It has certainly been an outstanding few weeks of sport for New Zealand and I’m only sorry that I’m not there today to join you at the much anticipated British and Irish Lions v All Blacks Keystone Rugby Lunch. There is something really unique about a Lions series. Not only does it come around only once every 12 years, with the players being at the pinnacle of their nations, the fans support their heroes bring a real excitement that is pretty hard to beat. At 1-1 the series remains fantastically alive, the atmosphere must be pretty exhilarating in NZ right now as we await Saturday’s decisive third Test. This year’s event has been in the making since early 2016, with the first release of tables selling out in a matter of days. We promised to bring you a day that will not to disappoint, and with a little bit of déjà vu, we’re extremely pleased to welcome along the rugby greats of Rory Underwood and Sean Fitzpatrick, together with our trusty MC Andrew Mulligan to once again guide you through the afternoon. We are thrilled to have the support of Winger Motors Maserati return as event sponsors. We have formed a great partnership with Wayne Leach and his team, and it’s fantastic to have them back for this great event. Before we settle in we must acknowledge what draws us together. The Rugby Lunch is Keystones only fundraising event and assists us greatly with determining our student numbers. He’s a familiar face as co-presenter of Prime TV’s ‘The Crowd Goes Wild’, Sky Sports presenter and the host of The Rock Breakfast. Andrew will keep us on task and entertained throughout today’s afternoon of rugby.

Fitzpatrick
Sean Fitzpatrick’s extraordinary international career began with his debut for the All Blacks in 1986 against France. His world record for playing in 63 consecutive Test matches and his standing as the world’s most capped hooker found his recognition as one of the greatest international rugby players of all time and one of the world’s most successful sportsmen. He was appointed captain of the All Blacks in 1992 and played in 121 international matches, including 92 Test matches, a New Zealand record. Sean also holds the record for most Test matches as an All Black captain (51) and has played in more Test match victories (74) than any other player. He played his 92nd and last international on November 29, 1997.

Underwood
Rory is probably best known for his international rugby career. Not only for scoring a record 49 tries for England (85 caps, 1984-1996) but also for winning 6 caps for the British Lions touring Australia (1989) and New Zealand (1993). Rory played first class rugby at Leicester Tigers for an unbelievable 14 years and was awarded the MBE in 1992 for his services to rugby. Rory joined the Board of Leicester Tigers as a non-executive Director in Nov 2007.
