Corona Innovation Center BREAKS GROUND

T

he ground-breaking ceremony for the Corona Innovation Center on Friday, November 30, 2018 marked a major milestone for Corona’s regional economic development impact, as well as local and regional job creation.

The Corona Innovation Center will focus on growing the local economy in collaboration with local and regional businesses, colleges and universities. This project will create an environment that will foster collaborative

evelopment is the backbone for a thriving community, and we are excited to share some good news of attractions “Coming Soon!” The Corona Chamber continually works to promote Corona as a great place to open a business. The City of Corona parallels our efforts and often does the ‘heavy

thinking and joint projects geared toward common economic goals and technology drivers. The Center will also work in conjunction with the Corona-Norco Unified School District to strengthen its STEM programs and ensure future generations are developing the necessary skill sets to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world. The center would bring multiple public and private partnerships together, including the City of Corona, TriTech Small Business Development Center, Corona-Norco Unified School District, Norco College, Riverside Community College District Office of Economic Development, and Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division, to name a few. s part of the CORONA 2020 program (a Public Private Partnership) the CORONA Chamber realizes the importance of expanding the knowledge of Economic Development to the masses. Therefore, the CORONA Chamber will be providing the NEW ECONOMY seminar on Friday, January 11, 2019. Presented by Mo Collins, a New Economy specialist with more than 20 years of academic, non-profit and entrepreneurial experience, this ½ day seminar will be informative, engaging and innovative. Collins speaks throughout the United States and Canada. This New Economy seminar will provide a foundational look at economic development in the 21st century. Topics will include: 1) global economic trends and the profound impact these changes

are having upon our local communities; 2) emerging best practices in entrepreneurship, innovation and workforce; and 3) strategies to build healthy 21st century communities. Collins will share on economic development, technology transfer and commercialization, entrepreneurs and technology, the innovation economy and small business. 5th Annual Chili CookOff & Craft Brew Festival February 23 C ircle City Rotary supports many nonprofit organizations throughout the year. Proceeds from the 2019 Fire & Ice Chili Cook-Off & Craft Beer Festival, scheduled for Saturday, February 23, will enable Circle City Rotary to continue its financial support to those less fortunate. 100% of the net proceeds from this event will be used directly to fund benevolent service projects right here in our own backyard as well as in other countries, where the need is greatest and we make a difference in people’s quality of life.

Over 25 Chili Cook-Off contestants in two categories will be competing for prizes. There will be beer tasting from approximately 20 craft breweries, as well as other food available and alternative beverages for purchase. A live band will keep the energy high, and all attendees can take part by voting for their favorite chili chefs with the People’s Choice award category!
