days. Without it, victory may be out of reach, and your rhythm might end up in the wrong place—between the sheets instead of being in sync with the Lord. God designed our bodies to go all the way. It can be difficult to stop these powerful feelings suddenly. For this reason, we do not play with fire. Fasting and praying can help calm the internal fire. While it won't take away your desire for sex— you'll need that heated passion in marriage—it will help to keep it under control by constraining you.

The Process Can a man take fire into his bosom and not be burned?"

(Prov. 6:27).

Many women struggle with the 2nd ‘P’ meaning the ‘Process' or what to do while waiting for a husband.

I had an old friend who, many years ago, confided in me. She confessed that frequently when getting together with her boyfriend to 'chill,' their time together resulted in passionate sex. I responded, "If you know this, then why go to his house?" My response wasn't earth-shaking, but it did make her think. Sometimes, we seek an earthshaking revelation when the answer is simple. No. Don't go.

The New Life "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Ask yourself, if the new life has begun, and how has this changed your dayto-day practices? Are you still up close and pushing the envelope in your relationships with men? Know your non-negotiables. You must make up your mind that sex (and fondling) before marriage is out of the question. If there is any gray area in your mind, Satan will send someone who senses your weakness, 21

and before you know it, you'll be between the sheets. More than anything else, ensure you get your love straight with God. Because when you love God, it breaks your heart to break His heart—making it less likely that you will give in to Satan's schemes.

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. When you remind yourself of this, you will value what you hold and not want to defile it. If you fall, know that God's grace covers you, but don't take advantage of it. Repent meaning change your behaviors. Intrinsic in this change is cutting the cords of things that lead to sinning.

The Promise "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty."

(Isaiah 55:10-11).

The final 'P' stands for knowing the 'Promises' of God, which can be a powerful source of strength when you're feeling challenged. Let me pose a question: Imagine you were flat broke and had been for a while, but your trustworthy parent told you, "I have a $20,000 monthly annuity waiting for you, but you'll have to wait until you're 28 to receive it. Until then, live off what you earn from your job."

Now, I don't know about you, but as

for me, hearing a promise like this would cause me to walk differently!

Just thinking about the promise fuels my obedience!

And that's precisely how God wants us to live. In the hard times, the good, bad, and ugly days, we should reflect on His word and promises, trusting that He's faithful to fulfill them. God doesn't make empty promises—His word never returns void. Reflecting on God's promises can help us stay strong when temptation arises. When you're having a rough day and feel the urge to pick up the phone to 'Netflix and chill,' remember what's ahead for you. Ask yourself: Is it worth risking what's coming for a fleeting moment of pleasure followed by guilt?

Stay The Course I know it isn't easy, but staying the course is worth it. Trust in God's timing and His promises. There will be days when men will hotly pursue you, and you will hear the Holy Spirit say, “Don’t get into that relationship!” When you feel weak, remember that His strength is made perfect in your weakness —(2 Corinthians 12:9). Lean on Him, immerse yourself in His word, and surround yourself with supportive, like-minded friends who keep you accountable.

Your faithfulness now will be rewarded in ways you can't even imagine! Keep pressing forward, girl.

But I was lonely.”

llow me to share one lesson I will never forget.

My name is Suzanne, and I'm a young Christian woman. For years, I've wanted to get married because I'm 32 years old, and let’s face it, the clock is ticking. So I’m getting nervous.

I have no children, but want some. And since I want to please God, sleeping around or pregnancy before marriage isn't an option. So, marriage is the goal. But how can I get married when all the guys I date want sex? They don't seem interested in marriage, and I blame myself because there are times I usually break down and give them what they want.

But something happened to change my life. One of the worst days of my life turned into a pivotal moment. It started when my ex-boyfriend John called me. Now, John isn't an average-looking guy; he's fine! So, turning him down is difficult! He called me.

I saw his number on the caller ID and knew I shouldn't pick up the phone. But I was lonely. So, I answered and heard, "Hey babe, long time no see.

Let’s get together tonight."

Immediately, I felt the Holy Spirit gently say, "Tell him no and end this call immediately and politely!" But I didn't listen. With every sweet and cunning word, he told me how beautiful I was and how he missed the soft touch of my skin. A man hadn't touched me in a while, so I said, "Sure, let's do dinner at my house, chill and watch a few movies."

Around 7 pm, John arrived looking better than ever! As I invited him in, he gently pulled me toward himself and gave me the most luscious kiss I'd had in years! We never made it to dinner as we headed toward my bedroom.

Then something happened. As John removed his shirt, he didn't look like himself. Instead, he looked like a demon! I shook my head, thinking I was losing my mind! But every time I looked at John, he looked the same. All I kept seeing was a very dark beast-like figure standing there like a man with his shirt off. I knew it was supernatural and it freaked me out!

Then two Scriptures flashed in my mind as if a movie were playing: "The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10) and James 1:14-15 "But every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death."

As these words flashed before my mind, I yelled to John, "Get out!"

