When I visited my significant other’s family in Japan, it immediately brought me back to when I played the course nearly 8 years ago. I was incredibly moved and had a unique feeling that this this is where I belonged because our missions and core values surrounding humanity are aligned.

As the Assistant General Manager at The Riviera Country Club, my goal would be to inspire staff daily to make as many things happen for as many patrons as possible. Stanford University Golf Course, designed by George Thomas and William Bell (LACC, Torrey Pines, Belair CC) in 1930, is one of the most unique clubs in the country. Not only does the course serve all alumni, faculty, students, and a membership of 450, but the Arrillaga Learning Center also serves the general public. The Golf Course is open 365 days a years and facilitates 50,000+ rounds a year.

My job description currently encompasses the following duties:

• Overseeing day-to-day Golf Course operations and Learning Center operations

• Management of 80+ employees

• Oversight of $8M operations budget

• Co-management of a $2M third party F&B opreation

• Responsible for all golf department staff scheduling

• Direct retail for two locations

• Attend all board, committee and section meetings

• Finalize all course contractual agreements for corporate groups, food and beverage purveyor, and leased equipment

• Club representative for all NCGA, NCPGA, AJGA, USGA, and all NCAA major events

• Host of 2022 & 2024 NCAA PAC 12 Regionals

• Host of 2023 PAC12 Championships

SOMERSET HILLS COUNTRY CLUB

Somerset Hills Country Club is a private member-owned club located approximately 45 minutes West of New York City. The club was founded in 1899 and designed by AW Tillinghast in 1918. The most notable aspect of the course is that it has never been altered with the exception of 1 hole. AW Tillinghast is best know for his Major Championship Venues, Winged Foot and Baltusrol.

The club has just over 300 members and boasts active Men’s, Women’s, and Junior Golf programming. There are several longstanding tournaments that continue to this day. The club is recognized by Golf Digest as top 3 in the state next to Pine Valley and Baltusrol.

My job description currently encompasses the following duties

• Overseeing day-to-day course operations

• Scheduling all department staff

• Teaching 200+ hours of private instruction

• Assisting in purchasing and reporting of $500,000 gross retail inventory

• Captaining all major club tournaments

• Publishing weekly Men’s and Women’s Program newsletters

• Mentoring 7 Class A Professionals and 3 PGA/PGM Interns

• Playing with members regularly

HOLE-IN-THE-WALL GOLF CLUB

The club has just over 300 members and boasts active Men’s, Women’s, and Couples Golf programming. Approximately 20,000 rounds are played annually with a majority being played between January and April.

• Facilitating weekly toss-up game

• Private and group instruction

• Managing full retail inventory, ordering, and design

• Starting and Rangering all daily play

REDSTICK GOLF CLUB

VERO BEACH, FLORIDA

RedStick Golf Club is an Invitation-only Golf Club. Designed by Reece Jones in 2000, the club consists of approximately 275 members. With golf serving as the only amenity, the sole focus of the club is providing it’s members and guests with a one of a kind experience. The course is walking only and shares a caddie program with Augusta National Golf Club.

RedStick was originally created as an all-mens club and in order to be granted membership the applicant could not claim as their home club. Through the years the club has evolved and now allows all members and guests regardless of gender but still requires prospects to consider it a secondary club.

My job duties consisted of the following responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day golf-shop operations

• Conducting all weekly toss-up events

• Coordinating the United States Senior Golf Association event in Vero Beach

• Having complete autonomy of golf shop inventory procedures and protocals

• Playing golf with members multiple times on a weekly basis

• Establishing all major golf shop policies and procedures

SAND VALLEY RESORT

Nekoosa, Wisconsin

Following the success of Bandon Dunes the Keiser family sought to create another Dream Golf Experience modeled after the heathlands of Scotland with the designs of Sand Valley, Mammoth Dunes and The Sandbox courses.

Sand Valley is concurrently developing two new additional courses, one to be private and the other resort. Visitors from all over the globe visit annually and this success has lead to the resort winning accolade after accolade including “Best New Course” in 2017 and 2018 and Golf Digest’s Top Five Best Golfing Destinations 2020.

At Sand Valley I contributed to the the following areas of the operation

• Check-in and arrival of 55,000+ rounds of golf annually

• Standardizing all golf shop procedures and protocals

• Working closely with accounting department ensuring accurate billing of all founders and guests

• Presentation and flow of $2.4+ million of gross retail sales annually

• Scheduling golf shop staff of 20+ employes while adhering to $250,000 department budget

• Conducting weekly interdepartmental meetings and chairing the safety committee

• Mentoring and managing 16 PGA/PGM interns

GLEN VIEW CLUB

Established in 1899, William Flynn is primarily credited with the course design. Flynn, best know for his creation of Shinnecock Hills, restored the original Herbert Tweedie layout in 1915.

The club boasts rich historical significance in Golf’s history. In addition to hosting the 1902 United States Amateur and 1904 United States Open, the club was home to two hall-of-fame golf members, Chick Evans and Jock Hutchinson. Evans was a multiple amateur champion and member of the club. Hutchinson, a multiple Major Champion, was one of the club’s early Head Golf Professionals. Multiple U.S. Presidents have called the Glen View Club home throughout the years.

During my tenure at Glen View I oversaw the following

• Co-managing a caddie program of 170+ caddies

• Implementing all Player Services procedures

• Promoting a vibrant Junior Golf Program and Chairing the North Shore Junior League

• Conducting multiple weekly Men’s and Women’s tee games

• Overseeing weekly Men’s Dunhill league of 128+ participants

• Competing in several PGA sanctioned event

PUNTA ESPADA GOLF CLUB

CAP CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Designed in 2006 by Jack Nicklaus, Punta Espada Golf Club played host to the Champions Tour’s Cap Cana Championship from 20082010. Punta Espada is a Semi-Private Golf Club with 8 of its holes lining the Caribbean Ocean. There are 100 members from around the globe that call this place their Winter home. In order to attain membership individuals must own property within the Cap Cana city limits.

My main responsibilites as the Head Golf Professional consisted of the below items

• Facilitating all member activites

• Serving as the club’s American ambassodor to International prospects

• Creating a full golf calendar for members and guests consisting of 30+ seasonal events

• Acting as the sole teaching professional for all lesson inquiries

• Training a caddie staff of 30+ locals and implementing FirstWorld procedures into the clubs service protocals

WESTMOOR COUNTRY CLUB

BROOKFIELD, WISCONSIN

Westmoor Country Country Club is a private member-owned club with approximately 550 total memberships. The club facilitates 20,000+ rounds each season and has hosted several Wisconsin State Open Championships. British Open Champion Andy North and Steve Stricker are some of the notable names to win the event at Westmoor Country Club.

Westmoor allowed me to grow in the following areas

• 400+ hours of private 1-on-1 instruction

• Growing the club’s junior golf program from 70 to 175+ students

• Volunteering for multiple Major Championships hosted in the state of Wisconsin

• Starting, rangering, and managing daily play

• Merchandising a golf shop that has been elected as Private Merchandiser of the Year twice over the past 7 seasons.

• Being named the 2016 Wisconsin PGA Assistant Professional of the Year

• Earning multiple nominations for the Wisconsin PGA Junior Development award.

BLUE LAKES COUNTRY CLUB

• Conducting all Mens and Womens Golf programming

• Overseeing locker-room facilities, assignments, and shoe cleaning services

• Heading and designing Golf Cart Fleet Management program for 60+ facility owned golf carts
