Students off to Arizona with town twining association

Students from Killarney will be going on a trip of lifetime in October thanks to a project by the Killarney Town Twinning Association.

The association met with delegates from the town of Scottsdale, Arizona this week.

Scottsdale is unique in the sense that it is Sister City of Killarney – a step up from the traditional Twin City arrangement. The meeting, led by Deputy Mayor John O’Donoghue at Killarney Golf Club, strengthened ties between the towns. Killarney Town Twinning Association will welcome Mayor Bill Duich from Concord, North Carolina who will mark 30 years of the twinning agreement between the two towns.

Members of the public are advised not to bathe in water if there are visible signs of algal growth in the vicinity.

They are also advised to ensure that they keep their dogs under control as such algal accumulations can be harmful on ingestion by small animals. The situation is being monitored closely on an ongoing basis by Kerry County Council.
