Crafting the Cold: The Materials Matter
Every type of insulated holder owes its cooling magic to the materials from which it's made.
Neoprene
You've probably heard of neoprene in the context of wetsuits. This synthetic rubber insulates by trapping body heat in wetsuits and, in the case of beer coolers, by slowing down the heat transfer from the warm outside air to your cold beer.
Foam
Often made from polyurethane, foam coolers rely on the foam's millions of tiny air pockets. These pockets limit heat transfer, helping to keep your beer at the perfect temperature for longer.
Stainless Steel
The star of the show here is the vacuum between the double walls of stainless steel. This vacuum significantly slows down heat transfer, keeping your drink cold for hours. Stainless steel is also resistant to rust and easy to clean, adding durability and convenience to its list of advantages.
