According to Tadao Ando, the purpose of his work is to unite these disparate notions of space in a "one transcendent architecture." What Ando seeks and finds in his greatest work is the simplicity of perfection, a flawless circle created in a single stroke by a steady hand.
2.4 Case Study
3 different buildings were chosen as a precedent study for this research to have a better grasp of the first intended design strategy. The three case studies that were chosen are Setouchi Aonagi Hotel to justify the concept of how hotel or a retreat can be made without compromising the luxurious needs. On the other hand, Mountain Dwelling by Big Architect is the second case study in order to have a better grasp on how it actually justify the needs of maximizing the space and its functionally and how the roof garden works. Meanwhile Ice Cube Cultural Centre is to identify the implemented strategy to attract the tourists to the proposed design. All of the case study will be implemented as one of the proposed design’s concept and inspirations.
(a) Okcs Retreat Setouchi Aonagi (Tadao Ando)
The structure was created 20 years ago as a private guesthouse in Japan's lovely Matsuyama district, overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Under Tadao Ando's supervision, the mansion was turned into a tiny modern art museum before reopening as Okcs Retreat Setouchi Aonagi. (designhotels,n.d)

A minimal luxury, or an anti-luxurious place to leave everything behind and simply surrender to the azure sky and the peaceful, mirror-like Seto Inland Sea. The building itself bringing together the vast legacy of Japanese nature, history, and culture. Tadao Ando’s vision and concept for this building is to create a space that envision the needs of escape which potrays the element of a retreat. Setouchi Aonagi is a place that reflects the value of Architecture works that revised and arise from the recycled elemets. The hotel rooms are only 7 in total which emphasize the strong bond of privacy and individuality. The limitation of accommodation is not a disadvantage as if it gives more space for the visitors and tourists to have their own personal touch.

Satouchi Aonagi retreat creates a new perspective of how it fulfill the needs of tourists in order to catter the elements of architectural values and its functionality. The building creates a unqiue and premium experience not for its luxurious materials and interior design works, but rather focused on the spaces can replace the perspective of how people would enjoy the escape from urbanism.
In terms of design implementations, Satouchi Aonagi shows a great example of retreat concept that can invite people for its Architectural beauty that works together with other functionality. The case study and understanding of the building can be potrayed to be as one of the proposed design’s concept :

(b) Mountain Dwelling (BIG Architect)

Figure 2.10 Mountain Dwelling Exterior Perspectives
The Mountain Dwellings, sometimes referred to as VM Bjerget, is a modern housing complex in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Danish architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group created the two-thirds-parking, one-third-living plan for this project. The structure is shaped like a sloping mountain, and there are metal steps that go up from the parking lot to the apartment corridors. The halls are connected by an inclined elevator that travels along the garage wall.

Unlike a regular residential building, the Mountain contributes to the project's property value by restructuring the programme. Each apartment has the same amenities, and the gardens are designed to be huge yet intimate, with flora that alter character depending on the season. The structure also features an integrated watering system that aids in the maintenance of the roof gardens.
The Mountain Dwellings seem as a neighbourhood of garden houses in a suburban setting that flows over a ten-story structure suburban life combined with urban density.

The roof gardens are made up of a terrace and a garden with plants whose personalities change with the seasons. The structure includes a sizable irrigation system that keeps the roof gardens well-groomed. The apartment and the garden are only separated by a glass façade with sliding doors for light and ventilation. Roof garden maintained by watering system the planters, which are positioned to block direct views between apartments, collect rainwater to irrigate plants during the drier
season.

In terms of design implementations, Mountain Dwellig shows a great example of a ecological solution of a building ecosystem. The unique shape also emphasize the quality and performance of the roof garden since it is segregated and individually, equally exposed to the sun. The case study and understanding of the building can be potrayed to be as one of the proposed design’s concept :

One ofthe major cities in the Central Plains, facing Zhengzhou across the river, was known as Muye in antiquity. Additionally, this is where Sunac Cultural Tourism Group's 11th Cultural Tourism City in China was created. The enormous structure, which is made up of three giant clusters of nine little cubes, floats on the water like ice cubes.
Nine ice cubes are superimposed and offset from one another to depict the leisure district's overall motif. As one approaches, its straightforward appearance becomes nuanced and intricate. Numerous tangled translucent ice crystals that filter light and vision from the inside make up the texture of the glass façade.

The Xinxiang Cultural Tourism Centre was designed as a sculptural icon for a new winter sports tourism district in the city, which include an indoor ski slope. The building program and planning shows the uniform arrangments and flow. The Tourism
center shows an appropriate theme for its overall look and form which emphasize the winter sport and its activities.

In terms of design implementations, Ice Cube Cultural Tourism Centre shows a great example of a suitable programs, facilities and planning for the attractions and satisfactions of the visitors and tourist. From the deriving issues of the research, The people’s voice suggesting water sports as a new cultural activities for Mersing. Thus, this case study provides a great example of how a themed building typology executed within the urban surroundings. The case study and understanding of the building can be potrayed to be as one of the proposed design’s concept :