What's wrong, babe?

I don't know, I only want you to leave now!

If I leave, I'm never coming back!

And before he could finish his sentence, I yelled, I don't care.....Get out!

As tears rolled down my cheeks, I continued dressing. John stormed out of my room, left the house and jumped in his car speeding away! There I sat on the edge of my bed, with tears rolling down my face, crying out to God to forgive me! That day, I learned five things: 1. I learned to never open the door to Satan because he comes to destroy, not bring life.

2. Anything that's tempted me in the past must be ultimately, not partially removed.

3. Don’t take advantage of God’s mercy & grace.

4. Know your trigger points. Mine was picking up the phone when I know I should not.

5. It’s better to be alone than to be out of fellowship with God. For whatever reason, God allowed me to have such a vivid vision of what was happening in the supernatural realm, I am thankful because it helped me make the best decision ever: Go forward, girl, and don’t look back!

RESCUE MISSION

Sometimes deliverance comes by simply holding on to the broken pieces.

Pools, in their duality, offer both respite and danger. Life, too, mirrors this dichotomy, with unexpected trials sweeping in like hungry predators. But in the midst of turmoil, God stands ready, and powerful, to rescue His children.

Throughout the Scriptures, narratives of divine rescue abound. In Exodus 3:7-10, God hears His children's cries and intervenes, underscoring His intolerance for oppression.

Consider the woman in Matthew 9:21, afflicted for twelve years with ceaseless bleeding. She was beyond drained. But her unwavering faith propelled her to Jesus.

She pressed through crowds, touched the fringes of His garment, and received her healing immediately. Her story teaches us that faith is a powerful 'mission' that leads us to Jesus.

The key message I want to emphasize comes from Acts 27:27-44, which tells a powerful story about the importance of holding onto what remains. Paul knew they were sailing into dangerous waters and tried to warn the crew, but they ignored his advice. The result? In verses 14 and 15, it says, "But not long after, a violent wind, called Euroclydon, swept down from the island." This storm ripped the ship apart! In our own lives, we sometimes find ourselves caught up in situations where others make decisions beyond our control. Even when we know their choices lead to trouble, we must weather the storm with them.

But before things fell apart, an angel of the Lord spoke to Paul, telling him that everyone would survive, although the ship will go down. After the storm, some swam to shore and others on planks or debris from broken pieces of the ship.

Sometimes, our divine rescues don't unfold how we imagined. It might seem impossible to mend your current situation with shattered pieces all around. Whether your brokenness stems from your marriage, a lost job, financial struggles, family issues, illness, or relationships with friends or fellow church members, I urge you to tune into the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit.

Listen Do you sense God urging you to "Hold on to what is left?" Strengthen what remains (see Rev. 3:2). If so, as you seek deliverance, cling tightly as instructed.

Those broken pieces may be the very 'flotation device' you need on the pathway to deliverance.

If you stay aboard, you won't lose your life or everything. God has a way of bringing His children to safety, even when all that's left are broken pieces. Reach out to Him, for He is still in the business of rescuing His people! I pray you follow the Lord's guidance. Remember, the One who holds the universe in His hands is still actively comforting, delivering, and rescuing His children from every drowning situation.

“The others held onto planks or debris from the broken ship.

So everyone escaped safely to shore” (Acts 27:44, NLT).

VISION OF THE TAR-COVERED WOMAN

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death (Jam. 1:14-15 NLT).

I am grateful that the Lord blessed me with this vision while praying. It's a vision of hope and deliverance! In this vision, I saw a woman covered in black sticky tar lying on the floor. It was as if she were mixed into the tar and onlookers couldn't determine that a person lay beneath. This represents someone in an entanglement who no longer looks like themselves and is unrecognizable to others.

Then, a demon in the form of a man grabbed her by the hand, and she emerged from the tar and began dancing with him.

She was absolutely mesmerized, unable to hear anyone talking except the man she danced with. After dancing with the man (which represents sexual intercourse), the Lord brought to my mind that the act and shame made her rush to the bathtub to cleanse herself. She did this to cleanse physically and to help her feel as though she had washed away the guilt that burdened her heart.

Though she was physically cleansed, she remained supernaturally covered in tar. I witnessed her struggle to escape the tar, and next, I saw the image of Jesus on the Cross. As one drop of His blood touched her, it melted through the tar, proving to be the only force powerful enough to break through the entanglement.

This is the transformative power of Jesus' blood, a beacon of hope for those trapped in life's snares.

When the vision ended, I heard the Lord say, "Many of My daughters are drawn away by the 'pursuit' of a man." We must beware of the hands that come to pick us up off life's floors as all aren’t from God. Instead, they are temptations to entice us to dance and drag us away from God. Someone reading this is urgently searching for an answer, a way to break free from what they're entangled in. Perhaps you or someone you know is stuck in life's tar, captivated, mesmerized, and 'dancing with the devil.' Their ears are blocked, and they cannot hear anyone or anything other than the one they are entangled with. The Bible tells us that sin begins in our hearts, leading us to be 'drawn away,' just like in the vision when the demon lifted the woman from the tar and entranced her in a sexual dance. The good news is that the Blood of Jesus disintegrates entanglements. If this vision speaks to you, find a quiet place and pour out your soul to Jesus. He is ready to touch and deliver you. As you have that conversation with Jesus, expect His transformative touch. It’s a touch that brings life and breaks all entanglements.

