Dear guests, Welcome to our annual Cork & Barrel wine event series! This year we are especially excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this wonderful event. During the past decade, we have featured an abundance of incredible wine and food from many amazing wine regions across the country, and 2022 is no different. In this 10th anniversary year, we are thrilled to return to the Willamette Valley wine region to once again feature the diverse and bountiful varietals from just across the Cascade range. We are deeply grateful for your support and for the participation of the wineries, chefs, restaurants, donors, and volunteers who make these events possible. An extra special welcome and thanks to our guest wineries from the Willamette Valley. And special thanks to Chef Bob and Riverhouse on the Deschutes for hosting us again this year. While we are all here to celebrate, we’re also here to do good. Your attendance at Cork & Barrel is making a tremendous difference in the lives of children and families facing abuse throughout Central Oregon. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, 100 percent of your donations will go directly toward child abuse evaluations, family support and advocacy, therapy, and training adults to prevent child abuse. Funds raised at these events provide approximately 20 percent of KIDS Center’s $3.3 million annual operating budget, making life-changing child abuse intervention services available at no cost to hundreds of Central Oregon children and families every year. Over the last nine years, Cork & Barrel attendees have netted $4.2 million to help Central Oregon children overcome the devastating effects of abuse. Every ticket sold, every auction item purchased, every donation made at Cork & Barrel powers community child abuse prevention programs and funds critical services for children impacted by abuse. Thanks to you and the 5,374 people who have attended Cork & Barrel these past nine years, local families can receive child abuse evaluations, family advocacy, and healing therapy at no cost. Cork & Barrel’s impact on the community. This annual fundraiser has supported child abuse services for families in Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson counties. Cork & Barrel has enabled KIDS Center to extend free therapy to siblings and non-offending caregivers— so the whole family can heal. Since Cork & Barrel began, attendees have helped thousands of local families find hope and healing.

What it costs to help families heal. Child abuse evaluations typically include a forensic interview, medical exam, and a meeting with a family advocate. These services require coordination beforehand with families and community partners, and also require extensive documentation and Cost of reporting. After the direct services for evaluation, 1 child children, siblings and non-offending caregivers can take advantage of healing Medical Forensic Exam Interview therapy—at no cost— for as long as they need it.

The highly-anticipated Live Auction takes place during dinner. Grand Cru guests will find numbered bidding cards at their table. Auctioneer Fred Northup will introduce each auction package and lead the bidding. See our Live Auction Packages on page 39.

Auction Guidelines Payment

1. All payments shall be by cash, credit card, certified check, or personal check made payable to KIDS Center. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards. 2. Full payment must be made for all purchases at the conclusion of the Auction, unless payment arrangements have been made, such as payment to be coming from a stock or fund. 3. Cashiers, located in the check-in area, will accept payment after the auction, unless Purchaser has previously opted to use the Quick Check-Out method (below).

Quick Check-In and Check-Out

Quick Check-In saves time by eliminating the need to stop and pay at the Check-Out area at the end of the Auction. 1. At registration, swipe your MasterCard, VISA or American Express card, or give your credit card information to the cashier. NO CHARGES will be issued to your card unless you make purchases or donations. If you opted to keep a credit card on file from your ticket purchase, that credit card will be verified at check-in for easy checkout and payment. 2. Maximize the impact of your gift by covering your 3% credit card processing fee. Just let us know at check-in! (Cork & Barrel credit card fees cost KIDS Center almost $15,000 each year!) 3. Please verify your cell phone number to receive your unique bidding link. This will ensure only you and your authorized bidders are accessing your account for the Online Auction. 4. At the end of the evening, simply proceed to Check Out in the lobby (the same area where you checked in) to verify and claim your purchases. If no purchases are made, your card will not be charged, and any voided blank checks will be returned to you by mail.

