GOING OUT IN ENSCHEDE

There is plenty to do and experience in Enschede. Thanks to the extensive range of shops, you can enjoy your shopping, even on Sunday. The Oude Markt is the ultimate food court of the city. Here you will find nice bars and pubs where you can enjoy a drink and socialise. Enschede also has a significant cultural and musical offer. Since you are now studying and/or living in Enschede, you, of course, have to get to know the city. Visit Roombeek, the neighbourhood which was turned into a cultural and architectural hotspot after the firework disaster on 13 May 2000. Or discover the former Vliegbasis Twenthe, which is not just a nature and recreation area, but various major events are also being held there. Discover the secrets of Grolsch beer during the Grolsch Brewery Tour or admire the most beautiful synagogue of Western Europe in the Prinsestraat. Make a city walk and learn all about the city. Enschede also has interesting museums, including the Rijksmuseum Twenthe and De Museumfabriek.

Activities

Besides visiting cool places, there are tons of activities in and around Enschede. Experience plenty of ice fun on the IJsbaan Twente in the winter months. You can also go swimming at Aquadrome or discover the large indoor trampoline park Krazy Kangaroo. During the summer, you can go waterskiing and chill at Rutbeek. A slightly less active outing? Shopping In Enschede

With the most diverse range of (inter)national chains and local gems, Enschede can rightly call itself the ultimate shopping city of the east of the Netherlands. On the H.J. van Heekplein you will find well-known shops such as Zara, Mango and Primark. But if you really want to explore the city, look beyond the square and discover the unique streets such as the Haverstraatpassage, Heurne, Zuiderhagen and the Walstraat. Want to do some local food shopping? Visit the markets on the H.J. van Heekplein on Tuesday or Saturday.

A Night Out

• Cinema - Enschede has four cinemas where you can enjoy the best films. Enjoy the newest popular movies at Kinepolis and the Vue or choose a more alternative one at the cosy Concordia cinemas;

GET-TOGETHERS

As a proper student city, Enschede has plenty of drinking establishments for a lovely evening with friends, fellow students, or members of your year club/fraternity/sorority. For example, every Sunday night is a special beer night at de Beiaard. At Fabels, they offer High Wine, with various wines and tasty snacks. Want to try something different? Go for the High Gin from Foodbar Bluff and enjoy three different gin and tonics. There are many more possibilities to explore, so choose a spot to sit on the terrace, order a drink and enjoy!
