MY PROFILE

I am a graphic designer and enjoy the opportunity of being involved in a project from development of a creative concept all the way through to a final polished product. I have been in the field for over 10 years and am loving every minute of it. I am an entrepreneur, designer and overall thinker who pays attention to the details.

I completed an Electronic Publishing Course in 2003 at the ground breaking Hirt & Carter Training Centre in Cape Town. I have gained my experience working for companies involved in print design as well as signage. I also found an opportunity to gain experience working in the United Kingdom.

In 2009 I helped with the founding of Paws & Claws (Pty) Ltd, which was the first and still is the only domestic pet insurance product available in Namibia, which is now underwritten by Alexander Forbes Financial Services Namibia (Pty) Ltd. I started freelancing in 2013 and owned a small, yet successful business, offering my professional graphic design services to smaller entities both nationally and internationally. As well as having worked on a part-time and consultant basis for privately owned companies, I am also proud to have been of service to the FNB Group Namibia’s Marketing Department. I provided them with layout and design for smaller events as well as for their weekly inhouse newsletter, this has been a great accomplishment for me.

Additionally, I have also gained experience volunteering for a privately managed S.P.C.A., based in Swakopmund, Namibia.

During my time there I was the Vice-Chairman and oversaw the HR functions, payroll, membership renewals and fundraising events.

6. SPCA Fundraiser Client: Paws & Claws (Pty) Ltd As October is internationally known as Adopt-A-Pet month, I came up with the idea to host a fundraiser specifically with the aim to generate money for the Namibian SPCA’s for the holiday season. As so many of us go on holiday and often rely on pet-sitters, family and friends to look after our furry friends we hope that they stay safe but unfortunately often the pets go missing due to being afraid of the fireworks or thunder, or otherwise gates being left open. Together with Windgat T-shirts and CyberAds I was able to raise N$ 10 740.20 for the SPCA’s, it might not seem like a lot of money but it was split up according to how many people within that SPCA’s region bought t-shirts.

To advertise I used Facebook as my main platform, as well as email marketing through CyberAds. Throughout the final stages I compiled a series of updates for our Facebook page PawsAndClawsNamibia to show progress reports, collection points as well as having designed a series to show what was provided for each SPCA as per their own request on items they needed. In each packet I placed a Thank You card which had the SPCA’s of Namibia contact details on as well as the companies’ logos that helped with the fundraiser.

Adverts designed for email advertising and a Facebook cover photo used for the Paws & Claws Facebook page for the duration of the fundraiser until orders closed.

Order form and two t-shirt designs to be chosen from as well as preferred colour.

Status updates used for Facebook and the Thank You cards that were placed inside each t-shirt’s package.

7. Competition Client: Global Progressive Synergy CC During my part-time employment at Global Progressive Synergy, I was responsible for hosting a competition on idiomatic phrases. The company is a professional services company that specialises in training management, executive coaching, marketing and PR services. In keeping with the theme of learning I was responsible for designing all material to be distributed to the data base using emails as well as researching for idioms to use for the competition for the online questionnaire which was hosted using Survey Monkey and organising the handover of the prizes to the winners at a small prize giving event held at the training centre in Walvis Bay. Adverts were also placed in local newspapers as well as a press release was published.
