LAURA LEVY

BRIDGING COMMUNITIES:

LAURA LEVY’S PATH FROM CORPORATE REAL ESTATE TO CU ATHLETICS

Laura Levy, a REALTOR® at Coldwell Banker Realty, originates from the picturesque coastal town of Mendocino in Northern California, nestled amidst wine country. Laura grew up in the industry where her mother was a top agent who specialized in ocean-front and ocean-view homes. Laura’s academic journey led her to San Diego for college, and later, she ventured to the Bay Area, where she found her love for the real estate industry working for a prestigious luxury real estate firm. In the early 90s, in the pre-internet era, she immersed herself in various pivotal roles within the company. Laura underwent a transformative learning experience, honing her expertise in creative marketing strategies crucial for drawing international buyers to luxury properties.

During those years, her introduction to innovative marketing strategies was rewarding. Yet, amidst the hustle of city life, Laura yearned for the tranquility of rural surroundings. One day in a library, fate intervened: a University of Colorado course catalog sat by itself on a table, its cover adorned with a breathtaking overlook of Boulder from Highway 36.

“From the instant I glimpsed that photograph,” Laura recounts, “I was spellbound by the scene and forever captivated by Boulder’s natural beauty.”

Shortly after that, Laura visited Boulder. She explored the region over Memorial Day weekend and was impressed by Boulder’s vibrant atmosphere. “The city was alive with events like the farmer’s market, the

Boulder Creek Festival, and the Bolder Boulder race. The entrepreneurial spirit and beautiful environment left a lasting impression on me. Boulder immediately felt like home. Over the 4th of July holiday in 2024, I celebrated my 30th year in Boulder!”

When Laura first arrived in Boulder in 1994, she worked with a top agent team in a supportive role, primarily handling marketing and transaction tasks. The team focused on condominium sales and working with CU families as clients. Laura also took on project management duties and helped to build a specialization in marketing subdivisions for builders. Her diverse experience gave her a unique perspective on real estate, blending sophisticated corporate branding and marketing continuity with the professional standards of working with Wall Street investors and larger budgets.

In 2010, Laura was working on the builder side of real estate, but the recession hit hard, especially in Colorado’s multi-family sector, leading to significant client losses and professional exhaustion. Laura states, “I needed a break and decided to start a small consulting business focusing on marketing, PR, and social media. Additionally, my mother was fighting cancer and I needed to focus my energy more on my family while taking a breather from the sales side of real estate. Coldwell Banker hired me as a consultant for my marketing expertise in establishing their initial social media channels, marking the beginning of my relationship with the company.”

In 2013, the Colorado floods wrought havoc upon her beloved Lyons community, leaving homes and infrastructure in ruins. Laura’s adept project management and community mobilization efforts caught the attention of Larimer County, propelling her into the temporary role of a recovery manager. She was recognized with a Governor’s Service Award by the State of Colorado for her efforts. This transformative experience of working on the flood recovery strengthened her ties within her local community and reignited her passion for local real estate upon reentering the industry. She became an independent agent with Coldwell Banker’s Boulder office where her clients recognized her unique marketing and negotiation abilities, making her quickly become one of the top agents in the area and for Coldwell Banker in Colorado. In 2019, she hired an administrative support team and opened an office on Main Street in downtown Lyons with a unique

Laura's retail store "Solace" on Main Street in Downtown Lyons

design that features a small tourist shop to help promote Lyons.

Although Laura had a thriving real estate career, Larimer County reached out to her once again in 2020 to ask for her assistance with pandemic recovery efforts. They recognized her ability to bring people together and find solutions. Laura worked on a full-time contract with the county for 10 months while navigating the challenges of working in real estate during those early days of the pandemic. She is thankful for her support team who allowed her the capacity to manage both roles simultaneously.

Additionally, in 2021, she opened another retail store in Lyons called Solace on the heels of the pandemic.

“The space next to our Lyons office was empty and a bit blighted, so I decided to put an uplifting retail store in that space to help contribute to the revitalization of our struggling, post-pandemic downtown. Solace is a home store that focuses on pampering

work capacity, but I could not have jumped in with both feet without a truly great support team. My team is family.”

