working in marketing and operations. Encouraged to get her real estate license, she joined the team selling home sites and never looked back. Her career next took her to Portland, Oregon, where she honed her skills in residential real estate and condo conversions. “I started as an assistant to a top producer, which was the best way to learn,” Kelly says. “By the time I went out on my own, I knew how to anticipate breakdowns and felt confident knowing how the business worked inside and out.”
A New Chapter How did Kelly come to Colorado? “Kicking and screaming,” she laughs. Philip, her husband of 25 years, worked for a Louisville-based company, and in 2009, the move became unavoidable. Soon, she fell in love with Colorado. Having met in Sun Valley, Philip and Kelly already shared a deep appreciation for the outdoors. “Looking back on the move, it was like things came full circle when we traded the rainy Pacific Northwest for bluebird skies and mountain air.”
It is not happiness that makes us grateful. It is gratefulness that makes us happy.”— David Steindl-Rast
Kelly Majure is an overcomer through and through. Challenges that would have sidelined others have instead given her grit and gratitude. “I continue to try to practice gratitude,” says Kelly. “It’s part of my daily ritual.” It’s a game-changer in her bustling real estate career. 16 • January 2026
“Real estate can be such an up-and-down business. Practicing gratitude smooths out the ride a little bit.” When she starts to panic about where her next deal is coming from, she pivots. “I remind myself where I’ve been and what I have both personally and professionally.”
“I had a pretty horrific accident hiking in 1993,” she recalls. “I was almost an amputee.” After the accident, walking unassisted took nearly a year and required a scooter or crutches. Multiple setbacks and surgeries followed while she was working as a paralegal.
“My job change came after my accident. I couldn’t climb up the four flights of stairs to get to the law office where I was working, so I was forced to look for a new job,” she says. Intrigued by development and how cities work, she joined The Valley Club, a new golf community south of Sun Valley, Idaho,
In Louisville, Kelly paused her real estate pursuits to focus on her family and dive into the community. “It’s the only time I haven’t worked.” She volunteered at her kids’ school as if it were a fulltime job, served as PTA Vice President, sat on the Special Education Advisory Council for BVSD, and later became Secretary of the Monarch Booster Club. Little did she know that those connections would become the heartbeat of her Colorado life. In 2012, Boulder County Real Producers • 17

Retriever Freedom Rescue during the pandemic, so thankfully she has helped fill the void.” The organization rescues dogs from puppy mills and shelters, placing them in loving homes. “It was quite the process with home visits and references.” But it was worth it.
Making Her Mark
she resumed her real estate career, this time in Colorado, changing lives along the way. Those community ties became even more meaningful after the Marshall Fire devastated the area. “So many friends and clients were impacted,” Kelly says. “I knew I had to help.” She volunteered at The Free Store, where fire victims could get essentials without question and helped

organize the Marshall Fire Holiday Market. The RE/ MAX Elevate office served as the collection point for donated decorations for displaced families. Kelly also pours her heart into animal rescue. “Anyone who knows us knows we are crazy about our golden retrievers,” she jokes. “We just lost our GOAT—he was 15½—but we adopted our girl Dandy from Golden
Today, as Managing Broker at RE/MAX Elevate in Louisville, Kelly leads with grace and gratitude. “I love supporting our agents,” she says. Whether talking through transactions or brainstorming ideas over coffee, she’s always ready to help. With 30 years of experience, she has seen countless market shifts and believes clients need reassurance. “We are now on the back side of a very robust market in 2021, and it is important to be honest about that with clients and help them navigate new territory.”
Calm under pressure, she prides herself on steadiness. “If I’m freaking out, how’s that going to help my clients?” she laughs. “I shoulder the stress so they don’t have to. Every transaction is different, and that’s what I love about real estate.” Her tagline, Real Estate Ready, says it all. “I don’t like surprises,” Kelly says. “I try to anticipate as much as I can and be prepared. I want my clients to feel like they’re my only client. When I’m with them, they get all of me.”
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys walking her dog, tending to her garden, hiking, yoga, and the occasional camping trip. She’s also a longtime member of the Coal Creek Community Choir, where singing is her creative outlet. Kelly and Philip are grateful for their community. As empty nesters, they enjoy quiet date nights at their favorite Italian restaurant, working together in their yard, catching live music, and cheering on college football—GO Ducks! They treasure their wonderful circle of friends.
Final Thoughts As David Steindl-Rast said, “It is gratefulness that makes us happy.” For Kelly, that truth shows up daily, from how she supports clients to the wag of her golden retriever’s tail. Through grace and grit, she’s discovered that gratitude doesn’t just change how you see the world; it transforms how you live in it. Gratitude is a powerful force that has changed her life for the better.
Family + Fun When not working, Kelly treasures family time. Her son Gage, 23, recently graduated from the University of South Carolina and is “adulting in Charlotte,” with plans for law school. Her daughter Georgia, 20, attends the University of Northern Colorado and wants to be a teacher. “A large part of why is because of all the learning struggles she went through as a student. She works so darn hard.”