I’ve never known this quote to be truer remembering the year 2020the global pandemic, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” In retrospect, the best of times and the worst of times, but in the most honest reflection, have become traumas that are still being lived out. During a moment of communality to our humanity where life as we knew it changed. Routines changed; workplaces changed; commerce changed; healthcare changed; religious practice changed; who and what we previously had access to changed. Who knew then, as I soon began to unpack, even still now, the weight of access denied?

The undeniability of the weight of restriction. The breath-taking weight of the loss of control.

Truthfully, many of us have not even scratched the surface of the impact and behavioral side effects of those experiences.

The Apostle Paul enlists at least nine times in the New Testament a faith best compared to a race we run. “Do you not know that in a race all runners run...” (1 Corinthians 9:24a NLT). It’s the ‘all runners run’ for me.

I can vividly recall moments when I did not feel like I had the energy or the capacity to run. With a tear and a chuckle, I offer a huge pause because, simply, all races are not equal. In one year my mother

I, like many, were running a race with a moving finish line.

Undoubtedly, we each have an emerging past tense post-pandemic narrative of how we navigated loss, identity, and faith. As Christians, our faith testifies, in the words of the hymnologist, to ‘How we got over.’

experienced a life-altering medical event, and I was given my first pastoral appointment. A paradox of grief and joy. The phenomenon of love that transcends time and space. The juxtaposition of fear and fearlessness of the trifold full-time demand of the call: caregiver, pastor, and employee.

The weight of it all.

I discovered, and perhaps today, many others are being called to unlearn and relearn how to carry the weight.

On the one hand, we experience the benefits of learning to handle weight, lift weight, carry weight, and endure the wait. After all, isn’t that what makes us stronger and improves our endurance?

The mental, emotional, and physical weight of life that builds our faith muscles and shows us the miracle of perseverance. On the other hand, we experience the detrimental effect of this very same weight, which depletes, imprisons, and imbalances us.

I discovered, and perhaps today, many others are being called to unlearn and relearn how to carry the weight. The unknown author of Hebrews proclaims, lay aside every weight, throw off everything that hinders, strip off everything that slows you down (Hebrews 12:1). Could it be that some of us have been carrying this weight all wrong? Could it be some of us have been carrying weight that’s not ours to carry? Surely, I had been preconditioned to carry weight from the generational strength of independent self-sacrificial women who held down families, communities, and churches at the expense of their wholistic health. “I have to get this off my chest!

My journey now includes encouraging readers to engage the weighted demand of a reimagined self-care that requires faith’s intentionality to the mind, body, and spirit. “You were running well who hindered you from obeying the truth” (Galatians 5:7). Here is where we must declare and dissect our truth. If Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, then where has my way, my truth, and my life got in the way? How often and how easily do we allow the heaviness of life to dim the clarity of the Truth? May this be our opportunity to revisit our truth. This is my ‘now’ informed truth; by revelation in the Word of God, I must lay aside every weight. I must throw off everything and everyone that hinders me from running this race.

This a truth that must be recalibrated in prayer. It takes prayer to know the race marked out for us. This is a truth that requires surrender.

Some weights we carry we have disguised as trophies to victory but really are masking our detours and denial. It takes surrender to lay aside weights like unforgiveness, unmet expectations, and hurt to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. What a miraculous weight transfer occurs when we release the weight and run by faith. By faith, may this truth usher us into a season of weightless victory—a divine release of all the weight and the waiting you were never called to.

Or going into your favorite store for only three items on your shopping list but finding yourself with a basket of seven-plus items, knowing your goal is to be a better steward of your money. Growing up in church, I often heard saints say, "Life is a trip with knowing the Lord; how are so many people handling living without Him?" My goodness, how those words ring true as I've gotten older!

We see the power of divine guidance in John 16:13. In this passage, the word 'guidance' in Greek means 'to lead and teach into truth.’ This guidance is not only for spiritual matters but also for practical matters of daily living, such as eating healthy and budgeting finances. It all matters to God. When we submit to things like, "Don't eat that 2nd cookie," we see God working through us with one of the most powerful words to our flesh…

"NO"! When you and I make the morally sound decision to listen, God is right there cheering us on, and that's something the demons in hell cannot destroy!

In this life, we will face many decisions. But I encourage you not to overlook the small ones, the gentle

promptings of the Holy Spirit as they lead us into victory! God is calling us to a higher level in Him, and this ‘partnership’ with Him brings guidance, truth, peace, joy, and abundance. He wants you to live life abundantly. Yes, victory awaits us —So let's rise to the occasion and embrace His guidance every step of the way!