Laura’s favorite thing in life is connecting people and building community. Seeing the power and spirit of what happens when people decide to come together inspires her. Her involvement with the University of Colorado (CU) reflects this passion. As a long-time “passive’ supporter of CU Athletics, she became particularly enthusiastic when Deion Sanders was hired. She says, “I’ve always been a fan of CU athletics, and I believe it’s a fantastic university. When Deion Sanders was selected as our football coach in 2022, I was excited. Coming from the Bay Area, where I followed Deion’s career as a 49ers fan, I told my husband, ‘This is a big deal for Boulder. It’s going to make a huge impact and I want to be involved.’” Her excitement grew further when her son was accepted to CU just a month later, prompting her to deepen her involvement with the university.

Laura increased her engagement by becoming a multi-sport season ticket holder and a more prominent donor. She also entered a multi-year sponsorship agreement with CU Athletics. In her attempts to support CU on every level and be part of the greater CU family, she has built personal relationships with the administration, coaches, and athletes and participates in numerous university organizations to support athletics and academics. She even expanded her tourist shop in the Lyons office to include designer Buffaloes apparel.

Laura has formed a unique friendship with Peggy Coppom, a 99-year-old CU super fan, and is celebrating her in her marketing videos. Laura says, “I try to do what I can to help support the school. Marketing should not just be about advertising; it should inspire or bring people together. During a big recruiting weekend, I encouraged The Sink to name a burger after a 5-star recruit and then asked the Boulder Theatre to post a message on their marquis to the same recruit. A group of us welcomed the recruit and his family with banners at the Champion Center. Involving businesses and the community in grassroots recruiting was

a lot of fun and I think it helped. Whether it’s through events, as a supportive business owner, or recovery efforts, seeing people come together in an inspiring way is what fuels me.”

When Laura isn’t working or devoting her time to CU or the Lyons community, she and her husband, Bill, son Wyatt and dog “Whiskey,” are enjoying life in Colorado. “Living next to 800,000 acres of National Forest, we don’t need to go far. We have a surf boat we love going to the lake, particularly because my son loves surfing. I enjoy anything water-related”, states Laura. Beyond that, it’s all about enjoying the Boulder area. Wyatt is in a CU fraternity and is an avid golfer, while Bill is passionate about skiing and mountain biking.

Laura has formed deep REALTOR® friendships over the past 30 years. She says, “Watching their success and

businesses grow has been inspiring, and we often cross paths. While clients come and go, the relationships with my REALTOR® colleagues are enduring. Treating each other well is crucial because we encounter each other repeatedly. And as friends, we support each other because there is no one else who quite understands the unique dynamics of this crazy and rewarding industry”

In closing, Laura says, “I hope readers of this publication know how much I appreciate my fellow REALTORS®. Our work and dedication are often underappreciated, but that work is so gratifying when done for the right reasons—to serve the dreams of our clients.”

PERSEVERANCE & PERSISTENCE PAY OFF FOR

CHARLENE ROSENBLATT

“There is always a win-win. You just have to find it,” says REALTOR® Charlene Rosenblatt with Rosenblatt Residential with Coldwell Banker Realty. “It’s all about helping to find the right solution for everyone,” she adds.

Confidently approaching clients and helping them make decisions is what Charlene does best. She also doesn’t get distracted moving deals to the closing table. “Some people become swayed by pretty objects, but you have to be the realist,” she points out.

A natural problem solver, Charlene tackles challenges with grit and grace. Her only regret with real estate? “I wish I would have started earlier,” she candidly comments. Her solid work ethic, which is evident in her career, can be traced to her childhood days growing up on a farm in Nebraska.

MIDWESTERN ROOTS

Growing up in Nebraska, Charlene got up at 6:00 a.m. each day, fed the cattle, and did her farm chores diligently. During the brutal temperatures in the winter months, she would make the quarter-mile hike to make sure the

ice was broken off the water so the cattle could drink. “It didn’t matter how bad the weather was,” she comments. Work had to be done, even during severe snowstorms.

“If a rogue calf was born in a spring snowstorm, my siblings and I would find it, carry it back, bottle feed it, and return it to its mother,” explains Charene. If the mother rejected the calf, she and her family would bottle feed it.

Taking care of the animals wasn’t the only task that Charlene had. She has a solid working knowledge of the farm. “I have a pretty good understanding of rural living with wells, septic tanks, and irrigation. That’s a core part of my upbringing,” says Charlene, who has known how to drive since the age of 10.

Fast forward to today, Charlene isn’t afraid of much. “I’m not afraid to crawl into dark and damp crawl spaces,” she points out.