Conditions of Purchase

1. KIDS Center and the Cork & Barrel Wine Event (the “Seller”) reserves the right to refuse admission to, or attendance by, any person at the Auction or related events. 2. The auctioneer is the agent for the Seller. 3. All wine and other items are sold “as is.” Purchasers must rely only on their own inspection and/or opinion; Seller makes no warranties, expressed or implied. 4. Seller does not warrant or represent, and expressly denies responsibility for, and in no event shall be responsible for, the accuracy or description of wines offered, or the correctness of the catalog, including, but not limited to the origin, rarity, age, genuineness, quality, quantity, or condition. 5. Unless specifically set forth, all auction items expire on July 16, 2023.

Bidding

1. All bids are per item as set forth in the catalog, unless otherwise announced by the auctioneer. 2. Seller may combine or divide any item(s) at their sole discretion. 3. Auctioneer and Seller have the right to reject any bid at any time prior to the fall of the hammer without liability. If the Auctioneer decides that any opening does not correspond with the value of the article offered, the Auctioneer may reject the bid and withdraw the item from sale; and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, the Auctioneer decides that any advance thereafter is insufficient, the auctioneer may reject the advance. 4. No live auction bid shall be valid unless expressly acknowledged by the Auctioneer. 5. The highest Bidder acknowledged during the live, silent, or online auction shall be the Purchaser and therein assumes full risk and responsibility. 6. By raising a bidder paddle, making a proxy bid, or making a silent or online auction bid, the Bidder warrants that s/he will pay the full purchase price if successful. 7. The Auctioneer shall have the absolute right to resolve any dispute, reoffer, resell, or withdraw the lot in question. If any dispute arises after the sale, the Seller’s sale records shall be conclusive in all respects. 8. All items offered for sale may be subject to a minimum price below which such lot will not be sold. That minimum price may be publicly stated or confidential. 9. Silent and online auction bid closing times will be posted. At close, the highest acknowledged Bidder shall be deemed to have purchased the item.

Item Pick Up and Shipping

1. Purchases must be picked up by the purchaser prior to leaving the venue at the conclusion of the Auction. Buyers will receive a receipt listing their purchases and after reviewing and approving the receipt, they will pick up their items. 2. If buyers are not present at the conclusion, buyers may pick up items on Friday, July 22 at KIDS Center from 9 am–6 pm. Or call 541-383-5958 to make special arrangements. 3. Any item(s) not removed from the venue by the above time will be held for three (3) weeks at KIDS Center, 1375 NW Kingston Ave, Bend, OR 97703. KIDS Center will make an attempt to contact the winning bidder. If the Bidder fails to retrieve the item(s) in question by the end of the three-week period, KIDS Center will assume the Bidder has abandoned the property and relinquished it to KIDS Center, treat the Bidder’s payment as a straight donation to KIDS Center, and seek to make other use of the item(s) that the Bidder has abandoned. 4. Purchaser shall incur all shipping and insurance costs for items not picked up at the conclusion of the Auction. Shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. 5. Out-of-state Bidders shall be familiar with the laws of their locality since shipping regulations, especially those pertaining to beverages of alcoholic content, vary from state to state. 6. In the event of loss or damage to any item incurred in the course of its handling or storage during the auction event and before possession is taken by the Buyer, the Buyer will be compensated as follows: 1) if the item has not been paid for, the exact amount of the bid placed will be subtracted from the Buyer’s purchases; or 2) if the item has been paid for, the Buyer will receive a refund of that bid amount.

Alexana Winery & Vineyards Dr. Madaiah Revana’s love of the great wines from Burgundy launched a search for the perfect piece of land in the Willamette Valley. Today, Alexana’s Revana Vineyard is one of the most unique in the US, with 18 soil types found within 55 acres in the Dundee Hills. Dr. Revana’s boyhood on a farm in India gave him an appreciation for the rhythms of the land. He recognizes the depth of knowledge needed to succeed with a specialized crop. Alexana wines receive the highest of accolades every year.

Anam Cara Cellars The words, “Anam Cara”, are Celtic for “friend of my soul” and represent Anam Cara’s attitude that wine—like friendships—can transcend time and distance and create memorable experiences. Anam Cara wines are all grown and farmed organically from their vineyard on the southeast-facing slope of the Chehalem Mountains AVA in the hills above Newberg, Oregon.

