A cool iPhone feature that can help you sleep 'It's beautiful' -Ryan Tubridy on his U2 gifted Vespa

Ryan Tubridy has offered an update on the fate of his brand new Vespa, which was gifted to him by Bono and the rest of U2.

Speaking on his RTE Radio One show this week, the former Late Late Show host revealed he'd be picking up the iconic bike very soon.

'Quick update on the vespa, it's coming!,'

Ryan told fans, 'The U2 vespa is due to land in my front garden on Thursday and I'm very excited.'

Now a common theme for departing hosts of the ‘Late Late’, U2 made sure to mark Ryan's last night with a special gift.

Gay Byrne got a Harley Davison and Pat Kenny got a Hudson guitar, and now Ryan was gifted his very own red Vespa.

Scientists find ‘lost world’ in billion-year-old Australian rock

Scientists have discovered a “lost world” of ancient organisms in billion-year-old rocks from northern Australia that they say could change the world’s understanding of humans’ earliest ancestors. The microscopic creatures, known as Protosterol Biota, are part of a family of organisms called eukaryotes and lived in Earth’s waterways about 1.6 billion years ago, according to the researchers.

Modern forms of eukaryotes include fungi, plants, animals and single-celled organisms such as amoebae. iPhones have a selection of snooze-friendly sounds - perfect for listening to when you first hop into bed. Users can choose from: Balanced noise, Bright noise, Dark noise, Ocean, Rain and Stream.

Scientist Jochen Brocks, who made the discovery, said the Protosterol Biota were more complex than bacteria and presumably larger, although it is unknown what they looked like.

“We believe they may have been the first predators on Earth, hunting and devouring bacteria,” the professor said in a statement.

Research shows these certain types of sounds can help people fall asleep faster - and remain in a deep slumber. One study found 80 per cent of new- born babies dozed off within five minutes when listening to white noise - sound that contains all frequencies across the spectrum of audible sound in equal measure.

This compared to only 25 per cent in silence.

Another report discovered adults fell asleep 38 per cent quicker when exposed to white noise.

Niall Horan has said he was "afraid" to go out after being "chased" by fans while touring with One Direction.

"We'd go to countries and never see a second of it - it was hotel, venue, plane, same again," the Irish singer-songwriter said.

"We couldn't get out the door. If you went out in the car, you'd be seen and chased.

"I understand why it was going on, but it gave me a thing where, when I came back to London, I would be afraid to go out. There was a period where I actually couldn't."

The boy band was put on indefinite hiatus six years after it formed in 2010 and became one of the biggest pop groups in the world, with five albums and four world tours.

Horan, who has launched a solo career with hit songs Slow Hands and Heaven, said he is "excited" and "nervous" to be releasing his third album The Show.
