Juniors edge seniors for bragging rights

In a clash of the classes, Marathon’s juniors emerged victorious at Marathon High School’s 2023 powderpuff football game. Senior class sponsor Christina Gonzalez put on the flag football bragging rights contest to raise funds in support of the Class of 2023 and their needs for graduation and related events. With the help of junior class sponsor Kelley Cruz, the booster club, teachers, staff and the community, the semiannual matchup was a crowd-pleaser. The band played music, the girls played flag football, and the guys played dress up to cheer on their classmates, while three halftime routines by competitive cheerleading youngsters from the Stars of the Florida Keys added to the evening’s entertainment. In the end, the juniors defeated the seniors 25-19, but a night of fun and a positive balance for the outgoing seniors’ account made everyone a winner.
