MOMENTO 36 HYBRID MAT HOUSING - COLIVING
Project Data:
Project year: February 2021 Academic Semester: 4 Site Area: ~6000 Sqm Location: Behind Nirma University, Ahmedabad Type: Housing FSI: 1 - 1.5 [Here: 1.3] 1 The project aimed to develop Co-living housing for the students and faculty /staff members of Nirma university. The Architecture utilizes an Apartment block typology to house the staff/faculties and the Mat Housing typology for the students. The housing comprises of Unit-1-[60 to 90 Sqm], Unit-2-[90 to 120 Sqm], Unit-3-[120 to 150 Sqm]. Unit 1 for Apartment typology and Unit 2 and 3 belong to the Mat Typology.

THE RANN A CULTURAL CENTER
Project Details: Project year: July 2021 Academic Semester: 5&6 Site Area: 3000 Sqm Location: Dumado Village - Kutch - Gujarat Type: Culture Center 2 Kutch-e-Safaaqat, kutch has been a treasure of ancestral art and craft tradition. However, on a verge of losing its presence, this project aims to champion the cause of reviving this precious tradition, bring it to the notice of the mass alongside developing employment and bring about a paradigm shift in the indigenous cultural system. This Project was designed to breakout of typicl form making and innovate with shapes, structural systes, spatial experiences A symbol of determination to Inspire and Grow.

THE PRECINCT AN INTERPRETATION CENTER
Project Details: Project year: July 2020 Academic Semester: 3 Site Area: 35 x 25M - [875 Sqm] Location: Sarkhej Rosa Precinct; Ahmedabad Type: Interpretation Center 4 The Project aimed to pay Homage to Ahmedabad Architectural Heritage Icon, the Sarkhej Roza Complex, along with understanding the structure and Material of the Stone. The project went with a modular system of architecture with 3 Types of Modules, spanning 20 Sqm, 40 Sqm, and 60 Sqm using only Stone and no Steel or Concrete. The Modules are then placed on-site to create a Socially interactive interpretation center.

THE EXPERIENCE The Essence of Tranquility as a concept for interior spaces is inspired by the archaic spaces of the Sarkhej Roza complex. The Vault Modules are designed to instill this experience within the space for the visitor. This project is not about the study of how construction materials can be used but also how these techniques can be used to build better spaces. Tranquility induces a sense of repose within, making the visitor stay longer and enjoy the spaces, which in turn is one of the sole purposes of architecture.

EXPLODED ISOMETRIC OF MODULE
The module is a Caternary Vault with perforations where light is brought into the module to create a mesmerizing play of light. The Vault has extrusions of the Basic stone module on the edge and the whole vault rests on basic stone support which then rests on the main stone base support. the Base Supports have a layering of “Stone Pattas” staggered to give an effect of the Module Rising from the ground itself. The Module has been provided with Seating spaces inside the Module with a Bamboo Entrance facade to be an aesthetic design intervention. XXXI

THE SITE The concept of the placement of the Modules within the site was primarily derived from the Architectural analysis of the Sarkhej Roza Complex. The Modules are arranged to instill a pedestrian movement within the site, along with a certain directionality established toward the north side and arrangement within a systemic grid. The North-South Alignment Ensured a Playof Light within the Modules. The Movement path consists of small courtyards formed due to the arrangement of the modules and herein act as pockets of spaces inciting social interactions. Here for the Site arrangement, 8 nos of 20 Sqm Modules have been used, 1 no of both 40 and 60 Sqm Modules. Both the 40 and 60 Sqm Modules have a central Courtyard in between. The Movement Path Starting from the South, South-West end, eventually take you to the Sarkhej Pond on the East. There also has been a Public Washroom provided on the North-West End.

5 The Old city of Ahmedabad is known for its indigenous Pol houses, with architecture dating back to the 19th century. it holds a very important position in the cultural history of the city and currently is on the verge of degradation over time. This Documentation carried by the university students under contract with the Ahmedabad municipal corporation helps to preserve the architecture of these Historically Important and beautiful structures. The Drawings that were developed during the documentation were measure drawing of the house hence the drawing may lack structural details and many more aspects as seen in building construction drawings.