“I also enjoy analyzing real estate investments, which can feel just as scary.” She has a wealth of knowledge about properties because of her rural roots. Interestingly, she also has a competitive drive, dating to her high school and college days, that has shaped her character into who she is today.

SPORTS AND MORE

A runner in high school, Charlene has fond memories of running before attending school at the University of Nebraska. That’s where she rowed crew in college and also studied political science for three years.

“I had no money to go to law school,” she says. Instead, she switched her major to engineering with a focus on construction management. After graduation, she landed an incredible job at a construction company, including the opportunity to work overseas.

“I lived and worked in Dallas, New York City, London, and Chicago before coming to Boulder,” says Charlene. For a total of 12 years, she moved from project to project before coming to Boulder with Level 3 Communications.

“I got involved with real estate investments at that time and did some home remodeling. I just decided it would make sense to get my real estate license,” she shares. Charlene earned her license in 2016 and hasn’t looked back since.

CATERING TO CLIENTS

Charlene loves what she does and it shows with her enthusiasm. She comments, “I really enjoy helping people achieve their goals and look out for things that could cause issues in homeownership.” Being a facilitator and project manager comes easily to Charlene, who likes helping people stay on task.

“I work with a lot of people who are trying to downsize and look for the next phase of their life,” she says. “I also work with others who are looking for their first home.”

A hard worker, Charlene goes above and beyond for her clients, which is why she has many repeat clients. “I’m going to have my clients’ back,” she shares.

FAMILY, FUN AND A FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND

When not working, it’s all about family to Charlene, who is married to her husband Mo. She has three children of her own and three stepchildren, who have all been raised in Boulder. “All have graduated college and are now off in the world, which is exciting,” she says with pride.

To relax and unwind, Charlene likes to hike, bike, ski, and take leisurely road trips. She jokes, “I initially wanted to be a truck driver as a child. I thought it would be one of the coolest jobs to drive all over the country.” Now she simply likes taking road trips, stopping in small towns and places off the beaten path, regardless of the season. “My favorite saying is there is no bad weather, only a bad outfit,” she comments.

Still, there is no place like home for Charlene, who enjoys the constant companionship of her cat named Kitty. “She’s a really amazing cat and helps me work all day long,” she smiles. “I try to get her to do Instagram for me, but she is terrible at it,” she laughs. Her clients stay tuned to her Instagram, hoping to see some action from her cat. “I wish Kitty had more talent, but she’s just good at being a cat.”

A HEART OF GENEROSITY

Charlene also has a heart for serving others. She sits on the board of STARS (Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports), which is her way of helping others discover the joy of sports. A skier and a snowboarder, Charlene knows the impact sports can have on a person’s life. Helping people with disabilities find acceptance and build confidence through downhill skiing, hiking, cycling, and more is important to her.

A WONDERFUL LIFE

Charlene is living her best life here in Boulder. “There’s so many opportunities in Colorado for people raising

children to have a wonderful life,” she says. “I love being a Mom and I loved raising my kids in Boulder.” Now she is helping other families discover the joy of Boulder and all it has to offer.

From growing up on a farm in Nebraska to entering a new field in real estate, Charlene is an inspiration to others. With enough passion, persistence, and perseverance, anything is possible. Charlene’s only regret is that she didn’t discover real estate sooner.

25 Years of Extraordinary Homes .... It’s our honor & privileg e to ser ve you and your clients.

health and longevity

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “the gut microbiome is a microscopic world within the world of our larger body. The trillions of microorganisms that lie there affect each other and their environment in various ways. They also appear to influence many aspects of our overall health, both within and outside our digestive system.”

Scientists who study the gut microbiota often refer to it as the “forgotten organ.” It can have a huge impact on a person’s health. Some microbes are associated with disease. Others are important for good health.

Constipation affects the gut ecosystem and is linked to

WHY DETOX?

I have received feedback that I should move on from the colon articles! I will! I just want to re- emphasize the importance and prominent role the colon plays in our health and immune system. Remember: about 80% of our immune defense is in the colon! Therefore, we must pay attention to what goes in the digestive tract and what is eliminated - daily!

chronic diseases. “The gut ecosystem largely focuses on fermenting dietary fiber. That’s sort of the main function of the microbiome…” explained associate professor Sean Gibbons of Seattlebased Institute for Systems Biology (ISB). Mr. Gibbons noted that if stool stays in the gut too long, it ends up producing a lot of toxins known to damage our organs. This gut imbalance contributes to poor health and chronic disease progression.

