THINGS YOU DON’T WANT TO FORGET When Praying A memorable prayer experience stirred the inspiration behind this article. A woman fervently devoted to the power of prayer caught my attention as she articulated her belief in specifically covering each of her body’s organs in her prayers. She credited much of her wellbeing to this practice. As she prayed, I found inspiration in her methodical approach, observing as she meticulously named and laid hands on each system within her body.

The Bible underscores the idea that blessings may elude us simply because we haven't sought them through prayer (James 4:2). In my personal experiences, I've come to appreciate the significance of praying with specificity. Therefore, when praying, one of three things you need to cover is: 1). prayer for your health specifically naming each system as follows:

WHO SAID YOU CAN’T BE FASHIONABLE IN CHURCH ATTIRE? In a society deeply enamored with fashion, the concept of stylish attire has evolved beyond traditional boundaries and found its way into every aspect of life, including the church. The ensembles featured in this article are versatile and are “for the most part,” suitable from pulpit to pew. The age-old notion that church attire should be solemn, bland, and unpleasant is gradually fading. However, its crucial to recognize that

church attire is not about being flashy or drawing attention away from God or the spiritual experience.

Instead, it is about finding a balance between respect for the sacred space and personal style.

To anchor myself in this ethos, I turn to Scriptural guidance. I study the cultural backgrounds of Bible verses so that I can get the meaning behind passages like 1 Timothy 2:9, 1 Peter 3:3-4, and Romans 12:1-2.

THE 4 C’S OF CHURCH ATTIRE Drawing inspiration from these verses, I've formulated the four “C’s” of church attire. In this prelaunch issue, we will delve into the first "C" – "Conscious” meaning "being aware, with consideration, that you are present in a sacred space.

The key message is clear – you can look good and

express your individual taste without compromising the essence of reverence.

So, as you embrace your style within the realm of church fashion, remember the importance of being conscious of the holy space.

Have fun and always look your kingdom best.

Poetry for the Soul It’s Got to Happen!

Perhaps it’s been a while, and your faith is wearing out.

You’re trying to make it through despite bouts of doubt.

You’re thinking about all the things God promised you.

Then you realize that some of the biggest things aren’t moving, not one inch… or two.

So, you said, my Lord... how long is this thing lasting?

But God comforts with His Word saying just keep praying and fasting.

And birth the promise, push it out through prayer.

Even on the days, it seems too much to bear.

We should be repeating what God is saying.

And not the negativity that keeps on playing.

We shouldn’t be overtaken by what others think, say, or be moved by the circumstances of our day.

Because God is in control.

He knows the beginning from the end, and the end from the beginning.

He knows in heaven’s Book it’s written, girl, you’re already winning!

The Bible says God’s word can’t return to Him void.

Because if it tried to return, He’d send it back... and say, “I told you what to do now go right back!”

When I received this revelation, I began thanking God, singing, shouting, and praising.

I was winning, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

The revelation “what’s mine is mine” it suddenly clicked.

Then I said, oh, I get it…this thing that God promised, it doesn’t have a choice.

It has to do what God sent it to do, so girl go ahead, and rejoice!

Put on your garments of praise and start singing, shouting, and clapping.

Because God made a promise and you’d better believe, “it’s got to happen!”

Help Lord I want intimacy! (part I)

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16 NKJV).

The Problem

The unspoken reality within our church walls is the metaphorical elephant: the mask many women wear when attending church. It's what I like to refer to as our "church face." This facade is an attempt to appear "alright," as if we harbor no desire for the physical touch of a husband. We do this because we know what people want to see in order to call us holy.

Living a holy life is a conscious choice, and part of that decision, specifically for single women, involves embracing chastity, determining if marriage is God’s will for our individual lives, and then patiently waiting for God's choice for a husband.

However, what does one do in the interim when the longing for intimacy within the context of marriage with a husband/man becomes undeniable?

Yes, I said "man" as in God’s design, man and woman were created to experience the profound joy of sexual pleasure together 12

as husband and wife. One way of looking at the Song of Solomon is recognizing this.

Now let’s delve into Hebrews 4:16.

Traditionally attributed to Paul, the Book of Hebrews was created as a letter for Jewish Christians undergoing persecution for their faith. They faced challenges, were deemed immature, and needed a reiteration of fundamental truths from God's Word.

Notably, the warnings in Hebrews highlight the wavering faith of many Christians, teetering on the edge of abandoning it altogether. The letter emphasizes that Christ understands our weaknesses, having been tested in every way without succumbing to sin (4:16). What adds to the beauty of this passage is the encouragement to approach God "boldly," meaning with confidence. The Greek term for confidence, parresias, carries the connotation of "freedom of speech."

When grappling with the specific issue of sexual desire for a husband, where do you turn for help? Are you able to engage in sincere and transparent communication with God regarding your feelings? Learning to pray with both reverence and openness is a process that may take time for some but proves immensely beneficial in cultivating a lifestyle of abstinence until marriage.

GIRL... FOCUS! “Be strong and courageous and do the work” (1 Chronicles 28:20)

"Girl focus!" became my urgent phrase as the year wrapped up, recognizing that the message I heard in church about “focusing” warranted more of my attention. I’m writing this at the close of the year and like many, I found myself caught up in a whirlwind of activity, tying up loose ends and readdressing goals. I’d reached some but others unattained.

If you can relate, know that you're not alone.

