SULTANS OF SPRAY

The side of Crane Point Museum and Nature Hammock’s gift shop is now a beautifully reimagined seascape, thanks to the combined efforts of world-renowned artist and conservationist Wyland and Stanley Switlik’s own artistic maestro Shannon Wiley.

On May 13, dozens of onlookers visited the nature center and enjoyed Driftwood Pizza’s donated pies as they watched the duo work with spray guns and brushes. Wiley enlisted the help of several Switlik artists to help him prep, and even apply, paint donated by Sherwin Williams.

“I have now painted three times with one of my heroes, and been ‘shot’ in the belly by him too.” said Wiley, recalling the pair’s prior collaborations on Marathon’s K-Mart plaza mural and the Waterfront Brewery mural in Key West. “We had quite a bit of fun, and he’s such a treat for me to paint with each time.”

“We here at Crane Point are very grateful to Mr. Wyland and Shannon,” added the nature center’s CEO, Charlotte Quinn, praising the time and talent donated by both artists. “They gave us a magnificent gift that will long be remembered. It was great to have lots of viewers watch history in action.”

A locals favorite, Bongos is an oasis of tropical fruit trees and herb gardens. Offering over 20 craft beers on tap, signature craft cocktails, and delicious light and local fare highlighting many of our “Grassy Grown” organic fruits, herbs, and fresh local Keez Beez honey.