Brittan Vineyards Robert and Ellen Brittan left their respective winemaking and wine marketing careers in the Napa Valley almost 20 years ago to pursue cool climate winemaking in the Willamette Valley. They established their estate vineyard in the foothills of the Coast Range in the McMinnville AVA of the Willamette Valley. Brittan Vineyards has helped bring a style and definition to Pinot Noir from this unique winegrowing region. With the help of Harold, a Bernedoodle, and Henry, a Goldendoodle, the Brittans are hands-on owners and winemakers who continue to elevate the production of Pinot Noir in Oregon.

THE WINERIES

Domaine Serene Named after daughter, Serene, and with their first vineyard on the estate named after son, Mark Bradford Evenstad, Domaine Serene is a family success story focused on excellence. Today, Domaine Serene produces wines from six individual vineyard estates in the Dundee Hills planted exclusively to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each estate offers a diversity of soils, clones, rootstocks, microclimates, slopes, and elevations that add distinguishing complexity and elegance to the wines.

Eola Hills Wine Cellars The founder of Eola Hills Wine Cellars, Tom Huggins, convinced a handful of friends and family members in the early ‘80s to invest in a 35-acre wheat field just a few miles west of Salem—a site he felt was ideal for growing grapes. This hearty bunch of Oregonians prepared the land and planted every vine themselves. Today the winery farms 325 acres of prime vineyard land. Eola wines capture the spirit and flavors of Oregon and are enjoyed across the country and internationally.

THE WINERIES

The Four Graces Named after the founder’s four daughters, The Four Graces farms two vineyards in the Willamette Valley: The Foley Family Vineyard in the Dundee Hills and Doe Ridge in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Both vineyards are farmed sustainably, including biodynamic methods in some parts. Winemaker Tim Jones grew up in the Pacific Northwest and has worked in many areas of the wine industry. His studies in viticulture and enology at UC Davis eventually led him back to Oregon and The Four Graces. Outside of wine, Tim enjoys backpacking, cooking, pub-trivia, gardening, and he is quick to point out that he’s pretty good at hide-and-seek with his toddler.

Hamacher Wines Growing up bussing tables in high-end restaurants, Eric Hamacher’s love of wine (particularly Pinot Noir) developed early. After graduating from UC Davis in 1988, he spent several years working at wineries around the world and served as winemaker for some of the most respected Pinot Noir producers in California. In 1995, he arrived in Oregon to establish Hamacher Wines and continue his quest to make “The Great Pinot.” When he’s not in the vineyard or in the cellar, Eric can be found working at his home estate, Paloma Vineyard, which he shares with his wife and four kids, Scottish Highlanders, goats, bees, and various other farm animals. He fills his spare time with gardening, cooking, fishing, skiing, reading, and traveling.

THE WINERIES

Hayworth Estate Wines In 2006, Russ and Keely Hayworth decided to plant some small blocks of Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir, and Pinot Gris grapevines. A shared commitment to those “hearty little vines” and a passion for winemaking led the couple to expand their vineyard production and launch Hayworth Estate Wines. They now produce a wide variety of wines, from sparkling Muscat to Pinot Noir to Chardonnay and Viognier.

Lange Estate Winery & Vineyards Don and Wendy Lange tasted their way through the Willamette Valley in the ‘80s, only stopping when they got to the Dundee Hills. It was in front of a real estate sign in the Dundee Hills that the Langes had their “aha” Oregon wine moment—and Lange Winery was born. Named Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits and hailed as “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers” by Wine Enthusiast, Lange has enjoyed a decades-long track record of producing wines that have garnered 90 points or more.

THE WINERIES

Moffett Vineyards Moffett Vineyards traces its legacy to the Livingston Moffett Winery, which was founded in 1976 in the heart of the Napa Valley by Trent Moffetts’ parents, Diane and John Livingston. For 22 years, Trent helped grow the family winery from the cellars to the marketplace. With a dream of pursuing the ultimate Pinot Noir in Oregon, Trent relocated to the northern Willamette Valley with wife Colleen and their three small children in 2014. Trent is making four different Pinot Noirs from three different Willamette Valley sub-appellations.

