OUR STORY
In 1977, David King and his mother, Gwen, began handcrafting furniture from their family home in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Demand quickly grew as David, in partnership with expert craftspeople, began to push the boundaries of what furniture could achieve.
A family owned and operated business built from the ground up, we pride ourselves on design, innovation and comfort. We make the complex simple to inspire a more conscious, sustainable way of living.
From humble beginnings to a heritage global brand and an Australian household name – our story was built on a desire to do things differently. And that’s what our people do every day.
From the beginning, we didn’t follow the traditional ways of making furniture. We did things our way, which was different.

First showroom and factory opens in Sydney, Australia.
Steel frame and patented Postureflex® Seating System introduced.
Flagship showroom opens in Annandale, Sydney.
Delta Sofa released.
Jasper Sofa released. Purpose-built manufacturing facility opens in Shanghai, China.
Delta Sofa appears on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
King Furniture is rebranded to King Living. Global expansion begins with showrooms opening in Auckland and Singapore.
First Outdoor Collection released. Two showrooms open in Malaysia.
First North American showroom opens in Vancouver, Canada.
Thailand factory opens. First United Kingdom showroom opens in London.
Jasper Sofa’s 20th Anniversary.

King Living launches in Orange County, USA and opens a new showroom in Calgary, Canada.
New showrooms open in Toronto and Portland, and the largest yet in Balgowlah on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
King FreeForm, a collection of compressed foam sofas, launches.
Delta 5 Sofa released.
Montreal Showroom open.
OUR COLLECTION
Beginning with sofas, our collection has expanded to include living, dining, outdoor, bedroom and home office ranges, as well as rugs and lighting.
It’s a testament to the blend of aesthetics and functionality of our designs that the range has continually expanded into new categories.
