Render above is from the south east side of the podium. The bench as shown in the foreground has dual facing seats - so the residents can choose to sit either overlooking the sea views, or the landscape design at the opposite face.

Tree groves are also located at the podium and creates an attractive place for the residents to relax under the shade.

These tree groves also plays an important role at groundfloor landscape. Along with mass planting - these depletes the rough character produced by the pavement.

At the foreground - it shows the route towards the parking from the basement. This is framed with trees + planting which softens the high walls along it.

The landscape design at ground floor also provides great views for the residents at their apartments.

The plan above is the landscape layout at podium level. The design comprises of leisure activity areas for the residents - such as play area, which is divided into different age groups from the west, adult and kiddie pool at the center, multi-function lawn & outdoor exercise area from the east, play court and running track which is located at the north east of the plot.

Several seating areas under tree groves are also designed - primarily adjacent the facade, where the pedestrian spine is located.

Linear pavement are designed - sitewide.

This binds all the spaces by means of having one constant character at the whole plot.

The adult pool is the main design feature at the podium. With its long length, the residents can enjoy lap swimming.

Render above shows kiddie pool adjacent the main swimming pool.

The concept is to have surface that resembles ‘beach sand’ - which is integrated in the pool itself.

Lush tropical vegetation frames the kiddie pool and the adult pool.

Row of palms are placed at the adult pool deck - which gives enough canopy for the pool loungers.

Pedestrian central spine - adjacent facade mostly has group of tree planters with seating edge.

This can be seen from the render above which is a viewpoint from the east nearby the multi-function lawn and outdoor gym.

These spaces - along with softscape, defines the character of the pedestrian routing.

This concept design’s objective primarily is the combination of efficient circulation + creating momentous sculptural piece - which acts as a placemaking element for the pavilion guests.

The array of poles uplifts the form of the facade skin by complimenting it - and by having the same material as facade’s - it creates one distinct character for both the landscape and architectural design

The sculptural element is sitting on a mounded surface - and timber seating edge is placed around it.

Ample space for pedestrian circulation are provided at the sides which gives convenient accessibility for the pavilion users.

Instant identification of the operational pavilion - as viewing it from the concourse is taken into consideration as well, not hindering the signage placed by the facade.

The landscape design consists of dining plaza at the west, central lobby and entertainment plaza at the east.

For that reason - we established a design which will meet these requirements.

The design went into different design iteration in order to meet client’s design requirement - one of which is to have ‘seasonal’ design, wherein during summer - cars are allowed to go through in the route provided at the middle, and in the winter, no vehicles are allowed and the whole plot will be more pedestrian orientated.

By integrating the ‘shared space’ design principle, we are able to design for the pedestrian - but still meeting the vehicular accessibility requirements, most importantly, the safetiness of pedestrian users.

This render is at the west from the dining plaza.

This shows how the softscape modules, with tree and planting - defines the edge for the vehicular routing - with the addition of low relief curbs.

It demonstrates the design which is focused primarily to pedestrian and not with vehicular corridor.

With these traffic calming measures + more safety precautions such as speed limit; vehicular users are more aware when passing through the corridor.

This approach benefits the people especially during winter where there would not be any vehicular access in the plot.

Render above shows the general paving pattern. Combination of grey and white pre-cast pavers - randomly breaking creates an interesting touch from the minimalistic landscape design approach.

These is achieved using Rhino software, with the help from Grasshopper to create the randomness.

The cube tower at the right is one of the feature placemaking element in the plot.

In addition to that - the render at the upper right shows the placemaking element at the east, and at the bottom right shows the hanging element at the west - from the dining plaza end. These amplifies the branding of the corridor.

These placemaking elements are designed by the signage consultant.

This render shows the bird’s eye view overlooking the piazza.

The feature sculptural element in the middle acts as a placemaking element.

The stacked cube design from the sculptural element ties with the building’s character around it.

This perspective is developed with the combination of SketchUp for modelling and Lumion for rendering.

This view shows the piazza at night.

The central plaza as shown here is with the fountains which are illuminated with colorful uplights.

The renders as shown in this spread is the bridge skin.

The intent is to have glue laminated timber which resembles ‘basket weave’ The pattern is achieved using Rhino + Grasshopper, as shown in the algorithm script below.

At the foreground is the bridge, where the skin design is cladded on the side of both bridge faces.

This viewpoint from the bridge leads to the piazza at the farthest end from this scene.

The render on the right shows one of the seating hubs in the plot.

These are shaded with wavy canopies that has ‘waffle’ patterning, This is achieved using Rhino + Grasshopper, as shown in the model and algorithm above.

The shape and form of the canopy differs with the planar curve shape to be selected, making every module of the structure different to another.

The sketch above shows the main option for the landscape layout at amenity level.

The design has playground and multi-function lawn at the west, and kid’s + adult’s pool at the east.

The design objective is to provide recreation areas for the residents - and maximizing view opportunities to boulevard at the north and harbour at the south.

These are shaded with arbor + climbing plants.

Each module is accompanied with bird bath alternately placed.

At the background we could glimpse the play ground which has feature acrylic shade structure over.

The layout on the right is the blow up of the swimming pool located at the southern area of the plot.

The pool can be accessed by ramps provided at both side entries of the tower + the bridge located at the west.

Canopy structure will be placed over the pool - primarily to provide shade for the pathway around. This will also cast shading for the pool loungers during noon and afternoon.
