Charity CEO goes barefoot for major Kerry Challenge fundraiser
A charity CEO is planning to follow in the footsteps of people living with an excruciatingly painful skin disease by hiking over rocks and stones in his bare feet.
DEBRA Ireland chief executive, Jimmy Fearon, is taking part in his charity’s annual Kerry Challenge fundraiser next month.
Along with 120 participants, he will trek mountain paths and forest trails along the Dingle Peninsula in aid of the charity, which supports the on average 300 people in Ireland with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a rare and incurable skin disease.
Also known as ‘Butterfly Skin’, it causes the skin to break out in painful blisters at the slightest touch.
