Killarney House Junior Parkrun celebrates one year of success

Killarney House junior Parkrun celebrated its first anniversary in style recently.

The event, held at 9:30 am every Sunday morning at Killarney House gardens, has brought together over 350 runners in its inaugural year, thanks to the amazing support of almost 100 dedicated local volunteers.

In the past year, Killarney House junior Parkrun has played a pivotal role in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth of the area. With 50 parkrun events successfully organised, it has become a fixture in the local community calendar.

To mark this special milestone, the anniversary event saw an impressive turnout of 73 runners, including both familiar faces and newcomers.

The morning’s run proved to be a resounding success, with 18 participants achieving personal best times.

The sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among the runners, spectators and volunteers further highlighted the positive impact that Killarney House junior parkrun has had on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for young athletes.

Following the fun run, participants and their families congregated at the renowned Deenagh Lodge tearooms to continue the celebrations. The tearooms provided a picturesque setting where children and adults could relish in the post-run festivities.

The anniversary celebration included an amazing cake, generously sponsored by Dalys Supervalu, a local supermarket known for its commitment to community initiatives.

“We are immensely proud of what Killarney House Junior parkrun has accomplished in its first year,” said one of the event directors. “It’s been incredible to witness the growth of the event and witness the positive impact it has had on the lives of our young runners. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support from our local volunteers and sponsors.”