Let the Holy Spirit lead and guide you into abundant life.

REST IN HIS PROCESS BECAUSE HIS JUSTICE PREVAILS

I

n the tumult of life's battles, where faith is tested, and enemies seem to lurk at every turn, it's easy to feel besieged, like victory is a distant dream.

Yet, amid the chaos, there's a reassuring truth: God sees it all: every trial, every

injustice, every whisper, every blockade erected to thwart your journey toward blessings. The Bible tells us that the Lord's "eyes are in every place beholding the good and the evil" (Rom, 12:19-21).

"This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt" (1 Sam 15:2, NKJV).

But what happens when the wounds run deep, when the attacks strike at the very core of who we are? When slander stains our reputation and becomes an obstacle threatening our destiny? In these moments, the temptation for retaliation looms, whispering sweet vindication in our ears. Yet, as tempting as it may be to take things into our own hands, the Bible tells us, "Vengeance is the Lord's. He will repay (Deut. 32:35).

I will always remember an experience I had at a former employer. Disturbed by my achievements and awards, my boss made the job arduous and miserable. As a manager of nearly 100 employees, I exceeded benchmarks and took my departments to new heights. Yet, many nights, I couldn't sleep in fear of approaching the next day at work. I thought, what will she do next? What lie would she believe? Things escalated, and a few days before leaving that position, God

spoke to me about it and said, "Write this down. It's dangerous to fall into the hands of an angry God." At that moment, I was assured that God would handle it. Then I took the message, wrote it on a Post-it note, and placed it on my computer.

I didn't quite grasp all God said until I was guided by 1 Samuel 15: 2, where God says I didn't forget what Amalek did. The Amalekites were descendants of Amalek, an ancient biblical nation living near Canaan. They attacked the Jewish people when they escaped from Egypt. Because of this, God told Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven" (Ex. 17:14). God commanded Saul to eradicate the Amalekites. But Saul disobeyed, sparing Agag, the king, and the best of their livestock. This angered God. Thus, the prophet Samuel chastised Saul. To execute God’s command, it was Samuel, not Saul, who killed Agag the king (1 Sam. 15:32-33).

Now, let's examine punitive damages and their connection.

Legally, punitive damages "punish defendants whose conduct is considered grossly negligent or intentional."

When awarded punitive damages, they serve as a warning to deter others from committing similar acts. When God awards punitive damages, He holds your enemies accountable for their intentional harm, and gives you retroactive pay. The extent of your recovery award can also reflect the depth of the harm and the things you couldn’t see. God is fully aware of emotional damage, blockades to divine destinations, and malicious heresy. He sees everything, and He takes notes.

Always remember, amidst the chaos of conflict, there is hope, for I have borne witness to the miraculous hand of God, turning the tables on my adversaries and blessing me beyond measure. In His mercy, He transforms our trials into triumphs, our setbacks into stepping stones to greatness. He ensures that the visible award counters what others do in secret against us.

Just as God kept His word concerning the Amalekites (1 Chron.

4:43), He will certainly make up for what you've endured. So, take heart—God's justice is inevitable and He will not rest until it is served. Trust His timing, believe in His promises, and know that "punitive damages" await those who trust that God handles His business. I pray that this promise of divine justice fills your heart with hope and anticipation of a brighter future.

AND YOU MAY NOT KNOW IT

Throughout your journey with God and in life, you will inevitably encounter tests.

I vividly recall an experience from my undergraduate psychology class that perfectly illustrates this. During the final exam, despite having an "A" average, I needed to do well to maintain my grade. As I wrestled with the exam, my anxiety intensified with every student who finished early and glanced my way as if doubting my competence or my ability to pass the course. As the class emptied, my anxiety heightened.

The room was a pressure cooker, and I was trapped inside. My pen hovered over the final questions, my mind racing. I felt the professor's eyes on me as knots tightened in my stomach.

What was he thinking? Was he silently judging my slow pace, questioning if I’d make it through?

The clock ticked mercilessly, with only two students remaining. My breath hitched as the professor stood up, his footsteps echoing as he approached my desk. With each step, the tension within me swelled, my heart pounding like a drum.

Then, without a word, he looked me dead in the eyes and reached down to take my test. Panic surged through me.

With a trembling voice, I managed to whisper, "I'm not done. Did I do something wrong?" He shook his head slowly, leaning close to whisper, "You've passed the test. Go home and enjoy your summer."

Relief flooded through me, my heart racing as I gathered my things. When I finally saw my grade—a perfect ‘A’—I knew that moment would stay with me forever.

Issue 3

I've taken the time to tell you this because someone is in the middle of a test. You've been faithful to God and struggling to maintain your walk and cadence. You've endured through the process. And now God wants you to know you've passed the test, and you may not even know it.

We see an example of testing gone right in Abraham's story. The Bible says, "Sometime later God tested Abraham" (Gen. 22:1). He tells Abraham to sacrifice his only son as a burnt offering at a specific place. Then Abraham says something interesting. He tells his servant, "Stay here with the donkey while the boy and I go over there.