The impact of the message to focus resonated once more when I stumbled upon a computer app featuring an option under "settings" called "focus." This feature was designed to effortlessly minimize distractions with a simple click.

Again, the impact of "focus" reemerged when a text message from a well-known church came with the Scripture in 1 Chronicles 28:20.

The message urged recipients to steer clear of procrastination. In this passage David was close to the end and he said to Solomon, “Be strong and courageous and do the work.”

I had to stop and ask myself if I was focused.

Was I putting in the work? On the other hand, have I allowed "demons of distraction" to deter me? The answer is yes, I've focused and accomplished goals, but also allowed things to hinder me. Because of this, I took a few practical points from my computer's "focus" option. And I'd like to share them with you.

The first option was "Hide badges on the taskbar." So, I clicked on it. The Bible says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you" (Ps. 119:11). But the word "hide" in this Scripture is very different from the contemporary use. It means to "treasure" God's Word. Make His Word your agenda.

When God’s agenda becomes your priority it will help you focus and make it to divine destination.

So girl, if you are going to get this "focus thing" right, then please hold God's Word in the highest regard above all others.

The next step in my journey was discovering the option labeled "Hide flashing on taskbar apps," so I clicked on it. This led me to contemplate how Satan often employs people as "weapons of mass distraction."

When you notice this distraction in action, it's crucial to pinpoint what or who is causing it.

Ask yourself: What is Satan using to divert my attention? Once you identify the source, acknowledge that it cannot be both for and against you simultaneously. Call it what it is.

Then, prayerfully, refocus and dismantle the devil's works.

To help with perseverance through difficult times, consider the following. One of my favorite movie scenes happens in "Akeelah and the Bee." In this film the young girl Akeelah is training for a national spelling bee. One day while in training, her coach asked her to jump rope while spelling a difficult word. Meanwhile, he consistently bangs on a metal flowerpot.

Akeelah said, please stop because you are distracting me!

His response, I'm training you to spell even with distractions, so keep spelling.

Sometimes God allows things to "bang" in our lives. The noise is irritating, the people on an assignment from hell are frustrating, but I encourage you to keep on "spelling" because God is training you to focus when all hell breaks loose.

The final command I selected on my computer was "Do Not Disturb." Similar to Nehemiah, who invoked this same principle while reconstructing the walls of Jerusalem, there are occasions when you must activate this switch. Despite persistent efforts from adversaries attempting to impede his advancement, Nehemiah resolutely declared,

"I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down" (Neh. 6:3). In essence, the message is clear: Don’t even think about trying to distract or stop me!

In 1 Chronicles 28:20, David imparts wisdom to Solomon, as he clearly says, “put in the work.” The path to maintaining focus demands effort and dedication. It’s just not going to happen without the two. Many of you are at the end of something and close to a new day!

You need to know that it's Satan's job to keep using weapons of mass distraction. He's on his post.

But we get the last laugh, as we are covered by the biblical warranty of "more than conquerors"(see Romans 8:37). In Greek, "conquerors" means beyond or completely and overwhelmingly victorious. Yes girl, you are overwhelmingly victorious.

If distractions have steered you off course, I urge you to realign and get back on track.

Resist allowing Satan to overwhelm you with distractions, discourage you with demons, or confuse you with dilemmas. Empower yourself by speaking impactful decrees over your life.

In the midst of a bustling week at the hospital where I served as a registered nurse, little did I anticipate a "divine intervention" and a significant lesson about how I’ve underestimated the ways God delivers His children.

The scene unfolded in the hospital where patient call bells incessantly echoed, and urgency permeated the air as nurses swiftly attended to the critical needs of emergent cases, often sacrificing meals and breaks.

Within this tumultuous setting, an unexpected challenge arose in the form of a fellow nurse we'll call Linda.

Constantly finding fault in my practice, Linda's complaints to our manager brought Linda solace although it was

actually disregarded as the manager, John, didn't see a reason to fire me. In time, John embraced a new position elsewhere. With the arrival of Brittney as the new manager, Linda perceived an opportunity to transfer the burden of her grievances by handing off the metaphorical ball, hoping for a successful touchdown.

Devastated by the news of impending allegations and a meeting with the new manager, I turned to God in prayer for solace and defense. After walking into Brittney's office on that critical day, I unexpectedly found a newfound boldness. Brittney objectively but calmly stated the allegations and then asked me to respond. I proclaimed, "God is my defender. He will fight for me."

Immediately, I thought, did I say that?

But I remained quiet and resolute.

“Life's path mirrors a game, where victories and losses play out. In each instance, God can disrupt challenges, ushering in your victory.”

KINGDOM WOMAN

To my surprise, Brittney responded with conviction, "God sent me here to save your position. I prayed and asked the Lord to show me the truth, and I am dismissing the allegations." Immediately, praise broke out in her office! An unexpected bond formed as we cried, prayed, and spoke in our heavenly language.

The beauty of this story lies in the unexpected. Brittney is Caucasian, while I am African American. I’d never seen God use someone outside of my culture to help me this way. This "divine intervention" not only saved my job but also unveiled a profound truth — divine rescues often manifest in unexpected forms. My newfound belief echoes, "My Savior intercepted the ball and scored a touchdown!"

God's love transcends our expectations, and divine interventions are real. May this narrative serve as inspiration, a testament to the reality of divine interceptions and the assurance that "no weapon formed against you will prosper" (Is. 54:17).
