TYPICAL STUDENT PARTIES

Sometimes a friend or roommate drags you to a party. Sometimes you are really not in the mood and sometimes it doesn’t sound fun at all. But sometimes you come across a gem. Somewhere you wouldn’t have gone if they hadn’t dragged you there, but of which you make it a tradition to come back every year. Here you will find a few examples of such parties and of course also a few parties that are so typical for Enschede, that they should be included in this magazine.

Hubertusfeest

For more than 35 years, Huize Heilige Hubertus has organised a house party for all students in Enschede. This party, which once started as a cozy drink on a small scale, has now grown into the largest house party in the Netherlands, which attracts hundreds of students every year. The party is held in and around the student house itself, located on the Noorderhagen in the heart of Enschede. The organisation of this spectacle is entirely in the hands of the male residents of this house. Every year, the party has another theme, such as ‘Het Jachtsvertoon’, ‘Ons Verleden Kwijtperk’ or ‘Rumoerknal’. Based on this theme, every visitor comes dressed up, usually in large groups with the same outfit. The door policy is very simple, not dressed up means not going in, but luckily the theme is not too strict.

‘T POTT GALA

Huize ‘t Pott is a big, white villa inhabited by 8 students who get the most out of their student life. Huize ‘t Pott is known by most of the students in Enschede due to its famous appearance and the gala that is organised at the villa every year in December. Once a year the residents of Huize ‘t Pott spent two full weeks to prepare the biggest student home gala of the Netherlands. This is an event that everyone celebrates smartly dressed in white tie. People from all over the Netherlands visit this party and it has already been a tradition for over 40 years!

Flatfeest

Each year the residents of Campuslaan 39, 41 and 43 throw the biggest flat-party on campus with over 750 people joining: the Los Chichis flatparty! At the end of September there will be one night where you can enjoy unlimited drinks and local artists all night long.