We will worship and come back to you" (see Gen. 22:5). These are words of faith as an example to us that when tested, ‘say what you want to see!’

Issue 3

Abraham and Isaac headed toward the mountain with wood and supplies. But they didn't have a sacrifice, so Isaac inquired concerning this.

Abraham's response was the Lord would provide one. Note, again he speaks words of faith! When they reached the place of sacrifice, Abraham built an altar, arranged the wood, and bound Isaac on the altar. Then, as Abraham picked up the knife, midstream, the angel of the Lord spoke to Abraham and said do not kill your son. God provided a ram in the bushes and Abraham didn't have to kill Isaac.

The lesson is, pray for sensitivity to God’s voice as at midstream He may call your test quits! Once you have successfully demonstrated what God is after, He can call the life’s exam done at any moment. With a sharp ready Issue 3

knife in hand, Abraham likely didn't know he had passed his test. One way you will know you passed the test is God interrupts something major. And when you sense an interruption, look up to heaven and ask God to reveal what He is saying.

I encourage you to show up for the tests of life. Ask God to increase your sensitivity to His voice so you will know when He says the test is over, and you have passed.

Life gets difficult, and you may not always know how God will fix all the details of your testing seasons, and that is alright. But do know this: God always has a plan, a ram in the bush, and the power to call the test done and passed at any moment! That's something to stop, praise and rejoice about now.

As William Shakespeare once said, "There are sermons in stones." With that in mind, let me share a lesson I learned from my computer mouse.

It was a challenging season— things unraveled, and rejection blindsided me, forcing me to look to heaven for strength. Amid this chaos, my laptop’s mouse suddenly stopped working while typing. Frustrated and pressed for time with a mountain of work ahead, I wasn't ready to shop for a replacement in stores. So, I quickly ordered a different kind of mouse, with nextday delivery online and I resolved to press on without it until the new one arrived.

Later, I tried the old mouse repeatedly until it started working again. So, I kept using it; although it was bulky and didn't fit my hands well, it worked enough. The new mouse arrived on time, but I was in no rush to open the package because I had an alternate iMac and mouse to use.

As time passed, I decided to use the new mouse. And much to my surprise, it was absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe how quickly, precisely, and smoothly it performed.

I thought to myself, I would have never discovered this mouse if the other one hadn't broken down. Using the older mouse was like working twice as hard, clicking several times for results—whew, it was so frustrating.

So, what's the lesson? Sometimes, God allows things to break down so that we can discover an alternate, and often less frustrating, route. When a breakdown happens, we should look up, knowing there's a divine plan waiting for us to discover if we dare believe and seek it. To do this, we must trust in God's 'providence.'

Although 'providence' is not a word found in the Bible, some Scriptures reference God's guidance, government, care, way, and deeds, all of which legitimately represent the concept. In God's providence, He upholds and sustains His creation.

John Piper defines providence as "to see something and supply what's needed." [1]

Scriptures highlighting God's providence can be found in Nehemiah 9:6 and Psalm 104:27-31, demonstrating how God sustains everything. A key verse is Romans 8:28, reminding us that God, being concerned for us, orchestrates every detail of our lives for our good. We can also look to the story of Ruth; even when Ruth faced hardship, God's guidance and care were evident throughout her journey So, if you are experiencing a hardship or a breakdown in something, could it be that God, in His providential care is guiding you toward an undiscovered option? Sometimes, the breakdowns that cause detours are temporary and sometimes permanent. God will reveal which one it is.

I pray you don't fret over life's breakdowns because God sees what we cannot. He knows when redirection is necessary. God loves you so much that He does not want you to miss anything essential to fulfilling His purpose. And because of this, He sometimes reroutes us, even if temporarily. I encourage you to embrace life’s breakdowns because they are often the gateways to breakthroughs and the road to experience a new level of His guidance and care.

When you are in the "flow of God," aligned with His purpose and plans, this attracts God's rewards and favor.

But, when out of the flow, you miss unusual acceleration, uncommon supernatural breakthroughs, destiny helpers, divine appointments, and resources. She credits prayer, praise, worship, pursuing God, and getting in His presence as requirements for the uncommon supernatural "flow of God." She adds that when you are in the flow of God, it becomes not just a season but a lifestyle.

In the essential and impactful podcast series "Miracles at Midnight: Top 3 Secrets of Highly Successful Kingdom People," Dr. Whittaker illuminates three characteristics of successful kingdom people. A Quick Word

Let me begin by saying, “In His time, He made me beautiful.” Now allow me to share how God’s word touched my life.

One day, as I was pouring out my frustrations to God about life, I longed for change. If you've ever waited long for anything, you know how frustrating it can be. But giving up was never an option.

Instead, I brought my concerns before God in prayer. In that moment, He spoke to me through His Word, guiding me to Ecclesiastes 3, which beautifully speaks of "timing" and the "various seasons of life."

