BOOKS TO READ R EV IEWED BY LOCAL CHILDR EN

Marge in Charge by Isla Fisher RRP: £5.99 Piccadilly Press Marge in Charge is an exciting book about the best babysitter ever. Marge is Jemima’s & Jakey’s babysitter. She is as small as a child, has multicoloured hair & lets the children drink chocolate soup for dinner! She is full of fun & has lots of tricks to make the children do things they don’t like doing, like eating Broccoli! (which I also don’t like doing). The children have lots of exciting adventures during each of the short stories. I think this book is great for all the family and I can’t wait to read it again’. Reviewed By Marci Randle Aged 5

A Dot In The Snow by Corrine Averiss and Fiona Woodcock A little polar bear wants to play instead of helping his mummy dive for fish. He runs off and makes friends with a little girl and they have fun playing together in the snow. The story was really easy to follow and was exciting. It had just the right amount of words and pages for mummy to read to me as a bedtime story. I really liked the pictures in this book, they were beautiful. I think lots of children would love this book. Reviewed by Beau Blacklock aged 2 1/2

Rowan Oakwing by E.J.Clarke RRP £6 99 Published by Little Brown This book is about a little girl called Rowan who turns into a fairy by magic. After Rowan’s Mum goes missing, she finds herself on a magical adventure trying to find her. With the help of a Robin and some other fairies, they try and track her down. There is danger along the way and lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the book and I would recommend it to children who like fairies. Reviewed by: Poppy Dellar Age: 9 ¾

GUS’S GARAGE By Leo Timmers RRP: £10.99, Published by Gecko Press My big brother Milan read Gus’s Garage to me and I really like it. I like the big bright colourful pictures and all the different animals driving the different cars to the garage. My favourite animal is Gina. I like counting all her coloured scarfs. My favourite car is the car with the rocket that Gus fixes for Henry Hare. I like the way the words rhyme and sound, they make a little song. I really like this book. Reviewed by Yash Patel aged 3

Letter to Pluto by Lou Treleaven. RRP £5.99 Published by Maverick Arts Publishing. Letter to Pluto is about a boy whose teacher makes him write to a girl who lives on the planet Pluto. The book reads like it is a diary which is pretty cool and the pictures make it more fun for me to read. This is a great bed time book to read together as a family Reviewed by Jack Heptinstall-Bolton Aged 7 -

Lucy’s Winter Rescue by Anne Booth. RRP £4.99 Published by Oxford University Press This book is about a girl called Lucy who rescues an injured otter. It was an exciting book as I wanted to find out what happened to the otter. Lucy loves the otter and wants to keep it but learns that it is kinder to let it return to the wild. I learnt a lot of interesting facts about otters and how we should protect our environment. I would recommend this book to any other animal lovers. It has a Christmas theme so would be perfect as a Christmas present. Reviewer is Katherine Blanshard, age 6.