she resumed her real estate career, this time in Colorado, changing lives along the way.

Why success comes from taking action before you feel ready. BY EMILY BOSSERT
“You may not feel like doing the work today, but the work itself changes how you feel.” -David Goggins Every January, our real estate world vibrates with new goals, fresh vision boards, and brand new planners. We begin with a sense of clarity and hope. Then, in February and March, momentum often slips. It isn’t because you don’t care, or because you lack ability. It is usually because you are waiting for something that seldom arrives on its own. That something is motivation. Many agents believe they must feel motivated before they take action. They wait for the spark, the perfect moment, the right feeling. But the agents who consistently grow understand something different. Motivation does not lead. Rather, action leads. If you wait until you feel ready, you will always be behind the agents who simply begin. Real estate is hard work. You deal with: • rejection • changing markets • inconsistent income • client disappointment • deals that fall Your brain is wired to avoid discomfort and protect you, so when your first thought is, “I

don’t feel like calling today,” or “I’ll do it tomorrow,” you are simply being human. But that moment often defines the trajectory of your year.
Real estate is a profession. Your clients depend on you to be consistent, prepared, and reliable. Motivation is fickle. Responsibility and professionalism are constant.
The agents who succeed are not always the most talented. They are the ones who have trained themselves to act despite how they feel.
One simple principle that can change everything is the ten-minute rule. Commit to ten minutes of action before evaluating how you feel. Make five database calls, write two handwritten notes, prepare for a listing appointment, or review your hot and warm leads. In nearly every case, motion leads to momentum. If after ten minutes nothing has clicked, you can stop, but you will find you rarely do.
Think about a day when you did not feel like doing outreach, and yet you did it anyway. Suddenly a past client answered, a referral came through, someone requested a CMA, and a sense of momentum returned. That was not motivation magically arriving. That was discipline creating motion. Your mood follows your movement, and your confidence builds through follow-through. Every time you act without waiting to “feel ready,” you affirm, “I am a professional. I do the work.” When you wait for motivation, you affirm, “I can only perform when it feels easy.” One of the most powerful shifts you can make is to change the question from “How do I get myself motivated to act?” to “Who am I becoming?” When you begin to see yourself as: • the agent who follows up • the agent who shows up • the agent who refines their skills • the agent who communicates consistently with their sphere your actions naturally align. Identity leads behavior. Once you decide who you are, the excuses you use lose their grip on you. Imagine a surgeon saying, “I didn’t feel motivated to operate today,” or a pilot saying, “I’ll take off when I’m inspired.”
The agents who will grow are the ones who: • lead generate on the days they do not want to • follow up even when they feel discouragedrefine their skills when results are slow • keep structure when the market fluctuates • show up with enthusiasm even when life gets difficult If you remember anything from this article remember this. Your business grows through disciplined action, not fleeting inspiration. Choose one action in the next 24 hours that your future self will thank you for. Call five past clients, schedule two coffees, send three CMAs, organize your database, film a short video, or clear and reset your workspace. Do not wait for motivation. Act because you have decided who you are becoming. Motivation arrives when it wants to. It is unreliable and inconsistent. Discipline is rooted, steady, and always available to you. through quiet, consistent, purposeful action. When you stop waiting to feel motivated and start acting like the agent you want to become, something shifts. Life begins to look different. Your confidence grows. Your identity becomes clearer. Your business begins to evolve. That is when the business you have envisioned begins to take shape. Not because you felt ready, but because you moved anyway.