As I studied, I noticed the contrasts in the text, such as "a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted" (3:2) and "a time to tear down and a time to build up" (3:3).

These examples show that better days are ahead, even if you're currently facing a challenging season. It's important not to get stuck in your current situation or fixate on what isn't happening.

If you keep reading, it says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time" (3:11). In other words, there is an appropriate time for beauty fulfillment. It may not look good right now, but keep trusting God. You don't need to see movement to believe God is working. You can be in a situation for years, even decades, and then suddenly, your entire life shifts! I’ve been there and experienced rapid change like this!

Beauty Is Coming!

Imagine it this way: Think about the Chinese bamboo plant. You have one that was planted some time ago, and although you know it's there, you don't see any signs of growth. Year after year, there's no indication that anything is happening—nothing at all. But then, in the fifth year, something remarkable happens—a sudden and dramatic shift.

In just six weeks, the bamboo shoots up to an astonishing ninety feet tall! Yes, you heard that right—ninety feet.

The plant that lay dormant for years explodes with growth and beauty, reminding us that you don't have to see progress to believe that God is working.

God has a set time to apply His divine Miracle Grow to your situation. Then, boom! Great things start happening out of nowhere. That's the kind of God we serve. I pray these words encourage your heart. Until next time, see you on "A Quick Word."

IN HIM “IN HIM WE LIVE, MOVE, AND HAVE OUR BEING” ( ACTS. 17:28).

Now is a great time to chat about our "hims."

What am I talking about? Let's start by reflecting on Acts 17:28: "For in Him we live and move and have our being," which shows that all we are and have comes from Jesus Christ. Let's face it: we all want to be loved and to love. But sometimes, we can get a bit off track by giving the "hims" in our lives God's rightful place. Whether married, single, or considering marriage, it's good always to keep God at the helm of our hearts and to add this as a frequent prayer point.

Let's break down the theme Scripture into three parts: live, move, and have our being. In this context, "live" originates from a Greek word meaning "to be alive" or "to derive your life from." This serves as a reminder that God is the source of our life and the very reason we exist. Although God blesses us with relationships and people to love, we must be careful not to place anything or anyone at the helm of our hearts above Him.

Next, let's discuss "move." In the original Greek, it means "I set in motion." The very reason that we have life is that God set life in motion. We cannot breathe without Him. We cannot move without Him. The word "move" also includes "stir or excite." He's the driving force of our lives. He excites and ignites life!

Lastly, "being" is derived from a Greek word that suggests "exist, or I am." In other words, we exist because He is everything. When we view life through this lens, we are less likely to place people at the helm of our lives. I encourage you to live in Him, move in Him, and acknowledge that you exist in Him. Because He loves you and knows that when He's in the rightful place, all of life's other things "will be added to you" (see Matt. 6:33). I pray this reassurance fills you with confidence and peace that life only happens because of Him.

SHE BROKE The Box

Worship Even When You Don’t Feel Like it

It was a Sunday morning church service during praise and worship. I couldn't shake the sense of heaviness within a young lady making her way to the microphone. So, silently, I offered a prayer on her behalf. As she began to sing, a profound shift occurred.

The presence of God swept through the room like a rushing river, and something broke!

At that moment, the Holy Spirit whispered to me, "She broke the box." It was a humbling realization. As I looked at the young lady leading worship, I marveled at how our God uses His servants even in their moments of heaviness. After service, I spoke with the young woman, and she confirmed what I believed. What she experienced reminded me of Ephesians 6:10, urging us to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Notice, it's His might, not ours.

But what does she broke the box mean? The Scriptures recount the woman's story with the alabaster box, meaning a vial—a sealed flask preserving precious perfume, which could only be opened by breaking its neck.

This poignant moment of the alabaster box took place in Bethany, at Simon's home, amidst the backdrop of Jesus facing betrayal and imminent danger. Despite the chaos, this woman approaches Jesus with her alabaster vial of costly perfume, an act of profound love and sacrifice worth a year's wages.

The narrative, depicted in Mark 14:3, illustrates a profound sacrifice and depth of love. Breaking the vial and pouring its contents on His head symbolized her act of devotion. The oil, valued at a year's worth of wages, drew criticism from bystanders who deemed it wasteful. Yet, Jesus defended her, recognizing her gesture as necessary for His burial and a significant act of kindness.

Further, breaking the seal signifies unlocking a valuable aspect of oneself, akin to the sacrifice of praise and worship. The young lady leading worship may not have felt like singing or worshipping fervently, but she exemplified reliance on God's strength. And she knew something would break if she could get in His presence! We all have days when we are burdened and don't feel like worshipping. But it's during such times that we must lean entirely on His power. In doing so, God works wonders beyond imagination.

Today, are you feeling like you just don't have it? Perhaps you do not feel like praying singing, preaching, being a super mom, wife, sibling, boss, or employee. And that's alright because you can claim an Ephesians 6:10 day. I love the Amplified Version, which says, "In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and the power of His [boundless] might."

