Focusing on our Core Competencies, the CORONA Chamber continues to seek ways to improve. Recently the CORONA Chamber engaged Loyalty Zone, a third-party company, that contacted randomly selected member firms to connect. Their intention was to find out what the CORONA Chamber is doing right, what expectations have not been met, and how the CORONA Chamber can position itself for the future. Realizing that the largest interruption of business happened two years ago through COVID, and today, the business community is still experiencing repercussions of a weakened workforce. Businesses are now offering additional compensation (as rising costs of gas and general goods are increasing rapidly). I am hearing from many businesses that there seems to be a standoff from individual workers to perform their duties. Internationally, we hear of workforce stoppage and a “NEW resignation” movement, where employees are demanding to work remotely, for less hours a day, and limited days per week.

Entrepreneurship is difficult, yet very rewarding, and with time, we can navigate towards success. I strongly believe in rewarding individuals who rise to the occasion. We have seen numerous ‘local heroes’

from healthcare workers to truck drivers and beyond, come to the aid of our community. Often it is the Firefighters and Police Officers who receive that recognition, yet they, too, acknowledge and welcome these newfound heroes! During the pandemic, multiple businesses reinvented themselves, and continue to do so daily. That is the spirit of the entrepreneur. We are fortunate to have numerous innovative-forward thinking entrepreneurs who seek to improve and expand their operations.

Elsewhere in this publication you will see where Chad Miller was honored by CAL Chamber as the Small Business Advocate of the Year. He will be honored locally at the Economic Summit on July

15. He, along with other business leaders, have set the tone for involvement! Other good news: aFe (Advanced Flow Engineering) has purchased a large 130,000 sq ft building, which doubles their size and will bring an additional 200 new jobs.

Local healthcare workers from Vista Medical, though trained for the impossible, were acknowledged by the CORONA Chamber for their prompt attention to saving a life. Lonnie Scott, the owner of Bobcat Properties and Farms, shared that his wife, Mary, was not feeling well. Rather than driving to OC for an appointment, the Scotts chose to visit Vista Medical. While in the waiting room, Mary collapsed and stopped breathing. The quick response of all team associates, from the front desk to doctors on staff, saved Mary’s life. Dr. Carrington and others at Vista Medical truly exemplify what being ‘on the front line’ means.

Our annual Sacramento Capitol Summit was a huge success. We have outlined our resolutions and findings from our trip. We invite you to join us this September 17 – 21 for our annual “Washington DC Fly In”. Our Capitol visits and meetings at the US Chamber will begin early on September 19. For more information please visit: bit.ly/CoronaDC2022.

We look forward to serving your business needs, while assisting in

“Creating Jobs and Building A Stronger Community”.