Purple Hands Winery Native to Oregon’s vineyards and farmland, owners Cody and Marque Wright are most intrigued by wines that reveal the history of their local landscape. Winemaker Cody has been in the cellar his whole life—with stints at home and abroad—and has followed in the footsteps of his father, Ken Wright. All Purple Hands wines undergo native fermentation and remain unrefined and unfiltered at bottling to preserve their natural, wild character. Achieving elegance in this pursuit is the passion and art of their craft.

PROJECT M Wines PROJECT M is the vision of Meg and Jerry Murray. With more than 30 years of collective wine industry experience, they craft precise and elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rosé and Riesling from distinctive sites in the Willamette Valley. The mission of PROJECT M is to enhance their customer’s quality of life. Meg and Jerry create wines that aim to facilitate the shared experience of beauty. They believe that a great farmer can squeeze every drop of potential from every opportunity by making the right decisions at the right time. PROJECT M works with growers of premium fruit in the Willamette Valley, all of whom share the same deep respect and reverence for the land. Redhawk Vineyard & Winery John and Betty Pataccoli purchased the Redhawk Vineyard and Winery in 2005 and devoted many years to upgrading the infrastructure of the winery and improving the health of the vineyard. Their goal: becoming a premium grower and producer of quality Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Dolcetto and Riesling. Nestled in a beautiful rural area with a spectacular view of the Willamette Valley and Mt. Hood, Redhawk is just 4 miles from downtown Salem. The winery enjoys a reputation of being a warm and inviting wine brand with excellent wines.

Stoller Wine Bar | Bend The Stoller Wine Bar | Bend open in the Box Factory winter 2021. A popular destination, this is the first satellite location for the Stoller Wine Group’s family of wine brands, which offers guests a blend of small-town hospitality and urban style. Wine lovers can sip and savor award-winning wines from Stoller Family Estate, Chehalem Winery, History, Chemistry and Canned Oregon. Visitors can choose from more than 40 wines and get a glass, flight or bottle along with cheese and charcuterie boards and small plates.

Van Duzer Vineyards A love of the land drew Carl and Marilynn Thoma to establish Van Duzer Vineyards on a panoramic knoll in the Willamette Valley at the mouth of the Van Duzer Corridor. Their firm belief in the corridor’s unique microclimate—a deep gap in the Oregon Coast Range that draws brisk air from the Pacific Ocean—and its influence on the production of premium Oregon Pinot Noir remains strong after 17+ harvests. The winery selected a zephyr, the gentle west wind of Greek mythology, as a symbol of the unique climate.

Willamette Valley Vineyards Jim Bernau, founder and CEO of Willamette Valley Vineyards, began building his Oregon wine dream from a young age. A native Oregonian, Bernau’s journey started from winemaking at home to studies at UC Davis to time spent in Beaune, France. Ultimately, his path led back to the fertile Willamette Valley. Unable to afford drip irrigation, he watered the vines in his newly planted Estate vineyard using 17 lengths of 75’ garden hose to get the grapelings through their first summer! Today, Willamette Valley Vineyards is internationally recognized as a premium producer of Pinot Noir, and the wine is truly a collaborative effort of the entire vineyard and winemaker staff.

Chef Robert Parks RIVERHOUSE ON THE DESCHUTES

Chef Robert Parks grew up in the Pittsburgh area and was exposed early on to many cultures that sparked his passion for a culinary career, as food can be a bonding element anywhere in the world! Upon graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, he held positions at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan, Hilton Head Island, the Ritz Carlton in Naples FL, and the Woodlands Convention Center & Resort in Houston. He continued his career in the private luxury country club sector in San Diego and Sarasota FL, along with culinary consulting work in Canada and southern France. He and his family moved to Oregon, as it was always a dream of his to live in the Pacific Northwest and enjoy its diversity in the culinary world and the beautiful outdoors that Central Oregon offers.