You can now understand why nutritional and holistic/health-oriented medical professionals state that ‘death begins in the colon’.

Most of us have not been exposed to health and prevention. Our health system is more about disease maintenance through pharmaceutical drugs, which is fine in an emergency. But a system less expensive and less painful is prevention! A sensible lifestyle and a periodic cleaning will help avoid the trauma and drama of hospitals and emergency rooms!

A lifestyle that promotes health and longevity

depends on nutritious food and liquids; daily exercise; a positive attitude; and a routine detoxification program. We take better care of our cars than our bodies.

Today’s modern lifestyle has overloaded, polluted, irritated, constipated, and diseased our body’s elimination organs and systems! We also absorb toxins every day from our food, air, water, and medical drugs.

Detox or cleanse is a process of extracting and eliminating built-up waste, pharmaceutical drug residue, heavy metals, mucus, fluids, and harmful residues from the body. This waste can be found in our fat, muscles, organs, cells, and even in the spaces between the organs. Picture your gut as a lush, vibrant garden. In a healthy garden, there’s a balance of different plants, all working together to create a thriving ecosystem.

Now imagine that some invasive weeds start to take over. They choke out the beneficial plants, steal nutrients from the soil, and generally make a mess of things. Pretty soon, your once- beautiful garden is a disaster area.

The delicate balance of our gut “gardens” has been disrupted by the ‘junk’ food we eat. I consider periodic cleansing the most important preventive action we can do for our health. Remember that beer, pizza, and junk foods have a detrimental effect on the immune system. We can’t expect herbs and supplements to work miracles or to feel healthy and strong when maintaining a junk food diet.

And, although antibiotics have been life savers, they are like nuclear bombs in our delicate gut gardens (microbiome). They are unable to distinguish between good bacteria and bad… and destroy everything within reach.

Scientists and medical researchers are now discovering the full impact on our gut gardens from rampant antibiotic use. This helps to understand why gut issues like bloating, food sensitivities, constipation, and even obesity are skyrocketing in the Western world.

One of the best ways to prevent and heal disease is to assist the body by periodically eliminating built-up toxic waste in our ‘garden’.

“Like preventative maintenance on your car, routine

detoxification of your elimination organs is preventative maintenance for your body. In my clinic, seasonal detoxification was mandatory, not optional.”

Dr. Schultz

Cleansing and flushing old built-up waste from the body will give you years of trouble-free service. You will feel great, have much more energy, and prevent future problems and disease.

mucus, you will feel great and have more energy.

After detoxing, the body is clean, and it can absorb food efficiently. The immune system gets stronger, and every internal organ can do its job.

When the elimination organs are cleaned, flushed, and tuned-up, two things can happen: First, your problems go away! When the body is clean and healthy, the immune system can address the symptoms and begin the healing process.

Second, when the body removes toxins, waste, and

WHERE TO START: There are many ways in which to ‘cleanse’ or detox the colon. Most Whole Foods, Sprouts or other health stores will have a knowledgeable person in the vitamin department who can. guide you on which products to use.

American Botanical Pharmacy, Dr. Richard Shultz, has products for Intestinal, Liver and Kidney Cleansing. He, also, has a thirty-day “Cure the Incurable” program. (1-800-HERB-DOC)

Another example: https:// enerhealthbotanicals.com

has a Cleanse and Detox Purify Pack (Lymph, Liver, Intestinal Cleanse, and Kidney flush). Easy to do: Take two droppers full of each twice a day for 12 days and eat a low-fat clean diet during the cleanse.

If you are fortunate to have a Colon Hydro-therapist near you, I would recommend seeing them.

SUGGESTIONS FOR DAILY ASSISTANCE: We may laugh at ‘older’ people eating prunes. But they work! This will assist with daily elimination. But, if you have a history of constipation, or any illness, you will need a stronger, deeper cleanse.

Another easy ‘home remedy’ is having two tablespoons of good virgin olive oil before bedtime, followed by a cup of hot water.

To maintain good nutrition or during a cleanse when eating is minimal, you may want to consider ‘green foods. There are several good ‘green’ food powders to buy in the health store. (Dr. Schultz has several good ‘super green foods’ as well as a company called Garden of Life.) The above are a few simple ideas to implement easily. Remember, there is a reason the colon is considered the MVP of the organ system! When it is not working properly the whole body is affected.