Whether in your prayer closet or publicly, when you draw strength from God, the wind of the Spirit pushes you forward and enables you to accomplish what you cannot do alone. God's touch will bless you and others. To the young lady who sang from her spirit (and you know who you are, smile), I say keep breaking the box! Keep offering God the most valuable part of yourself. And to everyone reading, I encourage you to do the same. Offer God the sacrifice of worship, even when you don't feel like it. Push through because there's a breakthrough waiting for you.

ISSUE 3

WHEN LIFE IS 'LIFING' God is God(ing)

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.

So we may boldly say: The LORD is my helper; I will not fear” (Hebrews 13:5-6).

It’s all so true the phrase, "Life be lifing."

It's a reminder that life's anything but ordinary, throwing curveballs and challenges our way when we least expect it. Yes, life happens. But while we understand the practicality of this, as believers, there is more. We have hope that's seated in the Word of God. Psalm 34:19 reminds us that despite many afflictions, God delivers His children out of them all. Another way of saying this is when 'life is lifing, God is God(ing).'

Luke 18:1 tells us to “Pray and not faint.”

Even on the worst days of our lives, when the dust settles, we have hope. But what does this mean? The Greek word for faint means "lose heart or grow weary." So, no matter what happens in life, whether loss of loved ones, job, sickness, stress, broken relationships, pain, misunderstandings, rejection, financial issues, confusion, marital issues, or workplace stress, whatever the problem, pray and don't lose heart.

Regardless of life's challenges, God remains steadfast by your side.

And there is more. Hebrews 13:5 says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

When we faint, we forfeit God's available help. Jesus never promised that challenging things wouldn't happen or life wouldn't be "lifing." In fact, He said in this life there will be trouble, but defy sadness and giving up because He overcame the world as a testament to our deliverance (see John 16:33). Sure, life gets tough, but with God by your side, He will see you through it all. So remember when life is lifing; It’s okay, because God is God (ing).

LIVING WITH EXPECTATION

“Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

And He marveled because of their unbelief” (Mark 6:5-6).

Picture this: you pray, but you’ve started to doubt if God can truly bring about something extraordinary in your life. The clock of life is ticking, and you see no tangible signs of change. You’ve grown accustomed to the status quo, resigned to the belief that this is how things will always be.

But have you ever considered that your faith and expectation, if restored, could bring about a miraculous change in your life?

The Bible tells us that Jesus couldn’t do any miracles in Nazareth. As we look closer, we find that their lack of faith conflicts with Jesus’ mission to provide miracles only to the faithful.

This same kind of conflict exists in the hearts of believers today.

your ability to do something great.

What if they verbalized that they didn’t expect anything extraordinary from you. I encourage you to expect God to move in a great way! Tell God, “I expect the great!” Do not look to anyone to come through for you more than the Father. His promises are sure.

And when God sees that your faith pleases Him, you have created an atmosphere for God to move.

Therefore, take a huge step of faith.

Let your heart swell with anticipation knowing that faith has the power to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Don’t exist—live with the anticipation that God will amaze you at any moment with His greatness!

Refuse to put emphasis on life’s time clock. Instead, let the clock of faith tick and countdown to your divine breakthrough.

God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him (Acts 17:30 NLT).

I was taken aback when I first uncovered the hidden idols in my life. Being a Christian that loved God, I’d yet to recognize the importance of prayerfully making the prayer point, ‘Lord open my eyes to see any idols!’ For years, Satan cleverly concealed certain things, hoping I'd never find them, break free from their grip, and dismantle them.

I learned that just because you do not worship statues, astrological stuff like the sun and moon, or anything else visible, many believers unknowingly worship idols embedded in their everyday lives. Because of this, if you are a believer committed to pleasing God, I urge you to open your heart and prepare to dismantle the

MOTHER SPEAKS Mother Pauline Ziegler

If you could have seen her, I would say, “Don’t let her long Pentecostal old-school dress fool you!” She had a power with God that likely gave hell a nervous breakdown! Her words were always seasoned with grace. She was my godmother, and her name was Mother Pauline Ziegler. She loved the Lord and said, “I asked God for three children, and God gave me all three of you.”

I will always remember how Mother Ziegler was like a walking encyclopedia of God’s Word, with teachings that were simply powerful! Imagine an old-school church mother in a long dress with a big heart and a prayer life strong enough to dismantle darkness. After our grandparents passed away years ago, Mother Ziegler and her husband stepped into that role for us, becoming like our grandparents. I will share a few gems of wisdom I learned from her. So, let’s start with the first one.

God Cannot Fill A Closed Hand

As a giver in God's kingdom, Mother Ziegler taught my siblings and me to give unto the Lord. Picture this: She'd ask us to stand up.

We would stand there, bright-eyed, gazing at Mother Ziegler, curious about what she was about to say. She would place a piece of money in each of our hands and close our fists around it. Then she’d say, “If you keep your hands closed, you’ll probably hold onto your money, but God can’t bless a closed hand.” Next, she would gently open our hands and say, “If you keep your hands open, give that money to God, and help others, God can bless you.” This principle has guided me throughout the years.