LEGACY REALTOR®
JOAN PALLONE Faith, Family, and 35 Years of Real Estate Excellence
It was a moment that could have been terrifying. A vacant house. A staged photograph of a little girl. Joan Pallone’s high school son Vinny, staring wide-eyed, whispering into the phone, “Mom… I don’t know who these weirdos are, but they have a picture of our little Stella. You need to fire them right away.” He was freaked out, convinced something was terribly wrong!
But if you know Joan Pallone, you know moments like this are exactly the kind of challenge she thrives on. She built her career from the ground up, determined to make it. It’s no wonder that she is one of Colorado’s most respected real estate agents. (And in case you’re wondering, her daughter-in-law staged the house with Stella’s photo.) Staging was a new concept! Born in Omaha, Nebraska, one of ten kids with seven girls and three boys, Joan learned early how to advocate and stand her ground. “We were raised to believe in ourselves and that anything was possible through hard work and persistence.” Joan’s parents started their own engineering business when she was just 10. It left an impression on her. “Every night, they would talk, I would learn so much about what it really means to be in business. It’s always about customer service, caring, and taking the high road. Making sure that you are communicating in a way they feel comfortable.” 26 • January 2026

“Al taught and coached there. Our children went there. Our grandchildren go there. This community has given us so much and I just want to give back.”
A Happy Life Now, life is full. “I only work 40 hours a week,” Joan jokes. “I feel like I’m retired.” With 15 grandchildren, ages 6 to 26, she’s surrounded by love. “Three of our five kids live within half a mile from us. grew up in the housing projects in New York and was meant to be a teacher and a coach.” The only problem? Joan would need to go back to work. “I kept thinking, ‘What would be an avenue where I could make a difference in our lives?” After lots of prayers, she got an answer.
“I couldn’t have a day off without relying on him,” she smiles. Although they don’t work as a team, they do function as a team. “We help each other continually, running everything past each other to make sure that we are making the right decisions. I’m very happy to have him with me in real estate.”
“Real estate.”
When asked about the secrets to success, Joan knows it comes down to communication. “You have to make sure clients know what is going on,” she candidly comments. “And be transparent. Don’t be afraid to tell them bad news. This is their biggest investment of their entire life.”
She took action, attending real estate school and earning her license 35 years ago. She worked tirelessly and has always been passionate about homeownership. “I became a homeowner at the age of 21, right after we got married,” she says. “My parents were always big believers that homeownership empowered your life. I have carried that forward. It has been an absolute privilege to make a difference in people’s lives, especially people who thought they couldn’t buy homes.” To Joan at Pallone & Associates, real estate is about helping people. “That’s one of the great benefits,” she says. “I look at this job as an opportunity.” Looking over her career, she has nothing but gratitude. “I’m extremely blessed and humbled by the trust that people have put in me.” She says with conviction. She’s also grateful to Vinny, her youngest son, for helping her. 28 • January 2026
Giving Back Giving back is important to Joan, dating back to her childhood. “My parents instilled in us the importance of giving back to the community,” she says. Since moving to Broomfield in 1979, she’s given generously of her time and resources by supporting Bal Swan Children’s Center, Broomfield High School, Broomfield Senior Resources, Knights of Columbus, and Broomfield FISH, the local food bank. “My booster banner has been on the Broomfield High fence for over 40 years,” she laughs.
Joan loves traveling and cooking, especially Italian dishes. “I married an Italian from New York, so my mother-in-law had to teach me how to cook Italian!” “Now I love making meatballs, red sauce, toasted ravioli, and many other family favorites.” As for retirement, Joan says she’ll hang up her keys one day, knowing the business is in good hands. “Vinny’s been in training since he was a kid,” she says proudly. “He’s now an accomplished REALTOR®, husband, and father of three. When I do retire, I hope people will continue to work with him.” After 54 years of marriage, Al still lends a helping hand. Whether putting up a sign or picking up a check, he does it. “He’s been my rock through it all.” Joan’s life is about fearlessness and faith. “I saw a meme once that said, ‘We don’t do real estate because it’s easy. We do it because we thought it would be easy,’” she laughs. “I never thought it would be easy, but I’ve loved every minute of it. To find your calling and live it every single day is a blessing beyond words.”

