LETTER THE EDITOR TO Dear Sir/Madam,
Whatever about a GAA museum or stadium upgrade, surely the County Board need to come up with a solution to the parking chaos around Fitzgerald Stadium on big match days? If it was any other sporting or concert event a proper traffic and parking plan would have to be submitted to, and approved by, the relevant authorities. How, in this day and age, the by pass road of a major town can be used as a carpark is beyond belief, a road that has seen more than enough fatal accidents, surely it's a matter of time before a child or indeed adult will walk out from between parked cars onto the path of oncoming traffic with a tragic outcome. Surely there's enough outlying fields or carparks where a park and ride system could operate, there's certainly enough coach companies around to operate such a system. Is it not time for the County Board or head office to provide the most basic and safest of facilities for its patrons?
Yours, Brendan O'Shea,