If You Lie, You Will Steal

Well, I know you’ve probably heard this before, but there is value in revisiting it.

Mother Ziegler believed that lying was just the beginning to a life filled with abominations. To Mother Ziegler, there was no such thing as what the world calls “little white lies.” She believed the Word of God that says lying, is one of the six things God hates (Proverbs 6:16-19). I have a good longterm memory. At around the age of 10, I remember sitting in her living room, attentively listening to her. I got chills as she talked about God telling us how great He was and how lies look to God. So even as an adult, these principles guide me. And when I’m tempted go astray, her teachings come to mind.

Wash Possible and Impossible

Okay, go ahead and laugh because this is funny but so true! And because of the way it’s presented, I bet you will never forget it.

Picture me as a young girl, attentively listening as Mother Ziegler saying, “Wash what’s easy to reach, the possible, and what’s not so easy to reach, the impossible.” Now I know you may think, well, I’m full-grown and don’t need to revisit this. But my sisters, now and then, there is someone who garners value out of a practical principle like this. And perhaps if these things don’t speak to you, consider that they may be something to share with your children or grandchildren. So, I am thankful for the small practical lessons that helped me to remember, don’t just wash what’s easy to reach: wash what’s difficult.

GOD’S THREEFOLD

REQUIREMENT “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you, But to do justly, To Love mercy, and walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).

Have you ever wondered what God wants from you? Well, in Micah 6 God breaks it down into three things. God states His requirements by telling His children to love mercy, do justly, and walk humbly. It’s just that simple. But let’s look at it in more detail. Here we have God metaphorically "pressing charges" against His people. God speaks to His prophet Micah as He argues His children are unjust, merciless, and unkind. He states His case and says, "O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Testify against Me" (Mic. 6:2). God recites His resume of deliverance from Egypt and how He annulled the curse of Balak. Yet, His children remain unfaithful. And even though God states His case against His children, the theme of "mercy" resonates throughout the account, as seen in 6:8.

IIn Micah 6:8, to do “justly” in Hebrew means the “act of deciding a case” belongs to God. In each case, we must practice kindness and compassion. We must never think that injustice is an option.

Then there’s “mercy.” In Hebrew, "mercy" is chesed, meaning kindness, unfailing love, tenderness, and faithfulness. The word chesed appears 250 times in the Bible, usually referring to God's mercy.

When we are guilty, God extends forgiveness. We deserve punishment, but mercy says no. God expects the same kind of mercy He shows us to be demonstrated toward others.

And the word “humbly” in Hebrew means retired, that is, to withdraw from your own ways of thinking and doing things. So, if you have ever asked the question, “What does God want from me?” It’s simple: remember the threefold requirement.

And always remember, when you are guilty, you will need mercy one day. You will need someone's kindness extended toward you. And "humility" – those who humble themselves will be exalted. So, my sisters in Christ, I encourage you to embrace the threefold requirement of God. These traits please the Lord and will bless your life.

At His Feet

“So she brought an alabaster jar of perfume and stood behind Jesus at his feet, crying. She began to wash his feet with her tears, and she dried them with her hair.”

(Luke7:36-38).

Have you ever felt the urgent need to rush into the throne room, fall at the feet of Jesus, and stay there until life's relentless waves finally subside? I know I have.

While life is good, now and then, it gets what I call real. It becomes unpredictable, challenging, and stormy, with waves crashing from all sides. And sometimes, it seems like those crashing waves will never stop.

But let me say this in my praise voice: "He who made the seas can calm them." The Bible reminds us, "The power of life and death is in the tongue" (Proverbs 18:21). This means that we, as believers, have the power to speak God's word by faith and declare what we need to see, according to His will. So, as you humbly step into that secret place at His feet, speak life, and listen closely as He speaks to your circumstances. His voice is so powerful that even the fiercest

circumstances must bow at His command. I encourage you to find that sacred place, like the woman who wiped Jesus' feet with her hair. Though her spirit was troubled and the public scorned her as a 'sinner,' she knew exactly where to go. She broke the perfume vial, washed His feet with her tears, and dried them with her hair. At that moment, Jesus defended her from her accusers, declaring that her act of love and devotion would be remembered forever (see Matthew 26:13).

So, when life's waves are crashing, and the storms are raging, know there is refuge at His feet, a place always open to you. As you radically worship Him, expect something great to happen. Rise recharged, renewed, satisfied, and transformed—far better than when you first knelt before Him.

Directions 1. Gather all your ingredients.

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

2. Prep the sweet potatoes: Place them in a medium saucepan, cover with water, and cook over medium-high heat until they're tender (about 10 to 15 minutes). Drain and transfer them to a large bowl.

3. Mash the drained sweet potatoes with a fork. Add the eggs and mix until well combined. Then add the sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, and salt, mixing until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch (lightly sprayed, buttered, or oiled) baking dish.