To find your calling and live it every single day is a blessing beyond words.”

what are
BELIEFS
BY DR. FELICIA SANTELLI
(This is the month to consider resolutions, but then they are usually forgotten by the end of the month! Why not reflect on our beliefs instead? These are basic thoughts, usually unconscious ones, that were instilled in us at a young age that continue to affect how we live our lives.)
emotions, which create our reality and state of being which is how we see the world! This often keeps us recreating our past and wonder why we cannot have a different future. Henry Ford said: ‘If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.’ Beliefs are powerful because they influence our perceptions, actions, and ultimately, our reality. They act as a filter through which we interpret the world, shaping our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, jobs, etc. Every decision starts with a belief. We base our decisions on what we believe to be true. Sometimes, we believe something that isn’t true. Both intellectual and emotional, beliefs influence our behavior when facts and reason alone don’t. We may not realize that we’ve held onto certain ideas that we don’t agree with anymore. As mentioned, most beliefs are unconscious, coming from an early age and have become a part of our self-representation and self-image.
What Actually Is a Belief? And Why Is It So Hard to Change? “For some of our most important beliefs, we have no evidence at all, except that people we love, and trust hold these beliefs. Considering how little we know, the confidence we have in our beliefs is preposterous—and it is also essential.” 2002 Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman
Beliefs can affect our health. Beliefs, whether cultural, spiritual, or personal convictions, significantly influence health behaviors, health outcomes, and healthcare interactions. They shape choices related to diet, lifestyle, treatment adherence, and how individuals cope with stress and illness.
What are beliefs? Philosophy has struggled to define them. Psychiatrists try to identify distorted beliefs, to understand how they formed, and help people to learn to be more skeptical of their own beliefs.
Beliefs about health, illness, and treatment can affect how healthcare providers interact with patients, influencing their decisions about treatment plans and communication strategies.
Primary core beliefs are foundational, often unconscious, thoughts that shape a person’s worldview. They are usually formed in early childhood and can be positive or negative.
Cultural or religious beliefs can affect our dietary choices and lifestyle habits. Our beliefs can play a role in how we cope with stress and manage emotional well-being.
A belief is the mental acceptance of something as true or credible, most often without definitive proof. It is a mental state that holds an idea, opinion, or conviction about the world, oneself, or others. Beliefs can be based on faith, personal experience, or reasoning, and they are foundational to how we perceive and interact with reality.
The influence of culture on health is vast. It affects perceptions of health, illness, and death. Beliefs about causes of disease, approaches to health promotion, how illness and pain are experienced and expressed, where when and how patients seek help, and the types of treatment patients prefer.
Some examples of core beliefs: 1. Don’t go out without a coat or you’ll catch a cold. (We don’t ‘catch’ anything! It has to do with a healthy immune system.) 2. You have your mother’s thighs, so you’ll have trouble with weight like she did. 3. I know once I reach my 60’s I’ll have some kind of illness. 4. Eat, drink and be merry because tomorrow we die. There are many ideas we have been told as a child: you’re not pretty; you will never be good in math; the world is a dangerous place. Here are some other examples of both positive and negative beliefs which may resonate with you: 1. Honesty is the best policy. 2. Hard work leads to success. 3. Money can’t buy happiness. 4. Everyone deserves respect. 5. Everything happens for a reason. 6. There is a solution to every problem. 7. I am not good enough. 8. Opposites attract. 9. Full moons cause strange behavior. 10. I can do anything I set my mind to. 30 • January 2026
Core beliefs are deeply buried and can feel as fundamental as one’s identity. They give us a framework to interpret situations, influencing our emotions, decisions, and behaviors. They are outside of our conscious awareness which makes them difficult to change. In this ideologically polarized world, I feel we need a better understanding of beliefs and making a more coherent sense of what they really are, and why mistaken beliefs can be so hard to change. A lot of our belief framework is learned at an early age from parents and other adult authority figures. Many human beliefs are the cumulative products of a culture. Children are strongly predisposed to believe their parents, and, as adults, we are inclined to believe authorities. These basic beliefs create our attitudes, which create our behavior, which create our experiences, which create our
When we think about it it’s no wonder that it’s so hard to change our cherished and entrenched beliefs. So, instead of resolutions, let’s consider reflecting on ideas and thoughts of ourselves that may be influencing our lives and ask how are they serving us? And, if we’re honest with ourselves, we will find many such beliefs that we can let go, change and be who we know and believe we truly are!!! “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are, and change the ending.” C.S. Lewis
