The Kimmel Center’s 2017/18 Arts Education Programs Last season, the Kimmel Center directly impacted 10,669 students through 32,235 learning hours during 323 classes and education events. In addition, children experienced the Kimmel Center through free community programs, family programming, fairs & festivals, rentals for student performances, and partner activities. Our unique programs are offered throughout the year for children of all ages, and most are FREE!
Recent research shows the value of arts experiences in child development. The arts help develop skills that lead to success in school and life, including: ■ self-control ■ good decision-making ■ confidence ■ empathy ShowStoppers
For Educators
The Kimmel Center is proud to celebrate the region’s most inspiring teachers! We offer free tickets to teachers, librarians, and counselors from the Philadelphia School District who go above and beyond the call of duty. For information on the nomination process, visit kimmelcenter.org/teachers. Also, all teachers receive discounts on tickets to select performances of up to 35%. Teachers can receive discount ticket information by calling our Group Sales office at 215-790-5883.

Student Matinees
Student Matinees Grades K–12
All-City Jazz Festival Grades 5–12 ■ April 18, 2018
Experience free and low-cost live performances with artist Q&A sessions. Advance curriculum materials provided. Matinees include PHILADANCO, Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, and performances by local and national artists. Check out our website for dates and to reserve tickets!
In partnership with The Philly POPS and the School District of Philadelphia, the festival presents a full-day of student performances and master classes. The day culminates in a performance by the All-City Jazz Orchestra.
Jazz Standards Grades 4–8 In this unique in-school residency, students learn “What is Jazz” through music, dance, and academic lessons. The residency is enriched by attending and participating in performances on the Kimmel Center campus.
Bop and Swing Grades Pre-K–K Preschoolers learn about jazz in creative ways, while reinforcing skills learned in the classroom. This in-school residency teaches students through in-person visits and distance learning. Music, dance, and an ageappropriate amount of historical context makes this fun and engaging hands-on instruction.

Creative Music Program for Jazz Grades 5–12
A fast-paced after-school program maximizes skills in theater, voice, and dance while preparing for Showcase performances held in December and May on the Kimmel Center Campus.
A school-year long program exposes talented teens with a serious interest in music to teaching artists, master classes, and a wellrounded jazz education. Students get the chance to perform at the Kimmel Center and in the community.

Presented in partnership with Recording Academy®, Philadelphia Chapter, this seminar series engages professionally-oriented students and graduates pursuing a career in the music business with artists and professional experts covering topics from industry basics to contracts, intellectual property, and more!

Temple University Early Childhood Program Ages 0–4 Temple University Music Preparatory Division and the Kimmel Center partner to provide the Early Childhood Music Foundations Program. Classes held in the Merck Education Center on Mondays encourage the development of musical awareness and help parents foster natural musical abilities in their children.

ShowStoppers Musical Theater Summer Camp Grades 7–12 A two-week, fast-paced camp perfect for teens who want to maximize their skills in theater, voice, and dance. Make friends, gain confidence, and learn skills as you work together with musical theater professionals who prepare you for a culminating performance on the Perelman Theater stage!
Broadway Dreams All Ages! Dreamers of all ages enjoy a unique, weeklong summer intensive led by Broadway professionals. Students receive instruction in all disciplines of musical theater, acting, voice, and dance in an exciting and collaborative learning environment. The camp culminates with a performance in the Perelman Theater!
Kimmel Center Jazz Camp of Philadelphia Ages 13–20 This two-week Jazz intensive is the place for instrumentalists and vocalists to explore jazz technique, repertoire, and performance, while interacting with Master level artists. Our robust curriculum provides teens with instruction in musicianship, ensemble interaction, and the creative process. The camp culminates in a showcase performance at the Kimmel Center.
